Marsha Blackburn at the Washington Tea Bag Party: They Want to Take Back Their Country
Marsha Blackburn who never had a problem with George Bush's wars and spending at the Tea Bag 9/12 protest in Washington D.C. saying the protesters want some fiscal responsibility. That's rich. And they want their "country back". From who exactly Marsha? Their elected representatives, or from the black man they think was born in Kenya?
Gotta' love Fox for staying classy with the "Don't Barney Frank Me" sign they were showing while they were interviewing her.

Boooo, hoooo, hooo.
I'm sick of these idiotic slogans.
I saw a good one yesterday, either here on C&L, or elsewhere. The comment said that the only people who have a right to say "I want my country back," are the American Indians!
""... From who exactly Marsha? Their elected representatives, or from the black man they think was born in Kenya?..."
...so they need to be picketing Wall Street not the feds!!!
Wall Street Banks hold these percentages of shares in Health Insurance giants and are increasing shares by the tens of millions
United 77.32%
WellPoint 79.04%
Aetna 79.45%
CIGNA Corp. 68.71%
Coventry Health 82.25%
Health Net Inc. 79.37%
Wall Street is the enemy.
from the black man, of course, because to them white makes right, black - move back.
They want it back to resume indiscriminately slaughtering other peoples and raping other economies.
This cannot end well the way it is going. Where are the psychiatrists and mental health workers on this? They need to speak up. Soon.
the country is still here, they however have lost their minds. clearly. this isnt THEIR country no more than its mine or Obamas. its OUR country. these idiots only wrap themselves in the flag and leave no room for anyone else. if they think theve lost their country they need look no further than the mirror. they have themselves to blame for not questioning govt earlier. when there was plenty of reason to under Bush, with his executive branch power grabs, his needless and expensive war in Iraq, his warrantless wiretapping, his sanctioning of torture thereby trashing the USs reputation, etc. nary a peep from these same people during those times. now they have a problem these days with Obama and govt. please cry me a river. they all can drown in that river. this AMERICAN has no use for their incosistency and hypocrisy. they can shove it.
Well said!
The same people protesting Obama today obviously didn't give a shit about Bush, his wars and his power grabs because to them, 9/11 justified it all, and you'll never convince them otherwise.
If a drone kills a child in Kandahar, do the crying parents make a sound?
Talk about the falsehood of wars paying for themselves! Why are we still fighting wars over oil like it's still the 20th century??
Republicans have ***ZERO*** credibility when they attack Pres Obama for being a reckless spender- These Republicans were staunch supporters of Bush's out of control spending- and based on their attacks on the patriotism of anyone who questioned Bush, freedom of speech means little to them (unless THEY are the ones protesting)
Fact is , the right wing is out of power, and they want their power back. They will lie, engage in projection, and smear if thats what it takes to undermine and destroy obama's presidency...
What disturbs me about the Republicans is that their numbers are rife with gaybashers , militant xenophobes and racists.
By their own admission, they hate multiculturalism- and the fact a black man is in the white House drives them into a fury...
They feel America belongs to white Christian men....
The whole anti immigration rhetoric is thinly guised racial hatred of Latinos...
I just worry that the right wing scum will resort to violence, since they seem to have such a fondness for killing an destruction..
Other than hatred and oppression, what do these Republians stand for?
It's so odd they profess to be Christians- as Jesus helped the sick and the poor, yet his cult members seem to despise his acts of charity..
abc never reported that over 1 mil showed up
she knew that...cuz all you had to do was look around and see that the crowd wasnt larger than 60k
nice try, you lying bitch
I just sent Blackburn an email about the teabaggers.
I ended my email with the fact that ABC is saying that they never said there were 1 to 1.5 million people. I then told her, "YOU LIE."
Jack when you report that you sent an email to somebody please put the email address up here so at least i KNOW WHERE TO SEND ONE AS WELL. (Damn caps lock)
Hey, Captain.
I think a long time ago you might have asked me....sorry.
Sometimes, as with Blackburn, I didn't have an email address. What I did was go to her web site and filled in the contact form. It had no email listed.
In fact, some of these contact forms will not let you send a message unless you have a zip code in the Congressman's district.
I live in St. Louis, but what I did was use the zip code that my sister has in Tennessee....she lives in Blackburn's district!
Just a follow up, Captain...
This is the web page I got to after getting on Blackburn's House web site. You will have to put in a zip code plus 4 to proceed.
Again, in this case, I used my sister's zip code, but you can also find an appropriate zip code if you don't already have one. Almost all of these congressional web pages have a district map. Open the map, and find a large city in the district. Then you can google that city, along with the words "zip code," and you can likely easily find one.
http://blackburn.house.gov/ContactForm/
Actually, in this case, once you get past entering the zip code, you also have to put in your address on the next page. I did use my real address, and real zip on the 2nd page....and it still took, giving me the message "thank you for sending a message...."
Yeah, I'm aware of that. Your instructions are good. You can use a P.O. Box # in a town in the district of a Rep as well. So you can use the zip code of the town and the 4 extra digits would be the PO Box number (use a 4 digit PO Box number just to be sure).
The good thing about posting the contact info, whether it be an email address or a website address, is that it makes it really easy for everybody or anybody to fire off a quick email right away. That way you get some more messages sent piggy backing your work.
Thanks
Didn't even think about it, but you can get a zip code from the Congressman's office addresses as well (in the contact information)....although, at least in the case of Blackburn, she doesn't have the +4.
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/protest-crowd-...
to pick up that Misinformation from the Right-Wing Blog that's misappropriated the numbers to ABC and spread it to their millions of viewers.
And then, the propaganda loop will be complete. And the number will be a "fact."
HAIL, PRAVDA!
why does obama keep trying to reach out to these people?
to fuck off. It's THEIR FAULT shit is the way it is now.
me-oww!
These are the dumb-asses who don't want to accept the outcome of a legitimate election. They want their country back from the black Democrat who won. We are going to have to put up with these idiots until they steal back the White House or plunge us into the next Civil War. My God. Why didn't Lincoln just let them go in the 1860's? We could be enjoying a 21st Century society that works for everyone and they could be down there talking to snakes and praying to Jesus for their healthcare.
"Loud" doesn't mean "right!" Obama can't negotiate with terrorists.
He better pass healthcare WITH a strong Public Option or the terrorists win!
Check out a picture of the Few, the Loud and the Wrong at

There's nothing I'd like to see more than a few thousand armed Southern hicks and teabaggers taking on the well-financed and nuclear-armed North, backed by the wealthiest states in the world, including New York, Illinois and California.
The first thing that would happen is the Texans would try to secure backing from their best friends, the Saudis, who are keen to support any terrorism against the U.S., as was evidenced on 9/11.
The second thing that would happen is, they'd lose. Again.
The natural result of all this will be a new civil war.
...of Civil War here in (what I have recently been calling) the Divided States of America, i.e. we've been having a Cold Civil War since the Reagan Administration.
"We" doesn't exist in our current political situation. "They" have been divided from "us", and a nation divided cannot stand.
The trouble with this Civil War is that it would bear no resemblance to the last. It won't be one section of the country against another. No, this Civil War, I believe, will resemble The Troubles in Northern Ireland - neighbor against neighbor in the form of heavily armed paramilitaries, with a government Army on the sidelines, rendered helpless by the hatred of them by both sides of the conflict. These people who are throwing around this "yeah, let's secede and have another Civil War!" don't have a fucking clue what they're asking for. It ain't gonna be U.S.Grant vs Robert E Lee, with two armies facing off against one another. It's going to be wholesale carnage, everywhere, and everyone is going to bleed.
If you have selfish, ignorant citizens, you're gonna get selfish, ignorant leaders.
George Carlin
To cover it.
And while he might lose a few viewers in the States, he'll make it back in ratings abroad.
It'll also go gangbusters for arms manufacturers. So a smart investment could net you a cool profit.
Guerrilla warfare at home. Domestic terrorism. Minorities are going to get hammered.
I don't think Beck has tear ducts in his eyes. This is pretty funny.
http://progressnotcongress.org/?p=2895
Beck is a phony at every turn.
I mean, ostensibly the fox news "reporter" was "interviewing" this congresswoman about her stance on health care reform, etc., but she came off more as another journalist "reporting" on the teabagger thing in the background. This lends greater credibility to her criticisms of the president, as reporters are supposed to be objective. What's really messed up is that they are both cheerleading propagandists for the right, posing as disinterested defenders of the public interest.
http://chicagoist.com/2009/09/09/once_more_wi...
would require them to have lost it to begin with.
Thus far, there's no indication that ANYTHING is different than when Bush was running it.
It has very little to do with the "what" and very much to do with the "who". Regardless of what is being done, if a Democrat is doing it it's bad, if a non-white is doing it it's bad, if that non-white is a Democrat and doing it, it's God telling us the AntiChrist is among us. If a GOPer does it it's in accordance with the intent and spirit of the founding fathers.
That's the difference.
And one I truly believe.
Did you happen to catch the article Atlantic Monthly posted Friday regarding the Census report? Lays out the numbers:
Of course in the comments there are those who are still insisting that GWB inherited a recession...
I pledge allegiance to the Constitution of the United States of America, and to the republic which it established, one nation from many peoples, promising liberty and justice for all
You saved us all,
By creating the biggest deficit in U.S. history.
By sending the price of housing sky high.
By halving our retirements on the stock market.
By creating not one, but multiple quagmires.
By dropping tax rates on the incredibly wealthy.
By catapulting the top 1% from owning 50% of U.S. wealth to 90%.
By merely being white.
If only we could have you back, all would be perfect.
Doesn't Michelle Bachmann hate the Census Bureau, and, in fact, will boycott the Census next year? The Census Bureau, after all, is just a big commie organization who wants to find out if you're rich or poor in order to determine whether or not you merit healthcare. I believe everything Ms. Bachmann tells me, things she has learned from that little crazy voice inside her head.
Actually, that report might be a good thing for C&L to summarize and post, pointing out just how much of a f*&&(ckup Bush was and how far he has run this country into the ground. These right wing teabaggers blame Obama for everything gone wrong; how soon they forget that Bush is the cause for how far back this country has gone, and that it will take drastic measures to fix it.
this is part of the problem in my opinion. many in certain demographics on the right lust for the romance of individualism. much like the notion the "free market" is perfect. they forget/deny human behavior and interconnectedness. health care insurance cost reform is an economic necessity. it will affect all people. several polls/studies have shown most/many of us will be/become vulnerable of losing our health care insurance. because of interconnectedness this will affect everyone. u.s. business can't compete in the GLOBAL economy so we will continue to lose business to countries that have infrastructure and government subsidies unless we make changes/adapt. capitalism is gone to far. some people can't see beyond theri own nose and understand this health care reform is needed for the collective.
I used to see this same mentality in the Navy. "Not in my Navy," I would hear, normally from someone with a little authority and a heightened sense of entitlement.
Unless one of those asshats has a receipt or a bill of sale that proves me wrong, this country is not their fucking personal possession. Damn if these twerps don't need to get over themselves.
"Better." It's what we should ask of ourselves and of our leaders.
Yeah well when the HELL did their politicians give a rat's ass the past 8 years wtf we wanted?
America spoke last November. Let the Teabaggers eat sh*t.
You know what you get when you stop listening to Country and Western music?
You get your wife back, your dog back, your country back ...
Well, guess what, I felt that way when we were forced to put up with George Bush for 8 long painful years. Perhaps these nut jobs need to chill out and get used to it.
I figure that to be "Barney Franked" must mean to be told that you know so little about factual reality in the U.S. that you must just have fallen off the turnip truck from another planet, and that you're as stupid as a dining room table.
oh come on now! At least dining room tables are useful.:-) It's funny about that sign though. No matter what the topic is, it always gets back to the gay sex with these people. Really really fucked in the head, thy name is teabagger.
If you have selfish, ignorant citizens, you're gonna get selfish, ignorant leaders.
George Carlin
For Whites?
Diabolus est Deus Inversus
Regardless of the "nuances" indicated (or not) in their signage, they're a lynch mob who can't stand the idea of being "ruled" by a Negro.
Half of these people probably don't even have health insurance. Yet they can't stand the idea of a black man fighting to get it for them.
Imagine if they ever discovered that Jesus was actually black. Boy, that would really mess them up.
First of all, I think FOX should get a really stiff fine for letting that Barney Frank sign make it onto the air. Now, as for these "grassroots" common Amerkins who are out there raising a fuss about esoteric legislation like Cap and Trade, well, I wish someone would pull a few of these nitwits off to the side and have them explain, one at a time, what exactly is meant by "cap and trade" and why is it such a problem for them. Honestly, the more I see of these "grassroots rebellions", the louder by bullshit detector starts ringing. This whole teabagger thing has corporate money written all over it (or did these teabaggers hold a bake sale to buy that custom painted "Hands off MY Healthcare" bus). These people are freaking out about nothing, not a goddamn thing. If we had true progressives in Washington, Single-Payer healthcare would have been in place since Truman. If we had true progressives in Washington, dirty, inefficient 19th century industries such as coal and oil would have gone the way of the Cotton Gin by now. Bunch of whining, lily-white crybabies - "wahhhhhhh, nobody listens to me, wahhhhhhhhh!".
If you have selfish, ignorant citizens, you're gonna get selfish, ignorant leaders.
George Carlin
It seems to me to be mis-directed populism. Real grievances....wrong causes for them. 'Tis a tactic of fascism, isn't it....according to Robert Paxton, the world's authority on the subject.
A country so divided the institutions can't come up with viable solutions to the nation's problems seems to be the focus of this sort of thing. Not good. The same sort of thing was fomented in the German Weimer Republic.
Robert Paxton certainly is not the "world's" authority on anything. Where did this idea come from?
That's really tough shit. You're not getting it back for 8 more years and that's only if you're lucky and start acting like grown ups again. If not you may not have a conservoturd serving in office for a generation. How about caring about America the melting pot rather than a pale skin color, care about something more than your freaking skin for God's sake.
Politics is for the present, but an equation is for eternity. Albert Einstein
The Red Scare 2009 is going swimmingly. If only Joe McCarthy had Fox News behind him.....
replace "E Pluribus Unum" as our national motto and "under God" inserted into our Pledge of Allegiance,*** we'd have mandatory Bible school 7 days a week, Muslim and liberal concentration camps and ankle-length dresses for women.
***Both of these happened in the '50s.
... they want their silly red scare back.
You had the country for at least 8 years and you almost destroyed it. Go away. Find a rock.

About that great Repub idea to contain costs....
The CBO estimated last year that savings achieved by limiting medical liability
would amount to less than 0.5 percent of health care spending. In addition, the
office studied states with their own controls on medical lawsuits. It found no proof
that those limits have reduced "defensive medecine" - expensive and unnecessary tests and procedures ordered by a doctor only to reduce the risk of a lawsuit.
(Associated Press, cited in Sacramento Bee, p. 6, Sept.13, 2009)
Furthermore, in states with caps, malpractice insurance cost has not decreased compared to states
without any. And there is no appreciable difference in "defensive medecine" costs either.
Witness two states with conservative caps: Texas and California.
More baloney from insurance companies and the GOP. With, of course, the little guy/consumer being once again the scapegoat.
it has always been a strawman argument
most litigation in this country is business to business.
Don't hear about that very often, huh?
I pledge allegiance to the Constitution of the United States of America, and to the republic which it established, one nation from many peoples, promising liberty and justice for all
There are millions.
This is not my father's America
And really, we're too civil to do to them what they wish upon us.
So...they are only a sense of entitlement (they don't do their own wetwork) away from being a very scary thing, in my book.
"Better." It's what we should ask of ourselves and of our leaders.
I want to be sure that when I call someone a lier, that they are a lier.
If you think about it, he's just a bit behind. If this asshole had said the same thing from 2001 - to 2008, he would be regarded in much the same way that Southern Congressmen and Senator's who spoke out against Nixon are - as heroes.
As it is, Congresshit Wilson, you're just another Southern official elected by inbred imbeciles who are probably related you in ways that would embarass the Borgia's.
YOU LIE!

these tea baggers seem to be very fond of a certain brand of generic tea that is sold at the large stores that start with a W and end in a mart. i think because it comes in boxes and not a plastic bag.
someone at the company seems to have taken note because after they started this nonsense and the tea got on the t and v the price went up a quarter per hundered. this stuff hasn'r risen in price in years.
royally ticks me off.
i wrote a letter to my local paper a few months back decrying the conservative right and stating that their rhetoric was a sure sign in the decline of mental health care in this country since reagan. reagan did this big budget cut back which closed a lot of the state mental hospitals and tossed the patients into the streets.
these are those people.
I believe we have elections for a reason. It's funny how these people (most notably FOX) kept saying "Bush won, get over it!" and "America - love it or leave it!" for the last 8 years. Within 4 months, they started up this "We want our country back" nonsense. They make it out like it's a majority of Americans that want this. Anyone paying attention knows it's crap.
And why is no one pointing out that the relatively small crowd yesterday was nothing compared to the crowd that came to DC to watch Obama inaugurated? Once again, the media failed miserably.
Your right wing, bat-shit crazy nuts, LOST the election. GET OVER IT!
America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves. ~ Abraham Lincoln
OK Credit where credit is due. In the video freeze frame, the poster that says "Don't Barney Frank me" is kinda funny and does contain a bit of truth.
From the stupid people like this who are trying to take it over.
Stop fucking Sarah Palin-ing, and Joe the Plumber-ing my country damnit!
It's truely the lowest common denominator who is out there screaming about socialism and their freedoms and not one of them knows what any of those freedoms really are all about.
Hell, they only mention 1/2 of the 2nd amendment and they think all of our other freedoms are going to be used to take away the one freedom they want. (damn thinking about repugs makes me talk in circles like this!!!)
What we really need is to have simple slogans that they can understand and chant like Conservatives Want to Limit Your Options. - it fits on a bumper sticker and can even be held upside-down over your head. But the stupid people are not the problem, we just need to come up with simple slogans to get them to fight for America instead of against it.
3 words. No Grey Area.
I remember, particularly after the 2000 Supreme Court farce, that we began hearing "take our country back" on our side. They're echoing what we said, over and over, notice? It's like a race car drafting. There's an automatic response, then: well, you said it then! But there's all the difference in the world. We, uh, won in 2000. And Bush did nothing but govern from the right, totally ignoring any input from Democrats. Can anybody rational say that about Obama?
Add to that the fundamental lies that becoming the spender of last resort in a severe deflationary economy is "socialism," or "Hitlerism," or whatever wackadoo thing they say it is, and we're in serious trouble. Obama, and the Democrats, won big. Not quite a landslide, but very substantially. Are they then saying that the voters have disenfranchised this minority?
...to strongly consider getting out of Iraq and Afghanistan. We may need our military just in case some of these wingnuts get any crazy ideas.
You can count on them to fight on the side that pays them the most.
Unconstitutional to deploy the military in domestic policing action, if I remember correctly, might be something in the PATRIOT Act I missed.
Beside aside some some possible random acts of terrorism from people whom Glen Beck has thoroughly destroyed their ability to think for themselves. I guarantee, the majority of these tea baggers, stick an M-4 with an M-203 grenade launcher in their face, and they'll shut the hell up and behave like adults.
is that it's not your face the M-4/M-203 will be in. Christianism is big in the US Armed Forces.
Most of these people at these rallies are chicken shits that are all talk and no action.
We don't need to bring military troops back here.
October 16, 1995-- the million man march
September 12,2009 -- the 50k moron march
i wish these baggers would stop referring to their mobs as the "american people" thats a complete joke.
they sure dont represent me and the rest of 70% ers who want healthcare reform.
"...the protesters ... want their "country back"."
Cry me a river. I'm insulted already by all the Michelle Malkin generated lies about the measly number of teabaggers on The Mall, but this really strains my eventempered-ness.
These smug racist twits amount to less than 0.05% of ALL the voters, both parties, in the last election. Even if 9/12 teaparties in other cities swelled that percentage x10, that's still only 600,000, or 0.5%. Ron Paul and Ralph Nader have more of a following than the "leaders" of these idiots, who might populate a city, not a country.
So, why don't we give them West Texas for their very own, and build a Customs fence and gate around their little "country"?
15,000. If they were fortunate.
me-oww!
Give them the whole state of Texass, then deport everyone in South Carolina there.
Hey Teabaggers! Just come out and say it! Be honest!
"We lost big last November. We're angry that a biracial man is president. We are hypocrites and morons."
There! Don't you feel better now?
F'n cowards.
NOBODY 2012
Seems that pretty much sums it all up. Because when ask they have no idea how to answer the question because Boss Limbaugh, Hannity, or Beck has not given them an answer to regurgitate.
Don't W our point of view.
Don't Palin the ailin'.
Don't Halliburton the hurtin'.
Don't Xe the military.
Don't Hannity our climate calamity.
Don't Orly Taitz the United States.
Don't Glenn Beck our wellness check.
Don't Limbaugh the rule of law.
Don't Yoo against the ACLU.
Don't Luntz seniors into astroturf grunts.
- Tom
These people are so cluelessly fucking stupid it's hilarious.
That picture on the sign is exactly what Bush and the republicans did to them, and are still doing to them, and they're so god damned stupid, they are still cheering them on.
How could anybody be that fucking dumb?
Rush Limbaugh is what a smart person thinks a stupid bigot sounds like.
I just wish JUST ONE so called reporter would ask the whiners back from where and just who stole it from whom? Just standard question, I want my country back. Who took it and where did they take it that is all I want, love to see that answer.
saturday on glenn beck's selfpromoting show highlighting the teabaggerfest 09, one of the on site reporters spewed forth with the statement that this was a peaceful, positive and nonpartisan gathering. but a sign in the crowd that read "bury obama with kennedy" seemed to undermine that statement. of course many more signs had the same effect.
I want my country back from these stupid people. These morons cry about their freedoms being taken away as they freely protest in the streets of country.
I was having a romantic weekend at the Renaissance Mayflower in DC last weekend. The place was filled with these people. I've never seen so much stupidity concentrated at a single location before. It's not even a political rally. It is a celebration of noise.
Aren't things bad enough without letting MORONS run things?
A sitcom? A satirical documentary? I don't get it!
I lived in her district for 6 years and she is a continual embarrassment -- an old-school leech in Southern Belle clothing.
