Glenn Beck is very close to playing with his poop.

Eventually, it'll happen on air.

Hopefully he'll crap himself right on screen, so it will be fresh.

A great interview, but I do have to take exception to one thing Bill Maher said regarding Al Grayson's "Taliban Dan" ad. It seems to be conventional wisdom that by doing that ad, Grayson's campaign "crossed the line". I've got two words in response to that: Max Cleland. Remember Max? The war hero, triple amputee who was morphed into Osama Bin Laden in one of Saxby Chambliss's ads. Not only did that ad not hurt Chambliss, it cost Cleland his seat in the Senate. Where were people wringing their hands and whining about "crossing the line" then?

Doncha know that it's only bad if a democrat duz it? I don't remember the Max Cleland ad getting all the "Left Wing Media " attention before the elections. It's getting harder to remember a "Left Wing Media."

When I heard Maher say "democrat disapproval" like a dumb parrot repeating rethug childish tricks.

Democrats obviously have a deeply ingrained inferiority complex. They view themselves as subordinate to Republicans, and they constantly seek the approval of Republicans. I would actually not be surprised to see the Democrats officially change their name to *Democrat* Party.

yours has to be the classic comment on this blog in a long time.

Bill Maher is a bore. He's what Kos aspires to be. Plays both sides and reaps the benefits.

Kind of like you expressing disappointment in the elections when you were advocating none of us to vote?

No. That decision was based on priciples. Maher's show is based on sensationalism.

Is there really a difference between Maher, Jon Stewart and Glen Beck. If you're intellectually honest, you'll understand that they all have the same single goal.

Now THAT is a false equivalency if I ever saw one.

He says the Democrats are as bad as the GOP, and then tells progressives to vote for them anyway.

Maher is a libertarian, not liberal. He makes a lot more "sense" if you're using that tidbit to filter what he's saying.

A libertarian who supports universal healthcare? What kind of animal is that? Is it related to a unicorn in some fashion?

The teabagger tag wasn't really all that funny at first, but now it just makes you look like children! Even Jon Stewart is over it, and he works for a comedy channel!

Thank you for letting us know.

Are there any other ways the humorless left is offending the delicate sensibilities of the adults?

... and still is!

No, DON'T stop calling them that!
Keep it going till the Oxford English Dictionary recognises "Teabagger" as a word to describe them!!

He's just projecting. Shows they are at least embarrassed by the terminology they created for themselves.

And they think "Democrat" offends us just as much. It doesn't. It just sounds ignorant.

... the "teabagger" tag was coined by the teabaggers themselves. It is not our fault that your buddies as a collective are dumber than a bag of rocks.

The republicans are not better at getting what they want. Certainly not if you look at the legislative achievements of the Bush administration. There aren't that many and many of the farthest reaches failed. They did not succeed in privatizing social security. The Democrats are not themselves less effective at getting things done. In the very same discussion Maher admits that Pelosi and Reed got a lot done. What has changed is that the Republicans have become extremely good at using procedural blockades to block the Democrats. That's the difference. As near as I can tell Maher's only supportable complaint is that the Democrats did not adequately explain their achievements to the voting public. That may be true but the polls I'm reading show the biggest concern of voters during the midterms was the poor economy and only time can cure that.

Bush got virtually everything he wanted as President, including two rounds of tax cuts and the war on Iraq.

What has changed is that the Republicans have become extremely good at using procedural blockades to block the Democrats.

Yeah, well maybe you can explain why the Democrats didn't filibuster a single bill during the Bush years, and why they have made no threat whatsoever to filibuster the extension of the Bush tax cuts. The fact that the GOP can block all Democratic legislation while the Democrats can't block a single Republican bill is clear and irrefutable evidence that the Democrats are working for the GOP. This has actually been the case since Reagan was elected 30 years ago, and it's absurd that most progressives and liberals still can't see it.

ricky's picture

Maher knows how to use false equivalence (Republicans are better at getting what they want done) and repeating derogatory sexist memes (Democrats are wimps).

Too bad we can't rap on what a Gangsta our first black President is. And were you dating Ann Coulter before or after your taping sessions with Christine O'Donnell?

What a lovely edition of "Not Fishin" on Countdown. Well, he ditched Worst Persons so he needs something new.

...further and further to the Right, so has Bill Maher become the voice of reason. I used to think he was pretty much of a libertarian idiot, but these days he recognizes the differences between the two parties and explicitly names them. That's rare and important. PBS won't do it. The NY Times doesn't do it. Even trying to mention the Washington Post makes me gag.

Unfortunately, Maher doesn't have the following or credibility to be much more than a comforting voice. But I'm willing to thank him for that. So, thanks, Bill.
