[H/t Dave]

An Iranian gives her eye-witness report on today's atrocities carried out against non-violent protesters on the streets of Tehran. Further accounts online paint a similar grim picture. From persiankiwi's excellent twitter page:

all shops was closed - nowhere to go - they follow ppls with helicopters - smoke and fire is everywhere #Iranelectionabout 4 hours ago from web

ppl run into alleys and militia standing there waiting - from 2 sides they attack ppl in middle of alleys #Iranelectionabout 4 hours ago from web

saw 7/8 militia beating one woman with baton on ground - she had no defense nothing - #Iranelection sure that she is deadabout 5 hours ago from web

they were waiting for us - they all have guns and riot uniforms - it was like a mouse trap - ppl being shot like animals #Iranelectionabout 5 hours ago from web

I see many ppl with broken arms/legs/heads - blood everywhere - pepper gas like war - #Iranelectionabout 5 hours ago from web

Nico Pitney relays from Facebook:

"In Baharestan we saw militia with axe choping ppl like meat - blood everywhere - like butcher . . . Fighting in Vanak Sq, Tajrish sq, Azadi Sq - now . ."

The graphic accounts of the state using terror on it's own citizens has caught much of the media off-guard. Both the interviewer and the news anchor were, at times, left speechless. After years of sanitized war in Iraq and elsewhere we're just not prepared for the brutality or the injustice of such events.

this is getting bad...really really bad...
they're chopping people up with axes now...WTF?

talking about St. Paul Mn last summer?

I don't get the reference?

This is some fucked up shit goin on over there...I don't remember anyone gettin chopped up with axes in St. Paul last summer, do you?

Except the ax thing, which is rumored to be true

I think what happened at the RNC was a walk in the park compared to this.

Naive.

... get a grip!

Your comment is embarrassing.

At least this is somewhere where Israel and Iranians can agree upon willing to overthrow Ahmedinijad. Perhaps the moderate muslims, at least in Iran are breaking their silence in order to bring upon a better democracy similar to Israel or Lebanon.

good comes out of all this horrible shit...
this is like Rwanda kinda...not on that scale thank goodness, but the axes...Christ...that made me think immediately of Rwanda...

I mean, jeebus, who AXES another human being? And over what? Open dissent? For THAT you get axed?

PIGS! SCUM! COWARDS! WORMS! Rot in Hell! Allah has something special in mind for you sadistic bastards!

These barbaric sons of bitches must be overthrown...

Like Bill Maher said recently that the Ayatollah making the final decisions in Iran on who will be president there would be a lot like if Pat Robertson were to make the final decision on who becomes president here.

but let me clarify my statement...
they must be overthrown from within...by Iranians FOR Iranians...we can't step in.

Sure, Iranians can only help Iran, like Iraqis can only help Iraq - I haven't heard much recently about Iraq since it now seems to be a forgotten war like Afghanistan was a couple years ago...until Obama decided to double-down.

The Ayatollah has actual power. What it would be like is if Pat Robertson were the real power behind the gov't, AND made the final decision.

... in reference to the point-at-hand, the final judgment on who would be President.

the supreme court made bush president ... what's the difference? If it's one or a group the people's will was superseded here long before it happened there, and if americans had as much fight in them as the Iranians I would image our government would do the same thing to stop decent. Lucky for our government most americans are asleep at the wheel.

And you don't think this could happen in The Good Ol U.S.A? Think again. Picture a bunch of beer drinking, mentally challenged and interbred rednecks meeting up with some lefties or gays during a national crisis of civil unrest after the finanacial system collapses or the government can't supply welfare and reneges on your pension. Just picture those zombie movies. You Betcha.

According to this article, the former Shah's son is asking Israel to keep the rioting stirred up so he can return to Iran and take over "the throne":

http://www.presstv.ir/detail.aspx?id=98844&se...

Do you remember this story?

Babies Thrown From Incubators
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ib6wL55EoM

This whole show in IRAN Help the ZIONIST-NEOCON Agenda for BOMBING IRAN.

It's smell like old fashion IMPERIAL PROPAGANDA.

Let the IRANIAN fix their own problems if any!

You've provided a link to a story posted by the official Iranian state "news" agency, PressTV, a propaganda outlet of the current Iranian regime.

I'd take this story with a truckload of salt, if I considered it at all.

...

Oh my, the poor girl doesn't know what she asking for. USA helping IRAN means more death, bigger bombs, more beatings. Way to stabilize the region, BUSH, CHENEY and Rumsfield, way to go.

That is really sad, will Obama dedicate another trillion dollars to rebuild yet another country taken over?

we cant...not alone anyway...
maybe as part of a peacekeeping force with the UN..where the HELL is the goddamn UN now that I think of it?!?!
Get in there and stop this shit!

..the Muslim theocracy is sanctioning the killing of Muslims. I'd be outraged if I was Muslim.

it's about retaining power. Not about Islam.

Exactly, lNm.

I will see you all on here tomorrow, I hope there will be good news from Iran...not more stuff like this...

A week ago I was in total agreement with Obama that we should stay out of this and just give verbal support to freedom of speech and assembly. Last week this thing seemed to be about disenfranchised voters.

But now I am in a quandary... What should Obama and his administration do? I realize that weighting in on the side of the opposition candidate was not the right thing (he aint that much better than akmadinajadork.)

What could Obama do? I just dont know.... And is there more going on here than we are able to see? I am sure there is, but I have no clue as to what that would be.

I have seen no reports on what Hilary Clinton is up to... I gotta belive she is playing some roll behind the scenes... It will be interesting to hear what she has been doing once the dust settles.

I am just glad the Neocons and Bush are out of power and disgraced... Crystal, chaney, krauthammer et al.'s solution to the problem is to invade and kill em all. And that is worse than doing nothing at all.

Oh shit, this is real nightmare stuff except we don't wake up and find it was just a dream. Why don't the "religious" leaders demand this stuff be stopped?

Islam has millions of followers. Why are Islamic leaders silent while innocent people are bludgeoned in the streets?

Are a little tied up right now trying to put out this fire linking them and their contributions to Al Queda prior to 9/11:

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/24/world/middl...

Oh just 1 of the many things that got me in trouble, when I would hear or see somebody blame Saddam for funding the 9-11 terrorists, I would say no actually it was Saudi Arabia. Then the FOX new talking points to counter fact, then me getting pissed at stupidity, then my pc getting hacked, yay.

)O(

I can't remember which channel I had on today but someone said the streets of Iran were quite today and many of the protesters were not gathering as they had. There was no mention of this horror going on. I wouldn't have heard anything about this had it not been for this post here at C and L. How much of the US even has a clue?

Sadly this is playing right into the hands of McCain, Graham and others.

.

The protests have been completely underplayed in every MSM outlet I've seen, even BBC today. Reports on the ground say hundreds of deaths (probably almost a 1000 imo) 1000's of 1000's being arrested and tortured, 10's of thousands wounded and the basij won't even let them into the hospitals (instead arresting them on the spot), complete lock down in the city's, brutality everywhere. And all i see on BBC this morning was the Supreme Leader still thinks the elections were legit and only 17 people have died, that's it. Like it's even about the elections anymore...

and Neda and all the ones like her, why there isn't a complete world-wide meltdown of outcry i do not know. This planet has lost all of its' humanity.

By phosporous BOMBS and IDF Snipers were killing Babies?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLSHnDwEi44

Did CNN said something about it?

What did "the world" do after Tienanmen Square? IIRC, we expanded trade and surrendered our sovereignty to the Chinese.

situations are glossed right over and followed by a touching, human interest story about fluffy bunnies or some garbage like that.
The world stood by while the genocide in Rwanda and Darfur went on and on and on.

The woman kept asking for our help, but the reporter never said, "OK, what would you LIKE for us to do? What CAN we do? What are the people in Iran EXPECTING from us?" Are these guys scared to ask anything more substantive than "How do you feel about that?"

That CNN anchor was definitely at a loss for a response to the girl's plea for help.

The only thing he could have, should have, said was that his role was bringing her voice and message to the world.

.

I'm sort of disappointed that there hasn't been more coverage of this on C&L, it's a world changing event and now has become a massacre. I hope that the Obama admin is doing more than we know underneath, the UN is doing shit.

I wonder if he took his little trip to Argentina just so the news media would have something to distract Americans from Iran with? I wouldn't put it past them all.

)O(

Conspiratorial overtones there, Christy? "Them" does not exist, it's just a bunch of sad white guys who happen to be extraordinarily hypocritical.

More likely, he went to Argentina because of the medias attention on Iran. Whatever the case, Iran is much more important than Sanford right now.

I'm not being coy or anything, but what could the US do? I mean dropping bombs isn't the answer. That would just kill more people and get us into a war with Iran, which we are just not able to afford. Talking at this point doesn't seem possible. So what is there that can be done?

.

The U.S. can not make any moves, the rest of the world NEEDS TO STEP UP.

That's what I was thinking. There are other countries who could and should do something. Sadly we can't fix every evil in the world every time it raises its ugly frightening head.

Israel could help out...?...!...not!

Britain...

It's up to other countries besides us...

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran's interior minister on Wednesday accused U.S. spy agency the CIA of helping to fund "rioters," stepping up accusations of Western involvement in street unrest following the country's disputed election.

http://www.reuters.com/article/gc08/idUSTRE55...

)O(

That sounds like tit-for-tat

We were constantly accusing Iran of interferring in Iraq.

...Two years ago the CIA announced a plan to destabilize Iran.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/155...

Which Bush promptly approved.

I recall that horror (the explosion) Thanks for the link!

I'd like to see some real evidence of as much. The situation seems much too volatile and isolated to outside agents for such accusations to ring too terribly true.

...

History proves that the CIA is a criminal organization, daddy Bush was a CIA Member at 1 point. Like I said, Bush, Cheney, Rumsfield.

Just another hidden mess coming to surface, but should we prosecute, nah.

http://www.conspiracyplanet.com/channel.cfm?C...

We completely surround their country......................

the cia does have operatives on the ground...has for awhile

So the Iranians get a little of what we experience as Americans.

We're not Number 1! anymore.

Americans seem to enjoy taking the shaft.

All said from the comfort of your homes without fear of death. Yea, just like Iran, morons.

Not to get off-topic here, but that could've just as easily happen here if the election went the other way..

I mean, look at this twitter account:
in Baharestan we saw militia with axe choping ppl like meat - blood everywhere - like butcher - Allah Akbar - #Iranelection RT RT RT

This is absolutely horrifying. Both from the graphic detail of what's coming out of Iran and the apparent inaction from the international community. The revolution hasn't even happened yet and there's already bloodshed, and there's no telling how bad it would get if things keep spiraling out of control.

Then again, what can the international community do aside from the condemnation of the Iranian government? Where are the human rights groups pounding down the door of the UN? Meddling in Iranian affairs has always been disastrous, especially from Western influence, and it could get so much worse if people started stepping in. But to not do anything to interfere means we have to watch another bloody chapter of history play through.

And in the midst of it all, there's a poor woman by a telephone begging a news anchor for help.

I might be too jaded and cynical for my own good....
but... I happened to hear this live on CNN....... there was something about
it that bothered me.............

What it is ain't exactly clear. The axe thing especially. Sorry, there needs to be more evidence than a single tweet that anyone can make. And there are plenty of people who could benifit from this kind of disinformation about now-people who have never given 2 shits about anyone in Iran before. I smell CIA.
Like someone posted above, remember the babies being pulled from incubators in Kuwait? The person testifying about that on TV ended up being a relative of the Sultan of Kuwait, and it was pure BS.
That said, if something like what is going on now in Iran happened in this country after a disputed election, there would be much blood in the streets also.

but im sure that there are students who are exagerating claims in order to gain more sympathy

I may be too jaded and cynical, too. Also, throw into this mix the fact that Iran recently decided to transact their oil sales in euros and dumped the dollar. Isn't that one of the reasons Saddam was knocked down?

The Japanese did not let in the foreign press, either. Hundreds of thousands of Chinese were brutally killed.

[Comment Deleted By Administration For Violation Of Terms Of Service]

but gov sanford flying to argentina to get a bj and a bang has 300 responses

sad

Very graphic video:

YouTube: CitizenTube - Iran

what does revolution mean to you?

I would say...

After years of sanitized war in Iraq and elsewhere we're just not prepared for the brutality or the injustice of such events.

Even if war is "sanitized", I hate that word, it doesn't take much of an imagination to know that war is hell. Hollywood movies do a good job of showing how brutal and bloody they are. Anyone who doesn't understand that war is hell on earth is a freaking moron. This isn't war of course and this insane violence against these innocent people must end.

That scores innocent people die brutal deaths everyday in Iraq, yet there is no outrage like this present drama in Iran. Unfortunately Iraqis are too poor or do not have the technology to communicate with us the way many young Iranians do. I'm not trying to play down the horrific brutality in Iran, but people have been suffering this for five years now in Iraq, there was another terrible bombing of a market just today. The empathy for Iraqis seems to be much less with both the American people and their politicians... including Obama.

Exactly.

The old Europeans enjoyed wars against enemies that they could not lose against. The sport of war. Well Iran is as modern as many western countries. Iraq has been killed by Bush after Bush.

but it is committing suicide. They are making enmies out of most of the population.

but in the meantime...damn it's gonna be fuckin brutal...

Sanitized War in Iraq? Not if you are from there. No offence here but this type of thing happens in every warzone. The Coalition forces committed horrors on the Iraqi and Afghan peoples. Israel butchers Gaza daily.

This is simply more of the same and we should not let that fact slip by. The only reason is that our 'enemies' are committing the crime now and not 'us or our friends'.

Our TV is slanted. So is yours.
