Looks like Dick had to send his daughter out to do his dirty work for him again this week on Fox News Sunday. It's hard to say who was more repugnant among this past week's panel line up--Liz with her denial that the United States tortured prisoners or Bloody Bill Kristol with his war mongering.

WALLACE: Liz, several leading conservatives applauded the president's speech -- Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich. How about Liz Cheney?

CHENEY: There were certainly parts of his speech with which I wholeheartedly agree, and I think it was really good, frankly, to have the president finally enunciate some of these things, talk about, you know, the insufficiency of engagement with respect to dealing with terror or dealing with enemies, talk about the importance of America supporting democracy around the world, and also talk about the role that America has played particularly in post-World War II Europe.

I think the key will be whether the policies now follow that, and I certainly hope that they do. But we still had in this speech -- you know, it's almost like it's become reflexive, this notion that America abandoned our ideals after 9/11, and I think that it is -- you know, as we see this president repeatedly go onto foreign soil and accuse America of having tortured people, talk about Guantanamo Bay as an abandonment of our ideals, you know, I -- that part of the speech to me really is nothing short of shameful.

And it's not just an attack on political opponents. You know, it really is casting aspersions and, I would say, slandering the men and women in the CIA who carried out key programs that kept us safe and the people, frankly, right now at Guantanamo Bay who are guarding some of the world's worst terrorists.

So I think that part of the speech represents something I hope the president will stop soon.

Alan Grayson had it right and his message for the Vice President applies to the daughter as well.

Yup, Liz is out whoring again for her criminal father and Dickhead.

The people who are guarding the world’s worst terrorists are not CIA agents in Guantanamo, they are Secret Service agents guarding the chief executives of the former Bush administration, in Dallas, and wherever the hell Darth Cheney’s new undisclosed bat cave is located.

Karyn's picture

WOW...spot on. Now that is a statement I would love Alan Grayson to hear!
Is there anyone else other than me who is hoping some of the 'missing' emails have some .... shall we say .... some inadvertent remarks about torturing to be sure Iraq was involved in 9/11....

I know, I know, I still believe in Santa Claus, Tooth Fairy, Easter Bunny, and flying pigs.....

one of the last people i'm going to listen to regarding "torture" is liz cheney. "torture" was used as a strategy to justify/rationalize the war(s).......rather occupations for petro imperialism. liz cheney just offers opposition to the hurtful truth. the blood is on their hands and they will continue to deny it.

Hey Liz, Obama wasn't talking about the CIA, he was talking about your dad's policies.

She cynically lays blame at the feet of the CIA while simultaneously making it seem like she's defending Obama from doing exactly that. Wow. Uncle Rove taught her well!

The CIA is not exactly the most angelic of institutions but they did not commit the acts Obama was referring to without being ordered to. Maybe the wingnuts you're preaching to on Fox won't get it but the rest of us do.

because of her war criminal father. Read the new Newsweek article about our "celebrity" culture, by which media awards attention to Americans merely by their audacity of making themselves visible, i.e., Levi Johnston, Sarah Palin, The Salahis, Balloon Boy's family, etc. Little Ms. Cheney has NO bona fides, knowledge, certifications, education, or reason to be famous other than being the spawn of Satan and pandering to Faux Noise, the media of low information voters. She truly personifies one whose life is

Is this where I am supposed to defend Obama as I have since the beginning of his presidential campaign? Is this where I, along with the rest of the progressive/liberals of the Democratic Party, am supposed to fight against the slander brought to him by rabid neoconservatives and scurrilous Blue Dog Dems? Well, guess what, mother-fucker? You're on your own! When everyone in the world was attacking you (i.e., Rev. Wright, "guns and religion", Prof. Gates), it was the left of the Democratic Party that stood up and fought, while the Blue Dogs were ready to throw you to the wolves to help Hillary Clinton. But now you've fucked me and the rst of us over by acting like the corporate Dems we voted against, so don't ask for my help anymore, Mr. President. I've lived through 8 years of Reagan and 8 years of Bush, and I will gladly wait this out ubtil a TRUE Dem administration works for ME and not for what we voted against. Fight your own fucking battles, Barry! Maybe you can be less of a pussy againsy Liz Cheney that you were against Lieberman, but I doubt it.

Turn the Bluegrass Blue's picture

What's the point of electing these "Democrats" if they're going to kowtow the first time one of these sore losers comes crying to them? I didn't vote for Joe Lieberman, the Family, the Tea-per Tantrum crowd, Olympia Snowe, Stupak, or holdovers from the last war criminal's cabal to run this country, and yet, that's what's happened!

Handypants's picture
...

"What's the point of electing these "Democrats""

Because the only other option was a republican.

Obviously.

Maybe we should have a progressive purity oath?

If we only counted "pure" democrats we too would be at about 20% of the electorate. I can't see how that would help the situation.

i don't know what a "pure" democrat is.

and you seem to assume the oft-cited claim by the GOP that america is a conservative-leaning country. its not.

Diabolus est Deus Inversus

Turn the Bluegrass Blue's picture

That the current 20% electorate IS running the country now. Health care reform? Oh, sorry about that, but the people who believe in a Grandpa in the sky don't want women to be treated like equals in the bill, and Mr. Lieberman has a check to clear, but maybe next term. Close Guantanamo? Oh, when we can get around to it, things are just sooooo busy right now. Get out of Afghanistan? No, in fact, (whisper) we'll be invading Pakistan in a year or two! Hold the Bush crowd accountable for all the crimes known to have taken place during their reign? Oh, sorry, that would hurt a lot of people's feelings, and we can't have that with another election year coming.

To hell with a birth certificate, I'd like to see the president produce evidence of which party he's with.

Your problem is that conservative and 'liberal' americans are so self-deluded and disconnected from reality.

It's a cage. For decades, the country has been committing murder - suicide, literally, on a global scale. I'm getting to be ok with the suicide part. It's the murder part that annoys me.

glogrrl's picture

people who are concerned that the lives of the people on the planet be decent and livable. That would be enough for me. I would love to belong to a party that is for the little guy, cares for the homeless and downtrodden, believes in justice for wrongs, and truly believes in "Love thy neighbor" as it was meant by Jesus, if there were a Jesus, which so many people want to believe. How does that sound?

“The greatest evildoers are those who don’t remember because they have never given thought to the matter, and, without remembrance, nothing can hold them back,”

it was bushian, hypocritical and severely disappointing.

But what is left unsaid: all of this is the result of votes by average Republican Americans.

We must address them or the problem will never go away. Nothing we try to sway our political leaders matters if Republicans keep voting for lower and lower quality leaders or outright corporate sell-outs.

The believers of the lie must be held responsible. Must change. Or nothing else will.

real_earl's picture

of the Nation article on the stolen election... as we know now it was the votes not counted that also mattered.

Heres another 'zerpt:

"Until December 12, we enjoyed a number of quietly corrupt
elections, decently kept from public view. But the current Supreme
Court, in devil-may-care mood, let all sorts of cats out of its bag—
such as a total commitment to what the far right euphemistically
calls family values. Justice Antonin Scalia—both name and visage
reminiscent of a Puccini villain—affirmed family values by not
recusing himself from the Bush-Gore case even though his son
works for the same law firm that represented Bush before the
Court. Meanwhile, Justice Clarence Thomas’s wife works for a
far-right think tank, the Heritage Foundation, and even as her husband
attended gravely to arguments, she was vetting candidates
for office in the Bush Administration.
Elsewhere, George W. Bush, son of a failed Republican President,
was entrusting his endangered Florida vote to the state’s
governor, his brother Jeb."

...and:
..." Another cat let out of the bag is the Supreme Court’s dedication
to the 1 percent that own the country. Justice Sandra Day O’Connor
couldn’t for the life of her see why anyone would find the
butterfly ballot puzzling. The subtext here was, as it is so often
with us, race. More votes were invalidated by aged Votomatic
machines in black districts than in white. This made crucial the
uncounted 10,000 Miami-Dade ballots that recorded no presidential
vote. Hence the speed with which the Bush campaign, loyally
aided and abetted by a 5-to-4 majority of the Supreme Court,
invented a series of delays to keep those votes from ever being
counted because, if they were, Gore would have won the election.
Indeed he did win the election until the Court, through ever more
brazen stays and remands, with an eye on that clock ever ticking,
delayed matters until, practically speaking, in the eyes of the five,
if not all of the four, there was no longer time to count, the object
of an exercise that had sent trucks filled with a million ballots from one dusty Florida city to the next, to be kept uncounted.
During this slow-paced comedy, there was one riveting moment
of truth that will remain with us long after G.W. Bush has
joined the lengthening line of twilight Presidents in limbo. On the
Wednesday before the Thursday when we gave thanks for being
the nation once hailed as the greatest by Agnew, the canvassing
board in Dade County was, on the orders of the Florida Supreme
Court, again counting ballots when an organized crowd stormed
into the county building, intimidating the counters and refusing
to give their names to officials. The Miami Herald, a respectable
paper, after examining various voting trends, etc. concluded that
Gore had actually carried Florida by 23,000 votes. The Herald
plans to examine those much-traveled ballots under Florida’s
“sunshine” law. I suspect that the ballots and their chads will be
found missing."

I would love to be a fly on the wall in the rooms where current and ex CIA people are discussing this. There is of course the issue of daddy (whose code name at the CIA was Edgar, for Edgar Burgen the famous 30's ventriloquist, you can guess who the implied dummy was) outing a CIA agent but that is the least of Cheney's attacks on the CIA. Going back to the Reagan white house Cheney had a habit of creating his own Team B group because as corrupt as the CIA was and is they still had a tendency to want to stick more or less to the facts when informing the president. Cheney was reviled by many people at the CIA for that and for his more recent intrusions and distortions of the intelligence process. He would do unprecedented things such as go over the CIA and brow beat analysts who said things he didn't want to hear such as that the Yellow Cake memo was a fraud, that Curbeball was an unreliable drunk, etc. All of which of course turned out to be true.

Medical Diagnosis by Video's picture

Now I skip over the clips with O'Really, Hannity, Cheney and his Spawn, Kristol, all those insane excuses for human beings, etc. Who wants to waste the time listening to their crap, and why waste the bandwidth?

I've got better things to do and better people to listen to. I already know how hopelessly evil they are. Let's devote our time and energy to developing a viable THIRD party. Obama and the Dems are HOPELESS.

So let's see some clips of Ralph Nader (yes, he the evil one, according to the corrupt and useless Dems)(they claim he caused Gore and Lieberman to lose, but even if they had won, wouldn't the Dems have been as USELESS as they are now with an overwhelming majority?), Chomsky, more Krugman, Bill Moyers, even Howard Dean, who I would not vote for when I lived in VT, because I thought he was too corrupt. He's looking virtuous now.

Progressives should not waste time and energy on these freaks anymore. I know it is sometimes fun, because they are such easy targets. But we now need to abandon the Democratic Party and start a new one. The continuance of war, no effort made by any of them to reform the Patriot Act, the sell out of possible health care reform. They've had enough chances and have FAILED. Time to let them know that we are DONE with them. I certainly am--I hope many others join me. ANd if I vote for Nader again, as I hope to do, heaven help any Dem that comes back at me for it.

"I think that it is -- you know, as we see this president repeatedly go onto foreign soil and accuse America of having tortured people, talk about Guantanamo Bay as an abandonment of our ideals, you know, I -- that part of the speech to me really is nothing short of shameful."

I'm trying to find the right way to express my feeling on this matter.
Let's see...okay.Got it.What rhymes with "PUNT"?.

"To me, truth is not some vague, foggy notion. Truth is real. And,
at the same time, unreal. Fiction and fact and everything in between,
plus some things I can't remember, all rolled into one big "thing."

Why does Liz hate America so much? She complaining when people exercise their First Amendment free speech rights. She complains that the President is the Commander in Chief and he, not the soldiers/subordinates on the ground, makes the strategy decisions on how to fight wars.

Liz, you can keep flapping your gums all you want but history will still record the fact that your daddy did not respect or honor the Constitution and that he was one of the worst VPs we've ever had.

Yeah, I know, reality is a bitch because it is what it is. Can't change it no matter how long you hold your breath and turn blue in the face.

I can hardly wait to hear what this dummy says about the 22 million "lost" e-mails.

Well, from her point of view - Liz Chaney's father committed the crime of the century so i'll be surprised if she isn't committed to an institution before she gets over that!

You just watch and wish it wasn't so, but there's nothing you can say to her to make things better, try as we might.

Perhaps this is something Liz and her now private family will have to come to terms with on their own. I hope they come to terms with it, on their own.

Meanwhile Murdoch exploits her. I'm sure all the media corporations will exploit her too, and to some extent they already are.

From our point of view it makes many of us queasy - but then we are hearing private, personal stuff from a stranger about a family member, so we should be feeling queasy. We also know we shouldn't even be listening to this private conflict that's none of our business.

So i blame TV for this screw up and not dizzy Lizzy.
