From The Colbert Report, Nov. 12, 2008:

I don't believe in adding insult to injury. Once I've injured someone I just like to take a moment to enjoy it. But apparently election officials in Omaha Nebraska are going to add an insult to the Republican injury. They're still counting the votes there and there's a damned good chance when they finish tomorrow they'll be giving one more electoral vote to Barack Obama making him the first Democrat to get a Nebraskan electoral vote since Linden Johnson in 1964. And...and to get that vote Johnson had to promise to nuke Kansas. Now if it happens, one Democratic official said this victory would be "like a cherry on top of an already sweet election." Well the Democrats can have their sweet elections. Republicans perfer things bitter and salty.

Nation, I'm just going to go out on a limb here and say that things are not going well for the Republicans. Two years ago they controlled both the White House and the Congress. Soon they'll be controlling both the Coke machine and the fry station. And then they're asking, how did we fall so fast? Which takes us to tonight's Word...Pity Party.

Man, does Colbert crack me up!

the trust the American People have given him.

So far, it looks like his objective is to build a powerful machine -- just like Chicago politics.

The problem is, Chicago-style politics work in Chicago. They don't, necessarily, work everywhere else.

Obama risks being a tough, two-term, hard-nosed president who winds up with a losing hand.

One of the things I like about liberals, is that they are not nearly as cynical as conservatives.

I think that most cynics are often very judgmental and "set in their ways", so to speak.

I prefer to think of most liberals/libertarians and progressives as being "analytical thinkers".

I bet the Repugs who saw this, didn't understand the joke. Repugs have become a living, breathing joke.

Iraq funding, tax-cuts for the wealthy, FISA, warrant-less wiretapping, etc.

F*ck you, Wall Street Journal.

Linden?
uh....no.

pity pity pity, palin schmalin.

'Nuff said.

Absolutely. Fucking. Brilliant.

On the same show he had Bob Woodward on peddling his new book and he gave him a couple of good shots to the ribs.

Bitter and Salty.....that pretty much describes all of the Repugs, and even more appropriately describes all of the stupid, right-wing talking heads that support them >>> Hannity, Limbaugh, O'Reilly,
et al.

I cannot play the video.

Did you not know that Canadians are second class citizens as far as Stewart and Colbert are concerned.

Kinda takes the edge off of comedy dunnit?

..download the wmv (or mov) files and then watch them afterwards in Media Player or Winamp.

There's also less strain on the bandwidth for the host site, as far as I understand.

Does this mean Colbert is going to go extremo rightwingnuto like the rest of the Repugs?

Seriously? You can't spell LBJ's name?!

.."Rat Bastard".

Did I get that wrong?

hat's LyndonJohnson, please. Eschew the Republican orthography, por favor.

There's a big ole elephant in the room. Of COURSE Republicans knew they'd lose big-time in this election because of GW Bush's devastation of America and their support of him. Not even the most stupid among them believed Americans are blind and thought everything was hunky-dory.

As long as they continue to blame everybody else and indulge in victimization fantasies, their party's going nowhere. They're already eating dust as an upcoming progressive government moves at a rapid pace beyond them.

But I say, let them eat that dust and cry in their beer. The longer they refuse to take responsibility for GW's horrible government and their support of it, the more they marginalize themselves and the farther behind they fall.
