Carly Fiorina... just looking out for the little people out there who pay too much in taxes. If this wasn't a made for the teabaggers ending argument on why the voters of California should vote for her, I've never heard one. Every one of the dog whistles was there. I was glad to see Barbara Boxer call her right back out for sending jobs overseas and her record as an HP CEO after this "man of the people" speech by Fiorina during their first debate for the California Senate.

The video above includes both Fiorina and Boxer's closing remarks from their debate tonight.

I took the time to transcribe Fiorina's remarks. They're begging for some Bobblespeak Translations which I sadly did not have time for, but maybe some of the commenters will have the time for instead.

FIORINA: Thank you so much for the privilege of truly to be here and to have a great debate with you Sen. Boxer. I have traveled up and down this wonderful state and I have been struck by the beauty and by the spirit of Californians. But I must say I am also struck by the anger, the frustration and yes, even fear. I remember meeting the immigrant who had built his small business from the ground up only to see it ruined with too much taxation and too much regulation and I remember him looking me and saying “This is not the country I came to. My own government is destroying my livelihood.”

I remember speaking to the city councilman who talked about his struggles to keep his community together while they struggled with almost 40% unemployment. And I remember as well the woman who looked me in the eye and grasped my hand and said I have never voted before, but I am voting for you because I am afraid for my children’s future.

Promise me this, when you get to Washington, you will not forget us. We can turn our nation around. We can get it back on the right track. We can get our state on the right track. We can grow or economy. We can control government spending.

But to do all these things, we must start by changing the people we send to Washington. I ask for your support. I ask for your vote. And I pledge to you this. I will go to the U.S. Senate and I will fight for the millions of Californians who love their country, who go about their business, who pay their dues, who serve their communities. You don’t ask for frills or favors. You give a lot and you expect little. You are asking for one simple thing now, that we take our government back, make it listen and make it work.

Carly Fiorina, Jan Brewer, Sharon Angle .. where do these twisted women come from?

When will government of the people, by the politicians, for the corporations perish from this Earth?

Not soon enough!

They are on a mission from God. To save Wall Street and Oil companies from regulation and to make the scary brown people go away. It's in the bible somewhere I'm sure.

you bet it is in the bible

the jews were told by god to kill man woman and child in a city to make them a homeland.

those men women and children were indeed brown people.

gotta hand it to the cali repukes....consistently nominating unelectable statewide candidates

way to go

This skanky "Queen of outsourcing" believes that costing Californians jobs is a worthy quality to represent them in the Senate.

Too bad there wasn't a progressive who valued the bill of rights and constitution in this race. Someone who is fiscally conservative, socially progressive, with a common sense foreign policy. Those types of candidates are too rare. Paul Wellstone. Dennis Kucinich, Cynthia McKinney, etc.

Someone who believes in justice. Holding those who abuse power accountable. Etc.

The only thing she left out was mother, apple pie and love of country. The kind of corn ball, high on pablum, low on specifics. Republican bullshit talking points that are fed to their ignorant supporters. She's a political lightweight just like Jan Brewer. From Fiorina's hilarious "sheep commercial" to the Sounds of Silence from Govenor Droopy Face last night in Arizona, the teabaggers and wingnuts of the GOP have morphed into what is now the caucus of coo coo.

Boxer's hair looked better as always and yes, I meant even before Fiorina was diagnosed with cancer.

Copied from one of Palin's lame speeches, just replacing "Americans" with "Californians."

As for your immigrant friend, this isn't the country you came to, indeed. Because the taxes on the wealthy are far lower now, so we've had to cut back on everything that affects AVERAGE people.

As for you, Carly, you are a lying, self-interested corporate shill. Move to another state and drive that one out of business.

Don't make me laugh. Fiorina's only interest in her life is herself. Like most politicians, she is in the political arena to feed her ego and self-gain. Nothing more....nothing less. Everyone knows what her record at HP was. She drove it into the ground. Her handlers and promoters are portraying her as a "woman of the people". What people? The uber rich? The self-absorbed?

All the republicans really wish to hear is that the candidate is not a democrat.
Most of the tea party and conservative republicans do not read real facts and do care to.
If they had the concerns about our economy , jobs , illegal wars , outsourcing American jobs , democracy , our constitution and country they would have never voted for Bush, Cheney or republicans in 2002.
Face it they are lacking something in their voting process and it is call FACTS.
What I do not understand is the Independent voters which will vote for the republicans which are running for office..

Think of the Class of persons ( to be nice about it) which are the talking heads for the republicans and the candidates and think,,,,, How in the h... can an intelligent voter vote for them..

Obama/Emanuel and some other democrats which are controlling our democratic party and the watered down policies they are passing are not much , but the republican candidates have to make a people sick.

If Fiorina wanted to win she should have waited to run against Feinstein. Fiorina will not beat Boxer.
Just imagine for a moment that Fiorina were to win, and you had an issue that you believe your Senator could help resolve. So you call Senator Fiorina for advise and all you receive is a lecture on why you are wrong to think that someone in government can help you resolve your issue.
Repugs like Fiorina wish to rule over us with sociopathy and schadenfreude as their motivation. They don't serve the greater good, they are driven to serve their political philosophy, and voters all too often are complicit by groveling before them.

That could almost be Sarah Palin.

Hmmmm. THIS is what Carly Fiorina wants to tout on the campaign trail?

... says his business was ruined by taxation and regulation, but there's no mention of the nature of his business. Maybe he was doing auto body repair in his back yard, and spraying toxic VOC's into the air without the proper filtration and recapture equipment, which would obviously eat into his profit margin while keeping the rest of us safe...?

Or, maybe he started his own pest control business without the proper licensing and training, putting homeowners, children, and pets at risk with his misuse of dangerous chemicals because he didn't want to spend the money to do the job per govt regulations...?

In either case, it's good know that Fiorina is there is get rid of those pesky govt regulations so that this guy, and thousands of others like him, can keep their small businesses thriving!

I want to meet that "immigrant" small business owner who told her taxation is "destroying" his livelihood.

I call "Bull$#!+". I guarantee either she is lying, or he is. Put him in an ad, Carly.

"The Defense of Marriage Act had broad bipartisan support. And actually, the position I’ve consistently aspoused is consistant with that of our President and a vast majority of senators in the U.S. Senate." --- Carly Fiorina

Yes, she is so much different (and worse) than the current crop of Dems in Congress and the White House.

One of the benefits of the corporate underworld is that truth isn't something that is a basic value. Lies are the stock and trade of the upper echelons of virtually all corporations. Your embracing of this culture (and utter failure to make anything out of yourself except a person with waaay too much money) is indicated by your playing fast and loose with campaign oratory. I live for the day when the old line comes home to roost for the Republican party about fooling all the people some of the time, some of the people all the time but being unable to fool all the people all the time. Not that you will ever stop trying.

skycypher's picture

What a complete smack down of Fiorina. Boxer bodes well and her name shows she's a fighter. The Party of No only wants to reverse all that is good - from what has been done since Obama took office. Money and lies is all they can muster for this unattractive pursuit. May they fail to fool the many and alert the few who will actually care to vote to the undercurrent of deception on display.
