Ugghh..I thought the only place I was going to see this woman's face was on CNN. MSNBC's Carlos Watson brings in Pat's sister Bay Buchanan to regurgitate his talking points on Sonia Sotomayor. Apparently one racist Buchanan on the air just isn't enough for MSNBC.

excellent!!

So how does taking the voting rights away from felons meet equal protection under the law? All US citizens should be able to vote.

To GOP authoritarians and bullies, the goal of the prison system and criminal justice is not rehabilitation but retribution. These authoritarian thugs believe that greater punishment and control will actually rehabilitate people.

Yeah, right.

Only the most egregious corporadoes are even tried, let alone perhaps convicted.. those running corporations are not even held responsible for many of their actions.. corporate felons make the laws through the corrupt political system, never have records and besides voting themselves spend kabillions to influence others' votes.. We get Bay's myoptic version of reality on national programs sponsored by the real felon class- why is there any wonder?..

I believe most former felons can vote once they've served their sentences and/or parole, except for some states in the South like GA or TX or MS or Flarduh.

The best place you'll ever see racists Pat Buttcannon or Pat's sister Bay Buttcannon or Sean Insannity will be at the Post Office mug shot wall for Traitors.

have their rights reinstated; it is not automatic after completion of their sentence and/or parole. Felons in Florida can have their rights reinstated, BTW; not sure about the other states listed.

should be protected by the constitution. Felons who have done there time should be able to vote, carry arms and hold political office. Its up to watch dogs to make sure they do not abuse theer Constitutional rights. Bat Buchannon is a walking talking smaer artist

as free of facts as pat.

bay like her brother pat come from
a very privileged elitist sect of
low brow whites who think they are
entitled to everything no matter
who they step on.
these are the lowest humans on
the planet and in the United States.

i am white and i will be elated when
this country's power structure represents
it's actual ethnic, gender and economic
diversity. white's have f#cked this
country up for too long to enrich
themselves and their friends.

... on any TV Channel without a gag?

The pleasure chest has some nice ones for all occasions, some even in the shape of a dildo

Why are the Buchanans' EVER on TV?

Oh yes, I forgot TV sucks and so do the people on it.

Yes, and there's plenty of movies and internet video to watch instead. NBC, i'm looking in your direction...

her face on tv after insisting right up to election day last November that McBush and Winky were gonna win?

has anyone noticed that she's done a Greta Van Susteran?

Sure looks like it to me.

She looks so....ummm, rested....refreshed....

Still spouting the same crap though.

Next she should have a brainlift.

They found enough of some sort of enough goo to tame her hair down, that's all.

There's definitely been recent pulling and tightening. In fact, I think the post-op painkillers are all that's keeping her from screaming, "Didn't you listen to Pat? They're about to put a spic on the supreme court!!"

I'd love to hear some of the conversation at the Buchanan Thanksgiving. I'm thinking the yams and stuffing are all that would make it distinguishable from a Klan rally.

That's funny they served yams, stuffing and hominy too at the last Klan rally I went to.

You wouldn't expect it, but the food was exceptional!

How was the possum road kill?

Seems like possoms are drawn toward trailer parks, there's always a pile of animal corpses nearby... and stop signs full of holes.

I can't even listen to her screed.
I was mezmorized staring at the new face.

Notice how the mouth moves below a stiff upper

Everything?

Sadly, Bay sounds just like the misguided fool she is, when spouting such baseless talking-points.
Without even the slightest effort, Carlos keeps things crystal-clear and establishes how ridiculous Bay is being.

Topped off with how Bay actually sounds like she's having a hard time keeping her breath, and the constant harping on discredited nonsense...

I watched this live when it happened and my first thought was that she may be even crazier than Pat. I guess crazy is naturally occurring in their gene pool.

the losing side of history. Good riddance.

Send 'em back to Ireland along with Hannity, O'Reilly, Coulter, the O'Donnell sisters, Dan Quayle, the Reagans and Bush, etc.

Buchanan's mostly German with some Scott-Irish and some Irish and some English. See this genealogy:
http://www.wargs.com/political/buchanan.html

You sure Bush is Irish? Or you just want people to hate the Irish? Are you the very thing you say you're against? http://www.wargs.com/political/bush.html#GHWB

Reagan was at most half Irish and he was Protestant. http://www.wargs.com/political/reagan.html

I never heard anything about Quayle being Irish. It doesn't seem likely to me. High ranking Republicans tend not to be Irish-Catholics or have much Irish in them.
http://www.wargs.com/political/quayle.html

Coulter seems very unlikely to me. I can't find any Irish connection.

Kelly O yes, other one maybe.

And Murdoch is a 'God Save the Queen' megalomaniac. He surely picked two Irish-Catholics as his lead dogs to disguise his agenda which is anti the Democratic Party which the Irish have so long been a very important part of.

That was a perfect description of Bay yammering on and on w/out making any sense.

Wonder what kind of dinner discussions buchanan clan have ? Must be wholesome family fun staff.

Imagine if both of them are fired up about something and how much spit would be flying.

Bay and Pat share the same hood ?

I was just telling my husband about something I read here at Crooks and Liars. He asked which site I saw it on and I verbally fumbled and said, Cooks and Fryers.

Yes, I do need more sleep.

!

Who is this Carlos Watson guy? An interviewer who actually challenges the guest with facts, and who has the nerve to say "You're just throwing out words here"? Where did he come from, and can we get more like him?

No kidding! And, why are the Corporatists allowing such a radical voice on their propaganda machine?! Is it to appease 'libruls' and maintain the facade of a 'fair and balanced' media?!?

Can you tell I'm skeptical? Did true journalism die with Walter? I think I will continue to view MSNBC and its ilk with a healthy dose of skepticism, even if they do tantalize us with a random voice of sanity.

and the "consolidation" of media under unified, nearly unitary corpoRat control.

The corporats will NEVER EVER again permit there to be a voice as powerful as Cronkite's.

Given the realities of corporat media, probably that is not a bad thing...

Bill Moyer, Amy Goodman.

if we hear about it. Guess what a certain unnamed corporation calls its division that cleans up toxic spills? "The School for the Formerly Gifted." Talk about disdain.

Actually, he let her spew her venomous bs before he cut in. She got out her message alright, vile as it was.

Shame on msnbc for stooping to such low levels for ratings.

Definitely can we get more like Carlos Watson. Not only did he challenge Bay's "facts," he was prepared with facts to rebut Bay's talking points. Maybe if we had more journalists like Carlos using "facts" to argue points would "catch on." What a concept.

Excellent job Carlos. You kept things clear, concise, and factual.

And be more like David Halberstam in this Glenn Greenwald article:

www.commondreams.org/view/2009/07/18-4

Be sure to read the whole thing---including the comment by Walter Cronkite at the end.

Nice start by Carlos to call out this fraudulent biddy but it's not nearly enough.

That the goal of journalism now is not to impartially inform but to whip up ratings by any means to increase profit and return to the stakeholders. Having these circus freak Buchanans spout their bizarro world racist garbage fills that need nicely.

Sorry about that Walter Cronkite, these selfish, overpaid assclowns squandered everything you worked so hard to build.

time to turn off MTP, NBC, ABC, CBS, and cable news, and seek the news we need other ways. It's probably time to donate to PBS though, before it's too late for them.

Now we have both the Buchanan incest twins spewing their hatred and bigotry. Shame on MSMBC for airing or hiring such intolerable backwards morons.

Having the Buchanans on tv is probably the best advertisement the Democrats can be given. The occasional viewer tunes in and sees one of the Buchanans spouting off these bizarre tirades and the viewer had to say to themself, Is this what the republican party believes, is this what they are all about?

Does anyone have a link to MSNBC's "complaint line"? Let's get these racists off the air. These aren't "bizarre tirades" to some -- they speak to a lot of people who believe that the Great White Race should Be in Charge in Perpetuity. They may be in the minority, but they have guns, and they have used them with impunity in the last couple of months. MSNBC needs to get racists off their "pundit" line-up.

converts. Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.

One of the advantages of free speech is that it allows you to know people and their views so you can make your choice as to associate with certain individuals or not. Free speech serves as a filter and exposes one's deep feeling and allows you to either condemn or approve of their views. A good example was the last election and the chance it gave the American people to understand that we are far from ending racism and discrimination in this country and in a way, I think it helped Obama. Buchanan is a disgusting individual and I appreciate that I have the right to say so. I think that condemning Buchanan's view is the right thing to do, but criticizing MSNBC's choice to put them on air is not.

Maybe you lack the understanding of the first amendment and the opportunities it gives you to say anything you want, including dumb things.

NOT the right to a national, public forum.

I would pay money to see Bay Buchanan take a shit-pie in the kisser, on National TV...

how much? 'cause I wouldn't mind throwing it. and I know where I can get plenty of cow shit.

As Oliver Wendell Holmes said, free speech does not include the ability to yell "fire" in a crowded theatre. There is an element of discretion that must be followed.

MSNBC's goal seems to be pretty clear to me. Raise our ratings and profit to the corporation. Don't have controversy? Bring on flagrant racists and bombthrowers like the Buchanans and generate some.

There goal is not to serve the public, but ultimately serve themselves by whipping up unnecessary controversy. There are more than plenty of amateur trash talkers poisoning our airwaves today. Time for MSNBC and others to clean up their act by using some better discretion and provide the public with quality, thoughtful commentary that will lift up our political debate in America.

Ya, and it's only our responsibility to encourage people not to watch TV news-ertainment. Certainly don't take any opinions on TV seriously. It's the new TV reality, and that's the way it is.

Nobody is forcing anyone to watch it, your TV has a power button. Yes, they are in for the money, just like Olbermann, Maddow, Schultz and anyone else on the media. I don't see you complaining against them. I won't complain either, they have the same right to an opinion as someone as pathetic as Buchanan. Nobody is putting a gun to your head, or mine.

...race hate. Isiah Washington=racist rant=career in oblivion.
Dog the Bounty Hunter=racist rant=contract extension for cable television show.

From this bullshit and reading some of your previous comments it is clear you're a racism denier. The 1950's would have loved your ass.

I'm not a racist denier and there's not a single post I wrote where you can point that out. I'm for free speech, even if that will allow someone as stupid as Buchanan to spew his hatred. To be quite honest I think he does democrats a favor, as other have pointed on this thread.

Why do you call me racist denier when you have no basis for such accusation? Do you honestly think that just because you said so it makes it a fact? I'm not even white, nor I have anything against any race. In my life I've seen some very decent people of all races as well as some very vile people of all races. Let me name some bad people for you: Alberto Gonzales, Allan Keys, Bush, Rumsfeld, John Yoo, Bin Laden. Do you want to defend any and call me a racist? You have some growing up to do or you spend too much time learning from the right how to sling mud to see if some will stick.

And to answer Woody, nobody has a right to a national, public forum, nobody. The first ammendment doens't specify who has a right for free speech. Can you please explain further your interpretation of it and who it applies to?

Good for them! They should give a voice to the bigots. These people want to talk, so let them! Cable news audiences have already made up their mind what they will agree with.

Runs in the family, eh?

I didn't realize Pat married his sister.

Why do they have the same last name at this stage?

If she is married, wouldn't it be more conservatively respectful to use her husband's name?

And if she is divorced, why did she get a divorce? That's not very conservative of her.

name all this time, or reverted back to it when she divorced. And as I said earlier, I wonder what Pat thinks of Bay since she isn't under the "authority" of a husband...

Is the authority of the husband a republicanzi position?

Conservative Christianity is so focused on hierarchy and authority that it goes very well with Republicanism.

She's divorced with some kids. Plus she became a Mormon. Hard to understand considering the VERY VERY Catholic family she came from. She and Pat are certainly singing from the same book. They are offensive to say the least.

the need NBC feels to demonstrate the breadth and diversity of Irish American viewpoints.

Perhaps they can do a follow up on why Guinness is better for you for breakfast then orange juice.

There's a controversy.

And you know different. As you were told in a reply to you only two days ago:

ri, 07/17/2009 - 11:51 — Michelle

Buchanan has English, German, Scots Irish, and Irish ancestry. He had a great-grandfather who fought in the American Civil War on the Confederate side. He is a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and admires Robert E. Lee.

(meant for ricky)

good, I like seeing the Conservatives digging themselves in their own electoral graves by harping only to their shrinking base.

thumbs up Carlos for step-in on her

immigrant to help them dig their holes deeper and faster. The I am going to write it off on my taxes as a charitable deduction.

Bey Buchanan can howl all she wants about Sotomayor's "record," but all Buchanan mentions is 1) a trumped up case, 2) Sotomayor's reasonable liberalism in college, and 3) a voting-rights case that was perfectly reasonable.

Other than that, Bey Buchanan's entire arsenal of complaints consists of inappropriate adjectives and the creepy implication that white people deserve better treatment than non-whites.

Creepy old ideas die a whining, pathetic death.

The producers are out of ideas.

and discussion. He kicked her ass. He actually followed up her answers with relevant questions/points, and didn't just move on to his next prepared question/topic. The problem I see with most of these cable and network interviews is that 95% of the time the "journalist" or "reporter" doesn't really listen to the interviewee and make them explain the basis for their bullshit talking points. Bay got schooled.

when you have no fact I guess it's just find to outright lie. And remember this is the values crowd.

Is there any doubt that these people are an Anti-American political party hiding behind a bogus patriotism that they really don't believe in, they just want total control and nothing less will be accepted.

Maybe if we all started calling them what they truly are we can be rid of their poison once and for all.

the Republicans on the Judiciary Committee can get behind.

For the same reason the Globetrotters tolerate the Washington Generals. While there are many conservatives that hold racist viewpoints, there are few stupid enough to air them out publicly, Pat and Bay, on the other hand, are aggressively brain dead. They elevate stupidity to an art form.

i'd call it a scam craft...

MSNBC is as schizoid as half the cast in "One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest".
Seriously, why can't they commit like Fox did?

If MSNBC ever wants to gain substantial ratings they need a real commitment. They must stop sprinkling in the racist BS, having Joe Scarborough and his sidekick hack on, and remove the Buchanan's once and for all and then they might get some form of consistent viewing/ratings. Being the schizophrenic network isn't going to work. Screw the Buchanan's and their ilk!

Latoya...Michael. Bay...Pat.
Are you sure that's not Pat in Drag.

does anyone else notice that these racist fucks keep purposefully mispronouncing the judge's name to make it sound jewish?

Spanish surname, but you've got a point there. I hadn't noticed that, so thanks for mentioning it.

Usually the Buchanan's racist talking points sound better in the original German....

Verstecken der wienerschnitzel.

Thanks for the hate!

bay can change her face but she's still just as ugly on the inside. Pitty.

...pass the vinaigrette ;)

What else is new?

Oh yes, her new face.

The plastic surgeon did a very good job. I have been staring to see if the nerves still work and the face still moves normally.

The cheek implants are a bit stiff, don't you think?

She's old enough to be my mother and I am 57.

I've noticed that Republicanzi females are quick to change their faces. I find it kind of "dark ages" myself. It's self mutilation.

[Comment Deleted By Administration For Violation Of Terms Of Service]

I don't know what I said to be deleted? Perhaps referring to this hag as an empty-headed blabber mouth was too insulting?

I'd sure like to get a response from the site monitor as to what was against the "terms of service", which I read. Not having my original comment any longer, I am a little at a loss....but am a bit upset that it was taken down.

Ya, it's like.. oops! hey! wad' i do?

Isn't that what a jackass does?

They pretend to be your friend, but they all work for the same racist objective: keeping control in the hands of a few, wealthy, white, men. That's not what America and being American is supposed to be about.

to make up a new name for them. American Racist Party? ARP? Too close to AARP? AKLP? American Klan Legitimizing Party? WWW? White Wealthy Whiners? OWWW. Old White Wealthy Whiners. That's the one I pick.

.... of holding Bay accountable to facts instead of just spin, and talking points.

I felt the need to call that out because it is so freeking rare in today's corporate news media.

Hat's off to Mr. Watson!

This is all about a "brown" (even though Puertoricans are U.S citizens) accomplishing more than the "poor, attacked, prejudiced-against" white person (Remember that according to the Buchanans, the white population has suffered great injustices in this country for centuries, and now more than ever). So Bay Buchanan insists that Sotomayor is an "affirmative action" child, let's take a quick look to what Bay has for a resume and why there might be a little of this: "This latina has accomplished more in this life than I have. I don't mind a white male/female accomplishing this, but I hate the fact that Sonia has. Therefore there is no doubt that she received help doing so and does not deserve what should be rightfully a white person's". A little bit of Bay:

University: BA Mathematics, Rosemont College, Philadelphia, PA (1971)

University: MA Mathematics, McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada (1973)

University: University of New South Wales, Australia

US Treasurer (1981-83(Okay, I give her kudos that she was 32 when appointed)

National Conservative Campaign Fund National Advisory Board

Now here's Sonia's:

High School: Cardinal Spellman High School, Bronx, NY
University: BA, Princeton University (1976)
Law School: JD, Yale Law School (1979)
Professor: Adjunct, New York University School of Law (1998-2007)

US Appeals Court Judge, 2nd Circuit (1998-)
US District Judge Southern District of New York (1992-98)
Pavia & Harcourt Partner (1988-92)
Pavia & Harcourt Associate (1984-87)
New York State Official Assistant District Attorney (1979-84)
Yale Law Journal Editor
American Bar Association
American Philosophical Society 2002
National Council of La Raza
Phi Beta Kappa Society

Nominated to the US Supreme Court 2009.

See why there might be a little resentment. In the Buchanans' eyes Sonia should be cleaning their toilets, not sitting in the highest court in the country. Sad, Sad.

Sotomayor voted against the plaintiffs in race-based cases 90 percent of the time.

Is this supposed to be a plus?

it's how they operate. But what I'd really like to know is who of MSNBCs advertisers is sponsering this episode of wingnut welfare. Because I sure as hell am not buying what they're selling!

Not only does MSNBC allow the racist Pat to spew his hatred, they allow his sister Bay on, good Bye MSNBC.

All the plastic surgery techniques on the planet aren't enough to clean up that mug.
