Well they were all circling the wagons around Ed Henry at CNN tonight and talking about how angry President Obama looked when he responded to Ed Henry's gotcha' question. This hackery from Alex Castellanos was some of the worst of it. Obama is going to be a one term President because Castellanos doesn't like the way he treated Ed Henry who's suddenly the tough guy now in the White House press corps along with his buddies Todd, Reid and Tapper now that Bush is gone. The networks apparently decided to let their reporters grow a spine now with their questioning after eight years of being Bush's lapdogs.

Cooper: So Alex Castellanos from the right's perspective was the President accurate when he said I want to know what I talked about before I said it?

Castellanos: Well tonight I think we saw the first hint Anderson, and it's only a small hint of a President who could be a one termer. We saw some impatience beneath the surface ahhh, on this Ed Henry question, which I thought was entirely fair. You evidently our educational system is not in as good of shape as we thought because neither Congress nor Democrats there or the President could actually read the stimulus bill.

This is language that they wrote, that Congress voted for and the President signed and they still seem to be shocked and outraged and angry even that these executives at AIG took the bonuses that the Democrats and the President gave them.

Cooper: So why do you say this makes him a one termer perhaps?

Castellanos: Well there's a short step from self confidence to arrogance and tonight we saw some impatience that lies not very deeply beneath the surface of this President. This is a young President. This is a very confident President. But this is a President that does not really have a lot of economic experience as far as creating prosperity himself. He really doesn't have that much political experience and when tested tonight we saw a little flash just under the surface, again, small hint. I think this is still an incredibly popular guy and a gifted communicator but in advertising there's a saying. Nothing kills a bad product quicker than good advertising.

He then almost gets laughed off the set. Check out the looks on Anderson Cooper, Paul Begala and David Gergen's faces while he's talking. This is the same jerk that said it was okay to call Hillary the B-word and espouses the same sort of Republican dirty tricks as Karl Rove. CNN doing its best to compete with Fox by having someone like him on their shows.

one more river to cross!

If anything, Obama showed that there's a new sheriff in town and the gotcha journalism and faux press will NOT be tolerated. He skewered pathetic Ed Henry and made mincemeat out of his remains in one fell swoop.

Sure CNN will try to "spin" it differently but that's not the way the american people saw it. We're all cheering for Obama.

CNN has become a gang of frauds parading as serious journalists. Their viewership numbers are tanking. With moronic journalists like Ed Henry representing them, there's nowhere to go BUT down.

Obama scored HUGELY with the american people last night for eviscerating CNN and filleting the corpse of Ed Henry.

jdavidf's picture

That's exactly what I thought -- I couldn't believe my ears when I heard the "commentators", um, commentating! I couldn't wait to get to work this morning and discuss w/my office mate - we both agreed the president was, as usual, amazing. I mean, really, the man can string together 3 words and make a complete sentence. What's NOT to love? :)

Midtown Maniac's picture

Indeed!

It's great to have a president that:

1. Was actually elected by the people
2. Knows how to use the English language and
3. handles his job like an adult.

I read on another thread that little Eddie Henry is getting his ass handed to him at the CNN website.

He was totally punked.

Reid, Todd, Henry -- three partisan idiots pretending to be journalists.

You go, Barack!

Begala's comment was great.

Schunka's picture

The combined IQ of Castellano and Cooper still doesn't equal the intel of Paul Begala. hahahah! What assclowns these two have shown themselves to be.

Pity them. They're paid sycophantic fools.

spinn's picture

This looks like a one-term president because there's a short step from confidence to arrogance? Do we really have to make the obvious...oh God, how can these people be so blind?

I am really very, very strongly against off-the-cuff accusations of racism. I've seen a lot of cases where liberals have cried "racism!" about the right's treatment of Obama where it clearly was not. But in this case, man. How can you live with two terms of Bush arrogance, and then turn around and say this about Obama? It's almost like "that boy doesn't know his place."

I almost hate to say it. But man. How can you know Bush and say that you're a one-term president if you're arrogant.

offog's picture

You got that right, Spinn.

I couldn't believe Castellano's remark about it being a short step from confidence to arrogance. Uh huh. All those white guys like Bill-O, Rush, and George W. who are absolutely certain that they're on the side of the angels aren't arrogant?

BTW, my buddy Robert likes to check out the front pages of the tabloids every time he goes to Safeway. He tells me that the tabloids are way harder on Obama than they were on any other President in recent memory. I'm thinking about sending Globe Media Entertainment a nasty letter to tell them "So the black guy got elected President. Get over it and get a life!"

Castellanos and Cooper looked like unadulterated imbeciles.

But, keep talking, fools.....the damage you are doing to your network is unbelievable. You've become the enemy of the people by making inane and false statements.

What they've effectively done (singlehandedly) is raise Obama's popularity even more now. Discussions like this will ABSOLUTELY ENSURE A SECOND TERM FOR BARACK.

Watching assclowns the likes of these is hilarious.

Bob Roberts's picture

for President Obama.

First, with respect, he has to still be alive in 4 years. Given the increasingly violent rhetoric of some on the far, ultra-nationalist right, I expect there to be a number of attempts on his life.

Second, its all about the economy. If the economic situation is markedly better in 4 years, President Obama gets a second term (assuming my first issue doesn't come into play). If the economy is still in recession/depression, then the GOP return to power. This will happen regardless of whether the current administration's policies have any beneficial effect.

Schunka's picture

For the record: Obama has already accomplished more in 60 days than any other president in recorded history.

Perhaps the american people will do what the folks in NY did and permit three terms for Obama?

To suggest that he's a "one term president" will only ensure that he will serve for two.

Nice try, Castellano and handpuppet Anderson.

Also, will you accept that reversing Bushco policies will take time (especially, given that 47 out of 100 voters preferred McCain/Palin)?

i have heard nothing to indicate thiers any interest by this government to reverse the constitutional grabs by the bush gang, in fact the guy you voted for , voted for every bill bush asked for, i would assume he believed they were the right things to do, even though he said he was against them before he became the democrat candidate for president, and while im at it , afganistans the right war! since when?,

Ugly looks from Cooper? How about a SMACKDOWN when someone starts spouting partisan rhetorical crap about a 1 term prez 60 days into his presidency??? Not good enough. This is why CNN is losing the ratings race. They don't have the b*lls to take a stance and instead just play nice with fringe elements like this.

Look, we just got rid of a president who was installed by the Supreme Court, and by most of the world is looked at as a war criminal. He also sat idly by and watched the economy fall apart around his head and shoulders and put us in to what very well might turn out to be a second great depression, and this right wing shill has the cajones to go on national TV and intimate the Obama might be a one-termer. God help us, Satan himself is speaking through Castellanos now that Bush and Cheney are gone!

Tyler Durden's picture

Obama is going to be an one termer because he lacks the patience to deal with mentally challenged questioners?

I wish I was surprised, alas... this nonsense coming from the same camp who basically made "having a beer with" the only requirement for a two term conservative president, it is quite predictable.

Basically Mr. Castellanos seems to be under the impression that there is little difference between the office of the presidency and a summer camp instructor.

Blue Lensman's picture

CNN that is. Castellanos isn't worthy of attention or comment.

Dammit! I just commented on him!! :(

Couldn't they find something more appropriate for a mentally-retarded person to do besides "report" the "news"?

webegeeks's picture

This creep from the neo-con cabal also should remind himself that Obama has presented himself to more unfiltered public questioning in 9 weeks than Bush did in eight years. Oh wait, that's right, Bush always prescreened his audiences and had the news media so afraid of him they would piss their pants if he looked cross at them!

The president handled Ed Henry like any superior would handle an out of step underling. Henry asked the question in an inappropriate manner. He asked it three times and brought the presidents daughters into the equation. I felt that the president showed restraint. The problem with guys like this winger, is that the president is consistently the smartest guy in the room and it drives the wingnuts bonkers. They do not know how to handle it. One termer because of a stupid question by a lock step presser. CNN may be begging to be called on next time.

really do live and breathe in a different bizarro world. I would venture that 90% of the viewers saw that moment for what it was...a SMACKDOWN!

The one thing that Castellanos said that made sense (albeit obvious sense) was that it was a fair question. Well, sure it was a fair question, pretty much any question is fair. That wasn't the issue. The issue was that this particular question had all the relevance of "Mr. President, do you wear briefs or boxers."

They are so desperate to try to find a chink in the armour that they just make shit up in an attempt to sound knowledgeable. It is actually sad in some respects how lost the right is. If they would only move from their echo chamber into the real world, they would be much happier.

Why is that anyone from the left who is invited on these shows has to reasonable, moderate, and gracious to some extent, while the right-wing guests get to be as disingenuous, outrageous, and hypocritical as they can possibly be? Why are we still being subjected to these loons long after it's obvious what idiots they are and what kind of propaganda they're going to spew every single time out?

Are these media outlets so unable to change with the times and the tenor of the country? They just make themselves look ridiculous and discredit themselves by having these morons on their shows and pretending they're some kind of "experts" and/or intelligent commentators. Enough already.

I was telling people 8 months ago that all of the right wing hacks were secretly praying for an Obama victory because it's so damned good for their businesses when Democrats are in charge. The Limbaughs and Coulters and O'Reillys have built their careers on riling up the anger of liberal-haters. They're pretty impotent when the Republicans are in charge and they have to really stretch to blame every damned thing that's wrong with this country on Democrats. They can really let it fly now - and the media outlets are only too happy to oblige them.

Are certainly competing with FOX.
Someone that's been really irritating me of late is Wolf Blitzer, who day after day has featured one republican after another on the Situation Room to tear into the new President with relative impunity.
Blitzer is dangerous because his presentation is low key and designed to seem balanced.FOX is obviously biased and therefore its less likely a politically moderate audience would take them seriously. Not so Blitzer and CNN who to my mind, are engaging in an insidious and underhanded attack on the Democratic Party and are feeding people cleverly disguised right wing talking points.

I think he's been taken over by a Borg, or a pod-person. His presentations during the campaign, particularly late in the campaign, were informative and interesting and I thought pretty neutral, but lately, in the past month or so, he's been leaning heavily toward the FoxNews brand of program hosting: interrupt your guest before the guest makes his/her point, either to change the subject or to "take a (commercial) break" -- and he NEVER goes back to the previously discussed topic. Very irritating.

Wolf Blitzer has been a pandering right-leaning host for a much longer period of time. He showed some of his biases in his style of hosting and asking questions even DURING the campaign.

I just don't understand why the neocon right-wingers are always complaining about how MSM is "librul". Geez, how much more right-leaning do they want the MSM to be? Over in Fascist Land?

It doesn't count as questioning authority when you just ask a stupid question aggressively.

Did you guys actually watch the clip? Cooper asked Alex for his perspective, then joked on him noting Gergen was shaking his head and Begala was grinding his teeth. He invited Begala to respond. That's what Cooper does when he moderates, when some partisan windbag says says something ludicrous he invites someone from the other side to address it and polices everyone for civil discourse. It doesn't cast Cooper as a macho hero figure, but how many more big mouthed opinionated populist cable hosts do we need yelling at guests they disagree with?

I really do think it takes both wings to fly and as much as I may like Obama as a person, of course, but more importantly as a policy maker, there are reasonable alternative perspectives. I understand, at least to some extent, the needs of our corporate, commercial media.. nay, I bemoan those needs.. but Damn we have to do better than this guy Castellanos.

Castellanos's remarks, if anything, tell us how desparately pathetic his masters have become- only an arrogant, out-of-touch, power elite would try that shit.. It's gonna be a bumpy ride.

Nicely said. Why can't these TV shows, at least occasionally, be about having an honest debate among intelligent, reasonable people with different viewpoints? Is that too much to ask for once in a while?

I'd love to hear the conservative side of any given issue delivered by a sincere, intelligent, qualified person. I know such people are out there, but cable channels are dead set on pitching the circus tent and pushing their favorite performing chimps at us. And are Republicans so far gone that don't realize that these very troubling times demand for them to finally get some serious thinkers out front instead of this constant parade of hacks, quacks, and attacks? Unbelievable.

Why not have it on this website? Hell, I have a moderate viewpoint and I get vilified. Practice what you preach dear sir.

I'd hardly call your post about Obama's "socio-communist policies" and getting away with throwing feces at reporters and accusing all of us of being brainwashed "moderate." Is that your idea of what that word means? If so, you must also think Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck are moderates.

You're just a troll. A bummed out, lying ,negative, sore loser, short on good ideas, lost little troll.

If you bothered reading more of the comments you'd see that there are a lot of people here that disagree or aren't very happy with the Prez's work so far. Patriot Act, FISA, Afghanistan. That's just for starters.

Yet you try to say that you were objectionable about Boosh.
Don't make me laugh. Prove it. You can't.

no

I meant objectionable

But now that you mention it,perhaps both are adequate.
Either way, he's full of shit.

"think I am just a gop troll"

Yeah saying things like corporatist/socio-communist, which are by definition diametrically opposed, might make people think you're one of the DoughtyPantloads pals.

"just blindly listening to whatever is coming out of the White House and accepting it as gospel"

Or maybe we're actually intellegently analysising what he says and basing our opinions and comments on that.

Even beyond the sad Castellanos, CNN made a fools of themselves by overreacting in Ed Henry's defense to big bad obama's "snippiness". Most people i know, as well as some of the other news outlets, took that exchange as a somewhat interesting and appropriate retort to an obnoxious series of gotcha questions.

I guess the price for not questioning the patriotism (ala bush) of probing journalists, is the rise of camera mugging hacks like henry.

CNN just keeps going down the tubes. Right wingers are such morons. Obama's rating is at 64%, he's being called the Teflon President. After his second term we're going to want him to run a third time, I predict he'll be that good.

The one common thing I see in the Republicans is that they are nuts , definitely nuts , their circuits are shorted out . I used to think they were just plain evil but no , they are genuine nut cases who have found each other and taken over the Republican party .

...and dumber! What the hell kind of a question was that? How can this dumb ass Cooper guy ask a question like that? And then the answer! They just keep it coming don't they?

General Jack D. Ripper's picture

What's with these asswipes? They nitpick at every little thing they can find with Obama. It's maddening. CNN ought to ban this guy.

Bush had an approval rating of 95 % when he gave his "mission accomplished" speech after invading Iraq. You loved him when he was shedding blood. Obama will get the same treatment.

This isn't mathematics, doofus...these two men are clearly not equal. Obama has long ago proven he's a tad brighter than former President Crack and Jack.

You people are so accustomed to just saying anything...no matter how false or stupid.

luis stoole's picture

just saying...

Nobody for President's picture

Ed Henry and all the other corporate media asswipes like him (like this asshat Castellanos) are getting served by this President with every asinine question they ask, every bullshit meme they float out there. I heard it described this way; They're playing checkers, and he's kicking their asses at chess.

So, why even bring a nitwit like Castallanos on the show? This is one of the things I find MOST irritating about the media. How hard would it be for the to dig just a little deeper to find more interesting, more intelligent, and better informed people to interview.

CNN desperately wants Fox News' ratings and the only way they can think to achieve them is by becoming as pathetically obnoxious. In the process, CNN's quality has deteriorated horribly.

What was once a pioneering news operation with reporting heroes such as Bernard Shaw, Peter Arnett, and John Holliman has become a shadow of itself. We are left with instead:

*Sheep (aka Wolf) Blitzer
*John (please forgive me if I ask a question) King
*Larry (how will I get back to the home?) King
*Lou (I'm so mad I can't remember what I'm mad at) Dobbs
*Ed (watch me act like a tough guy now) Henry
*Fake holograph reporting and graphics overkill to no real purpose in election reporting

The only anchor left worth a damn is Rick Sanchez. And the only field reporter of any consequence is Michael Ware.

What a fucking dunce.

It's funny Alex Castellanos should bring up the "hard work" thing cuz I was sort of thinking the same thing when I was watching the press conference. Here's the only difference Alex - With Obama there's substance to back that up where he says it's hard work after he's actually done work to help this country. Bush on the other hand, repeated that with no work to show for. So just stfu you wannabe geraldo rivera.

Kudos to Paul Begala's response...

"AIG took the bonuses that the Democrats and the President gave them"

Funny, I seem to remember a whole bunch of Republican Congressmen and 'conservative' commentors saying just last month that the world was going to end and we'd all be communists if those bonuses were given out to the idle rich.

I observed this alleged confrontation - President didn't look or act angry. He had just a hint of a smile while Henry posed his question, and then he hit Mr. Ed right between the eyes with a superb answer. Teleprompters and "he appeared angry," is this all they have? Such disgusting people in the Media and the Republican party.

Repugs are going out of their minds looking for Obama's Achyle's Heel. They're just throwing any shit out there hoping that something will stick.

As for being a one term President, these guys are petrified that congress repeals the 22nd ammendment and we get another Roosevelt scenero.

I am very disappointed in Anderson Cooper. I thought he had more integrity than this. CNN and most of the major networks gave the Bush/Cheney crowd a free ride for two terms and censured Helen Thomas and others who questioned their policies and actions.
Now they start taking shots at Obama within his first 60 days in office.

People need to call out Cooper and these other jerks for their hypocrisy.

jmaster1999's picture

But beyond that, regarding a President talking about working hard, there's a really good reason it was funny when Bush said it and not when Obama said it - something called irony. Obama will have been in office another 2 years before he can spend as much time WORKING as Bush spent J*RKING OFF.

Never was a complete SLACKER elevated so far above his competence level as was George W. Bush.
