Orange County's Black Eye
As a follow-up to my previous post on the subject (Hate comes to Orange County), the reactions of the local Muslim and Arab communities to such vile intolerance and hate is as expected: shock and dismay.
Al Jazeera is, as Hillary Clinton said herself, a major world news broadcaster now, "like it or not". The Arabic version is now the most viewed broadcaster in the Middle East, and the English version has a large audience, especially on the internet. Bearing that in mind, if you were to tell any of these "patriotic Americans" [sic] seen in this clip that their ignorant actions were feeding negative perceptions around the globe, and endangering American lives you'd probably be met with either blank stares or more hate-filled rants about "not in my backyard!" nonsense. Or as Villa Park Councilwoman Deborah Pauly put it:
I know quite a few Marines who would be very happy to help these terrorists to an early meeting in paradise.

I think this is the end.
I grew up in the Civil Rights movement in Atlanta in the 50s and 60s. My parents held planning meetings in our house. Our lives and the lives of those I grew up with were threatened by people just like these.
I could tell story after story, none so gruesome as the torture-murder of the 3 Civil Rights workers in Philadelphia Mississippi, nor the bombing of the Birmingham church that left four little black girls dead, but story after story of intimidation, of growing up in fear because my family was involved in "race-mixing".
It made my blood boil to watch these scenes from Orange County.
It takes the enormous heart of a Martin Luther King Jr to recognize that it is the hater who is not free, that the hater is the one who suffers most, that they - the haters - lose the most from their hatred.

When will government of the people, by the politicians, for the corporations perish from this Earth?

It was supposed to be a nice afternoon sipping tea and lemonade talking about the weather.
Its just that gosh, darnit some people just get a little over the top when overcome with emotion and say rude words like 'knickers'. It all got terribly impolite.
I suppose that's what happens when good, decent white folk are faced with a existential terror of a fundraiser by foreign sounding people.
I did warn Gladys about inviting those nasty ruffians from the CCIR. It just got out of hand.
When you start thinking of how different these people are, you just can't help but threaten, scream, associate them with terror and suggest the best way to handle it is to murder them, by a representative of the people, no less.
Some people just have to have someone to hate in order to feel better about themselves. Most times ignorance is the root of hate.
These people have no idea what they are talking about but it makes their personal parts feel bigger than life when they do it.
Isn't this the way terror begins? By frightening people in order to get them to do what you want. It's difficult to make friends with people after you tell them you want them to be dead. When a Muslim here or there says crazy things we say they should be watched, shouldn't that be the same for these people.
Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.
As long as it's at a considerably higher level than YLPD or OCSD, both of which, from my experiences, are "these people", at least in spirit.

For example, the broad range of view on Israel itself... although I have serious doubts that there are actual Zionists who are also Progressives, many of us, myself included, recognize the state of Israel's existence as an established fact, whatever events in its inception (thing, Menachem Begin, the King David Hotel, and other issues). What about some of the commentors in the article? The CCIR, who was present & part of the demo is listed as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Centre. A quick google shows why.
So on top of xenophobia, racism and general hatred, a known hate group protesting, we also have guilty without charge or evidence.
I don't doubt the Malik Ali has some extreme views. That doesn't immediately cancel his right to free speech.
To support they argument they are all terrorists, the suggestion to murder these people but an elected official is appalling. Mate, you're defending the indefensible.
