The Worst Governor in America added to his saga the other night, further embarrassing his state. A local news team catches him in the act of lying repeatedly about travelling to Washington DC for the National Governor's Association conference with a Reno woman he had been linked to in 2007. Republican Governor Jim Gibbons is now in the process of ending his current marriage in divorce.

From KLAS in Las Vegas:

"Did you go with anyone today," asked Reporter Jonathan Humbert.

"Well, what's it to you? Yeah, I went with security," said Gibbons.

"And anyone else," asked Humbert.

"What's it to you," said Gibbons.

Karrasch became romantically linked to the governor after he sent her 800 text messages while they both were married to other people.

"No one else came with you on this trip," asked Humbert.

"No one. No one," said Gibbons.

"Kathy Karrasch didn't accompany you on this trip? She did not," asked Humbert.

"No," said Gibbons.

"She's not in this airport right now," asked Humbert.

"No," said Gibbons.

"She was not on that flight," asked Humbert.

"No," said Gibbons.

Later, after Karrasch was found to be in the airport as well, and even in the Governor's SUV:

"Governor, you told us just 10 minutes ago that Kathy Karrasch was not on this flight. Do you want to change your statement," asked Humbert.

"She was not with me in Washington D.C. I can't control where she goes or what she does," said Gibbons.

"So you just happened to be in Washington D.C. with her and just happened to be leaving in the same car as her," asked Humbert.

"Well, she was not in D.C.," said Gibbons.

Gibbons said he was giving her a ride because their Reno homes are near each other.

"The flight went into Vegas. She was not on that flight. She was on the flight coming from Vegas to Reno," said Gibbons. "It's a public flight. It's a public airport. It's a public plane."

"We are literally less than 12 hours away from a special session that's going to decide almost a billion dollars in cuts and here you are with a woman who's not your wife," said Humbert.

"You are full of shit. You are. You really are. All you're doing out here late at night trying to make a scene," said Gibbons.

A rather pathetic excuse for an explanation was sent later by the Governor's office via e-mail, more indignation than an apology with this breach of his privacy.

"I apologize for any ambiguity or confusion caused by my answers to your questioning of me late last night. I had just finished three days of arduous meetings and a cross-country flight when I was suddenly confronted with your questions. I admit I was briefly stunned to face your brazen inquiries about my personal life."

He continued, "What I do in my private life has nothing to do with my duties as governor. I would like to keep my private life just that -- private."

Perhaps Gibbons in unaware of who pays his salary.

He is one of the 40 million adult children we have running around America impersonating adults. They don't have the morals or the intelligence to make decisions in a sound and rational manner.
They should not be allowed to be part of government.
republicanism/conservatism is a mental illness, it has almost totally destroied our economy, our morals, and the sprituality of America!

in 2006 is still a mystery. Not one person I know voted for him. (Actually it was because of the rethug casino owners pushing him) He nickname is Zero, because thats what he does and knows. A chimp would have been a better choice. He should give his salay back to our state.

one term Zero will not even win the rethug primary this year. Last night he dumped on the rethug party and they are pissed.

I hope the door hits him in the ass on the way out of town.

Thats such a pathetic example of lying. As a Governor you would think he'd be better at it. Now Blago, that boy could lie with the best of 'em!

You are sooo right. The private lives of Republicans are sacrosanct. Everyone else...not so much.

Vote GOP and move forward to the 18th Century.

...it's the "Do as I say, not as I do" hypocrisy of these people, that makes them fair game to be called out on their bullshit!

Shadowgm's picture

When it was Bill Clinton, it was an impeachable offense.

When everyone thought Obama was scoping out a woman's ass in Europe, it was outrage and disgust.

But a Republican governor already known to be going through a divorce and handing out ham-handed literal truths to cover his ass, and suddenly it's nobody's business but his?

Right.

That when they went after Clinton, they caused ALL public figures to have NO private lives. Unless of course they meant only non-Repug public figures.

Dude! No no no, Clintoon wasn't impeached for felatio. No. He was impeached because the women he stained was *butt* *ugly*!

No, when you're caught it's got to be with a man, some young kid, a hideously old white woman, maybe a llama from Argentina, something like that.

Fat ugly women? That be a crime.

Yes, his wife and his gay male lovers, true.

I hope his "wife" meets him at the door with divorce papers in one hand and a claw hammer in the other. That would be AWESOME!

of the first order. The woman named in this story isn't the only one he was "involved" with while he was still married. I personally witnessed him with at least one other tart about a year ago in Reno. When he was inaugurated he had himself sworn in early at a "secret location." You know, just in case The Terrorists tried to take advantage of some imaginary gap in the continuity of government between himself and his predecessor. What an embarrassment to Nevada and the nation. Keep voting Republican, kids.

With all the boys and children and bathroom cruising, I was worried for a while. Glad to see them back on-board.

And that snarky answer from Ms. Karrasch is hilarious. They don't know when to shut up!

DamOTclese's picture

Ah. I see what you did there. LOL.

It's so ironic. I did a research study and then a report on atheists in the United States prison system and attempted to identify why atheists are grossly under-represented in the nation's prison system.

In a country where some 74% or so of the populace was Christanic at the time and some 12% to 20% (depending on the State) were atheists, less than 1% of the nation's prison populace is atheist.

The results were not that atheists are intellectually and morally superior (which they are,) the issue was one of illegal narcotics. Atheists, as one prison Warden told me, liked their reality straight up and utilize illegal narcotics far less frequently than theists do.

Theists perfer twisted delusion, fantasy, ergo theists use illegal narcotics far more than atheists do.

Where the Christanic irony comes to play is outside the narcotics arena in that the ethics and morals of the religious are demonstrably far less savory than the evidenced ethics and morals of atheists.

Hypocricy also plays a factor in the percentages of people caught acting immoral or unethical, but overall, religiosity overrides all other factors.

The religious are scumbags. Atheists behave the way that's expected in civilized socities.

You forgot to mention money laundering. When you have dope money or racketeering revenues that you need to clean, Las Vegas is the place to take it, no questions asked, give you anywhere from 40% to 80% for every dirty serialized buck you bring in.

I agree with the later poster: I hope Honey Wive meets this pile of Republican at the door with a sharp fork.

Whether it is Tiger Woods, Bill Clinton or a Republican Governor why should we care about their private lives? I don't see why a "reporter" should be asking such question of any one in the first place. We vote for politicians based on what they will do for us not the status of their marriage or who theit girlfriend is. I only care about TW's golf game not the status of his relationship of his wife.

Gibbons is currently in a special session with our legislature where he
wants to balance Nevada's budget by busting the teachers union so he
can slash teachers wages. He got into government positions so he could
destroy government. He is extremely arrogant, as witnessed by texting his
girlfriend 800 times in one month with a government cell phone while on
on the taxpayers dime, and then denying he was having an affair. But, like
Sanford, he will hold onto his job so he tear down government some more.
