A Satirical Elizabeth Warren talks about why she's running for the United States Senate.

"I'm Elizabeth Warren, and I will fix this $*%&* myself if I have to."

Seems like her real campaign slogan.

I was thinking that maybe I could open a guillotine-building and refurbishing shop for the upcoming battle. I sense a need for them soon, and no one seems to be marketing anything on the 'net. Are "passion" and "need to society" considered when applying for an SBA loan?

By the way, the loan is being held up (it's been approved) because our landlord has to ammend our lease to show we have an option to extend for the term of the loan (9 years) - so we may not get it after all. How messed up is that?

rental or lease? I mean, it might work out you stay that long, but... On the other hand, your landlord should be happy as Hell.

Like no small number of similar veterans of the “New Left” and the protest movement of the 1960s, Gitlin has proven wrong the old adage “you can’t go home again.” He could and he did. From opposing US military aggression in the 1960s and early 1970s, he became a defender of imperialism beginning in the 1990s.

As with many in this social and political milieu, Gitlin’s political evolution ever further to the right coincided with his entry into the increasingly comfortable layers of the upper middle class, whose own fortunes were bound up with Wall Street and the financial speculation of the 1990s and beyond.

Also like many of them, he made his crossover into the camp of imperialism during the US-NATO interventions in the former Yugoslavia in the mid-1990s, enthusiastically embracing military intervention and uncritically regurgitating the government and media propaganda that these wars were moral crusades for “human rights” and against “ethnic cleansing.”

What characterized Gitlin and this entire layer was their refusal to make any analysis of the strategic and economic interests being pursued by Washington and the other imperialist powers in these wars or, for that matter, the role that they had played in bringing about the economic and political disintegration of Yugoslavia, and the ethnic and nationalist tensions that exploded as a result.

Gitlin backed the US attack on Afghanistan as a “war of necessity” and, in the Iraq war, opposed the invasion launched by the Bush administration only on tactical grounds. In 2003, he upbraided antiwar protesters for carrying placards condemning US sanctions and bombings of the country. Gitlin scolded the protesters, insisting that such slogans were “emblematic of a refusal to face a grotesque world” and constituted a “rejection of any conceivable rationale for using force.” It wasn’t that Gitlin opposed war against Iraq, he just didn’t like the way Bush was going about it.

These are the ten planks of the Green New Deal:

* Cut military spending at least 70%
* Create millions of green union jobs through massive public investment in renewable energy, mass transit and conservation
* Set ambitious, science-based greenhouse gas emission reduction targets, and enact a revenue-neutral carbon tax to meet them
* Establish single-payer “Medicare for all” health care
* Provide tuition-free public higher education
* Change trade agreements to improve labor, environmental, consumer, health and safety standards
* End counterproductive prohibition policies and legalize marijuana
* Enact tough limits on credit interest and lending rates, progressive tax reform and strict financial regulation
* Amend the U.S. Constitution to abolish corporate personhood
* Pass sweeping electoral, campaign finance and anti-corruption reforms

PBS - 'Frontline' - the Anthrax Letters Files - just debunked the CNN hit piece on Bruce Ivins. It revealed evidence redacted by the FBI that refutes the claim that Ivins was the perpetrator. It included new evidence that suggests the Anthrax spores may not have come from the flask they claimed it did. The FBI case against Ivins has been reduced to a few bits of circumstantial evidence, so far at least. So I hope they put this one back on the front burner.

SEOUL, Korea -Yeouido is an island in the Han River where the National Assembly and Korean stock exchange is.

As the drumbeat of “Occupy Wall Street” is getting louder in the United States, a number of civic groups plan to organize similar rallies in Yeoido, Seoul, the home of financial giants and regulators.

The consumer rights groups, led by the Korea Finance Consumer Association (KOFICA) and Spec Watch Korea, are discussing the details about holding a protest in the “Wall Street of Korea” this Saturday, a KOFICA official said Tuesday.

“We were originally planning to hold a similar protest to the one in Wall Street after the Seoul mayor by-election on October 26th. But we’ve moved forward the schedule, because the movement is rapidly spreading as a global collective action,” said Baek Sung-jin, the secretary general at KOFICA.
