Ron Paul is an Idiot, Says Connecticut Gov. Malloy
Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy calls presidential candidate Ron Paul an idiot for his criticism of FEMA.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy called U.S. Rep. Ron Paul of Texas an idiot on CNN today for suggesting that the Federal Emergency Management Agency be denied funding and that Americans rely on private insurance to cope with natural disasters.
Three minutes into a live, five-minute interview about the impact of Tropical Storm Irene on Connecticut, anchor Christine Romans posed a long question about the criticism of FEMA by Paul, a tea party hero and Republican presidential candidate. Malloy answered in just five words.
"I think he's an idiot," Malloy said.
Romans seemed taken aback.
"That's blunt. That's quite blunt," said Romans, who began laughing.
Malloy, 56, a first-term Democratic governor now seeking a federal disaster declaration to bring aid to the state, said the money the U.S. is spending on two wars dwarfs the resources that go to FEMA and disaster relief.
"This is a ridiculous conversation," Malloy said. "I really don't understand what he's talking about, and I'm not sure he does."
"I think I hear a frustrated Democratic governor of Connecticut," Romans said, noting he still was coping with the aftermath of Tropical Storm Irene, which destroyed or heavily damage dozens of homes. "You're in the middle of a mess right now."
"It's not that," Malloy said. "I'm a supporter of FEMA."
He credited disaster planning by all levels of government for saving lives in a storm that pummeled the east coast from North Carolina to New England. FEMA's second in command, Richard Serino, was in Connecticut on Tuesday.
The exchange is one reason why Malloy has become a welcome guest on shows such MSNBC's "Morning Joe," where Malloy wasn't been shy about mixing it up with the host, Joe Scarborough, or exchanging barbs with Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey.

A couple of below average politicians who's mouths are out of sync with their humanity. How many more people are going to stand for their elected officials consistently legislate and pander to the wealthy class. At some point, perhaps when you're paying close to 40% of your earnings on food will riots erupt. Do any of you have any common sense at all? Ron Paul is right about saying that FEMA is a waste of resources. Anything run by government is inefficient. Saying that Dannel Malloy is "speaking truth" is ridiculous. He's nothing but a big government supporting shill. Ron Paul seems to be the only one who sees the failure in our government. Perhaps instead of talking smack you should go do a little research on the guy.
I love Republicans and/or conservatives/libertarians who claim "Anything run by government is inefficient" yet they opposed the government option for healthcare cause it would put insurance companies out of business cause they were too efficient. You and your ilk can not have it both ways so STOP LYING. Social Security and Medicare have far less overhead costs than any in the private sector.

Republicans put cronies and hacks in the office of FEMA, they appoint a horse show judge who knows NOTHING about disasters as it's top official, and when the agency performs terribly, they scream "Let's get rid of FEMA!"....
If FEMA isn't performing up to it's desired level, how about FIXING FEMA... not abandoning it!
And the idea that Gov't can't run anything efficiently is also rediculous! Compare costs when the military does certain things (provide meals, construct buildings and structures during times of war, etc. etc.) compared to the private sector! Compare the overhead costs, and level of satisfaction between private health care customers and Medicare. Medicare spends about 3.5% for overhead, while the private sector spends something like 15-18% on overhead.
If Ron Paul HATES government sooooo much.... perhaps he isn't the best choice to head it!
