This Week with Christiane Amanpour marks the passings of actor/painter Tony Curtis, actress Gloria Stuart, football Hall of Famer George Blanda and director Arthur Penn. However, we would be remiss if we didn’t also note the passings of comedian Greg Giraldo and television producer/screenwriter Stephen J. Cannell. In addition, the Pentagon has released the names of thirteen servicemembers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

According to iCasualties, the total number of allied service members killed in Iraq is 4,742; in Afghanistan, 2,124, of which, 152 are Canadian. During this same period, Iraq Body Count lists 39 Iraqi civilians killed. For the month of September, 247 Iraq civilians were killed.
