I wish you could have seen how the two chicks on early morning CNN covered this story. First they showed the president singing, then they compared that to Clinton and his sax, then they showed bush that time dancing and playing drums with that black drum group. The one chick said she loved bush's act and he had her from hello.

Our president rocks!

Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.

Very cool video, however not to be a wet blanket, but...

This growing sense that our president is expected to be "Entertainer-in-Chief" is a troubling development.

It's how you get Actors and Sport Stars elected to government. :(

We have a cool President and unlike Rick Santorum and his spouse, you KNOW Barack is bringin' it to the First Lady.

Vote GOP and move forward to the 18th Century.

Michelle the first lady hums this same tune while shopping at Target. I'm feelin all warm and fuzzy again. I'm wondering as well what tune Barry spews out when entertaining the Banksters and the Wall St. crowd, maybe "Pennies from Heaven".

Showing yourself to be human, which the president's somewhat shy yet entertaining performances do, is not imo about raising entertainment expectations but about revealing him to be that guy that you'd actually like to have a beer with. This is in contrast with leading Republican candidates who wouldn't drink a beer period, maybe not even a coffee and certainly not with you. I see no possible harm in this and a lot of potential benefit.

He wasn't being an entertainer, he was having fun, good fun too. Good for him. When I hear cool music I sing along too.

There is no fun in the GOP...unless it involves suppression of women and brown people, or having a party on the backside of a rent boy.

Vote GOP and move forward to the 18th Century.

I think Obama is just trying to drive the opposition crazy, that is, crazier. I just wish he'd do it by promoting / enacting actual progressive policies.

Just one more bit of evidence to add to the mountain of evidence that CNN is just another propaganda arm of the ratwanger 1% oiligarchy. FOX 'lite' - same BS but less filling.

Ah, who am I kidding. There are no pauses between freakouts.

i guess i don't understand the whole strike-out of 'alabama' in the post by karoli...

this is afterall just a straight cover of 'sweet home chicago', not a play on 'sweet on alabama'

Oversiter's picture

I agree with Samson. "Sweet Home Chicago" is the gold standard by which to measure any other "Sweet Home....." tune. (And he did a fine job of it...)

that IS one cool President you have, with that much talent on stage, last thing I would want is a mic in MY hand.
(and lets just not tell the Fox yappers that Robert Johnson was a known satanist who sold his soul to the devil /snark, cause who knows, they MAY possibly just try to run with THAT one ... like 'til next August ... ).

When will government of the people, by the politicians, for the corporations perish from this Earth?

Not soon enough!

Blues night at the white house is held each year as a part of black history month. What part of that should be canceled?

Yeah,
Your prob. not from Chicago so I forgive you.... Obama 2012. What a good sport for singing it. However, it is a little offensive that you confused the two songs. Sweet home Alabama is a country song. Chicago is a blues city...
