Mike Huckabee pretends like the tea baggers are not an astroturf movement already and that any semblance of them being a grass roots movement has not been dismissed a long time ago. This had to be one of the strangest panels I've ever seen on Fox with Geraldo bringing in Jesse Ventura, Mike Huckabee and Rod Blagojevich to weigh in on the latest event with Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin doing their best to scare the crap out of the American electorate in Tulsa.

After showing some footage of Beck and Palin at their Taking Our Country Back tour, Geraldo has Huckabee and Ventura weigh in. Huckabee of course tries to pretend this group is still a grass roots movement and also fails to acknowledge that the two people he's being questioned about are his fellow employees at ClusterFox and the role they've played in promoting the movement.

Ventura dares to point out that the tea baggers are not anything that could be considered a grass roots movement and Rivera makes sure he doesn't get to say much more about it before ending the segment.

Rivera: Governor Huckabee, last time you were on this show you made a little bit of news when you said of CPAC, the traditional conservative wing of the Republican Party that you were rejecting them at least as an organization and in some ways because you thought that they were bought off by the various lobby groups ect.

Huckabee: Well there was an article...

Rivera: I don't want to put words in your mouth...

Huckabee: Yeah.

Rivera: But are you embracing the tea party activists. Do I read that from you?

Huckabee: Yeah the tea party really I think represents something completely different. It is not a trade show and you know it was interesting that there was more reaction to the article about my comments on your show than actually what I said. What I pointed out was and it was interesting that Politico, the web site was the one that blew it up, it was Politico and Mike Allen from Politico who had written an article talking about how the ACU, the over all sponsor of CPAC had squeezed Federal Express for two million dollars to fund this initiative that they were going to do and they rejected it went to UPS to take the opposite position, saying we'll write editorials, we'll...

Rivera: You point that they're the establishmentarianism people and the tea party are the real passionate folks?

Huckabee: The tea party people is still a stallion. It's still a stallion. It hasn't been completely saddled and nobody is riding it. There are people who want to ride it, but it's still out there on the wild.

Rivera: But they (?_).

Ventura: Well first of all, I don't think the tea party is such a grass roots organization. I think they're being financed and being... there's more than just grass roots going on now.

Huckabee: I think there's some people who are after them and want to take them over, but I don't think anybody has been able to capture them and I think the moment that that happens they're done.

On fox this morning they said over 6000 people showed up at the Palin/Beck sideshow. I have to wonder what the real number was since fox has been known to put their thumb on the scale a few times.

This is kind of fun, watching the republicans try to cozy up to the tea baggers while at the same time keeping them at arm's length.

Rove was asked this morning if he thought Palin would be a presidential candidate in 2012. He said if she prepared herself and then tossed in, "she was a vice presidential candidate in 08". Yeah, and how did that work out for the sane republicans?

and usually multiplies it by ten, than by ten again. So the actual number was probably 60.

If Sarah's whole family was there that might kick the numbers up a bit. Then you add in Beck's imaginary friends and you get a few more.

That's not a thumb. It's Roger Ailes's fat arse.

Oops, my mistake. From where I am it looked like a thumb. Upon closer inspection, you're right.

Jesse Ventura is a voice of reason on that show and too few want to tackle what he is talking about. Notice how Geraldo shuts down the debate on the Iraq War when Jesse brings up no Iraqis were on the Airplanes that flew into our Buildings.

Here's Jesse's new book he has been making the media rounds to publicize. It brings up some pretty interesting topics and covers a lot of history too few are comfortable hearing about.

He still amazes me that he was a Navy Seal in Viet Nam, Harvard Professor, Professional Wrestler, and Governor of Minnesota as an Independent.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Refreshed from a semester as a visiting professor at Harvard University, former pro wrestler and Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura (search) says he's considering an independent run for the White House in 2008, although he acknowledges that being leader of the free world might be too confining for him.

...considering this wallpaper you're throwing up.

You made an account just to post that comment about Jesse Ventura's Navy record (a point that was hashed & re-hashed years ago when Ventura ran for Governor). Who's funding you?

Jesse watcher's picture

I hate to see the memory of those who were there diminished by wannabe's like Jesse Ventura. Make no mistake UDT is tough and proud. Why embellish what you did? Jesse gets caught in his own stories. He can prove me wrong with his DD214. Every vet has one and it shows where we were, our MOS and awards we recieved.

The Tea Party movement was totally manufactured and financed by FOX, and consists of far right wing uneducated white supremacists. You won't see too many black people or Latinos in a Tea Party audience.

These people are such complete dupes (tea baggers), that they want to take the country back from the liberal socialists; when in actuality, this country is owned buy rightwing corporate fascists!

You can't fix a problem, if your so damned stupid that you cannot identify the problem - or if you are part of the problem.

If I were a psychopath, I would join the republican party, and get in on the gravy train taking the Teabircher morons to the cleaners.

Much of the deficit Obama has in front of him was created by GW Bush- yet Republicans now argue Bush inherited his debt from Clinton, and Obama created the current deficit all by himself- Are these people unhinged?
Remind a Republican of the reckless spending of Reagan and the Bushes, you'll be greeted with silence, or with threats of physical violence.

Here is a question- when is the last time a Republican prersident balanced the budget?

This video hurt my ears, Palin's voice is even more schrill than Edith Bunker, and of course Beck was busy on his crazyboard...

Jesse makes claims for things he never did. Have him provide his DD214 to show he was a Seal or in Vietnam. He won't do it because he was never a Seal and never in Vietnam. He should be charged under the stolen valor act.

Justice’s wife launches ‘tea party’ group
The nonprofit run by Virginia Thomas, wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, is likely to test notions of political impartiality for the court.
By Kathleen Hennessey
March 14, 2010

http://www.latimes.com/news/nation-and-world/...

Reporting from Washington
As Virginia Thomas tells it in her soft-spoken, Midwestern cadence, the story of her involvement in the “tea party” movement is the tale of an average citizen in action.

“I am an ordinary citizen from Omaha, Neb., who just may have the chance to preserve liberty along with you and other people like you,” she said at a recent panel discussion with tea party leaders in Washington. Thomas went on to count herself among those energized into action by President Obama’s “hard-left agenda.”

But Thomas is no ordinary activist.

She is the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, and she has launched a tea-party-linked group that could test the traditional notions of political impartiality for the court.

the teabaggers are not a grassroots movement is to look at who is leading them. A true grassroots movement would not need Glenn Beck to egg it along.

I still think we could use the teabaggers if we had a concerted mind to. If we could infiltrate them with some strong, charismatic folks, who in turn would point them at K Street, that'd be useful. It would also call Beck's hand AND an anti-K Street teabagger movement would give us all a sense of poetic justice.Sort of like turning the corporations' cannons on themselves.

You have one group of people full of self-pity who fancy themselves as victims of a liberal government when in fact much of that government has changed little from the previous regime. Another group of people who cynically manipulate their feelings of self-pity and victimhood, thus perpetuating that attitude. The fact that the country is controlled by big business and that government has to ask permission to go to the bathroom is totally lost on these people. It's about as grassroots as poison ivy grown in a hothouse.

I followed your link. Harvard itself lists him as a former "Fellow," and goes on to descibe: ( http://www.iop.harvard.edu/Programs/Fellows-S... )

"The Fellows Program represents a unique opportunity for political practitioners with diverse experiences and viewpoints to spend a semester at Harvard. Fellows interact with students, participate in the intellectual life of the community, and pursue individual studies or projects. ... Study groups present a tremendous opportunity for students to learn informally from leading public servants, political practitioners, journalists, academics, and more."

I kind of like Jesse Ventura. But being a guest Fellow giving one lecture and/or leading a study group is not the same a being a professor. Neither at Harvard, nor a community college.

I love how outraged Palin is about the Deficit now that a Democrat is
in office. The old game of let the Repubs. run up the Deficit by putting Two wars on the credit card and totally neglect everything else.
To bad palin could not fit the word Hypocrisy on her hand a word that personifies the Republican Party like no other.

You're playing semantics. While technically he was UDT or a "frogman" if you will. The UDT and Seal missions were complimentary enough for the Navy to merge them at which time it became acceptable for all former UDT's to call themselves Seals. If the Navy no longer makes a distinction between the two why would you? They may not be exactly the same thing but they were similar enough that the Navy has no problem with it therefore he has not broken any laws or stolen any Valor hence why he's never been charged for it.

Now, having said that, please understand I am not defending his actions. I'm only offering you an explanation.
