A Tea Party Family History?
Think Progress' Lee Fang has been doing research on the billionaire Koch brothers for some time now and this week author Jane Mayer also wrote an extensive piece on them for The New Yorker, Covert Operations: The billionaire brothers who are waging a war against Obama.
Lee Fang appeared on Countdown to discuss his research at Think Progress.
For the past two years, ThinkProgress researcher Lee Fang has been digging into the nefarious activities of the Koch family, reporting on their funding of the tea parties, the depth of their astroturfing, and their family’s record of right-wing radicalism.
Using a great deal of TP’s research, The New Yorker’s Jane Mayer published a lengthy article this week that gives the “Kochtopus” ideological network the mainstream media attention it deserves. In order to “alter the direction of America,” the oil family has been “giving money to organizations fighting legislation related to climate change, underwriting a huge network of foundations, think tanks, and political front groups.”
Jane Mayer joined Rachel Maddow the following hour to discuss her article in The New Yorker.

The rich are too rich.
It is sad that slugs with wealth spend their treasure just to mess with other people.
"I know that there are people who do not love their fellow
man, and I hate people like that! " ~ Tom Lehrer (1928 - )
What will they do with the tea party people when they are finished using them?
Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.
Steep in hot water and strain?
I'm just guessin'

Hate doesn't stay bottled up; it needs an outlet. When there are finally no other people left to hate, they'll turn on each other. It's inevitable.
"Whatever your particular problem is, I promise you, the Republicans are not the least bit interested in solving it. They are interested in two things, and two things only: making you afraid of it, and telling you who's to blame for it."
As I always say, one lives and hopes.
The GOp have counted on radical right wing zealots with boat loads of cash for a long time.
They went after Carter, The went after the Clinton's. They went after Kerry. They're going after Obama.
They're willing to spend a fortune on character assassination. All this talk about totalitarianism.sheesh.
What is your conceptual, continuity?
teabaggers are just a bunch of reps that are pissed off at the fact that they are not the ones fucking you over. Oh well, at least they aren't political environmentalists, they're fucking nuts.
OK, we're all just poor peons, but we can CERTAINLY stop buying Brawny paper towels, Georgia-Pacific plywood and a host of other products these two make their money on. I hope to read the entire article or do some research to see what other products I can boycott. It may be just a little, but if we band together, each little snowflake could turn into a giant snowball rolling this crew downhill.
The Koch family has been throwing their money down the rathole of regressivism for decades.
This latest stream of extremism will fade, as it has always done in this country. Yeah, we'll go through hell but eventually the right will tire, and the majority of Americans will come to realize that fomenting violence really screws up their ability to feed their families. The economy will improve, the homosexuals in the workplace will not be fucking in the hallways at work, daughters and sons will come home from college with significant others of a different color in tow and a Muslim athlete will lead some league in some scoring category and fans will cheer.
Progress can be delayed but not denied over the long haul.
Nothing here to get Koched up about.
Vote GOP and move forward to the 18th Century.
Koch Industries is a MAJOR polluter. Their politics are all about money. Cutting regulations means they save money.
It's like Al Capone financing a political party with the goal of reducing the budget of the police department.

Isn't that one dude just Steven Colbert in old guy make up?
Just what I was thinking! His writers should get on this. Golden material.
get teeth that don't look like Chicklets.
This site's pretty slick now! I got used to the old way, but I'm liking this.
Anyway, on topic-
The krazy brothers here certainly have too much money to spend, it seems.
I think the Dems should hold the line and make those tax cuts expire on schedule.
.
at all times. They fund ALL politicians, regardless of party affiliation. And most of the pols take their money. We should just scrap this USA experiment and try again. Obviously, this one has been unsuccessful, but we can learn from our mistakes, can't we? Huh?
Don't you lazy fucking assholes get it? These guys worked so hard for their fortunes. They are a couple of regular Galts here god damnit! Supermen living among us! Just listen to them as they know exactly whats best for us!
The wingnuts have lots of guys like these...Richard Mellon Scaife, the Coors family, the Bradley Foundation, Sheldon Adelson, Carl Lindner, George Argyros, Stanley S. Hubbard, Peter Thiel, Dick Farmer, Roger Milliken and a host of others. Yet the conservatives wet their pants at the mere mention of george Soros' name.
Why aren't these bast**ds paying more in taxes?
Why isn't there a wealth tax on people like this?
If they were paying taxes and contributing to our society, then they wouldn't have so much to spend on teh evil.
If I were a psychopath, I would join the republican party, and get in on the gravy train taking the Teabircher morons to the cleaners.
Are Tea Party members just poor duped Koch Suckers
