I do think Bush received a regular degree from yale. Did they give him an honorary degree as well?
I could have received a degree from yale as well. Even with my C+ average from highschool I could have gotten in through the legacy program. But after walking the campus, in my 16 year old wisdom I decided I was not yale material.

The last state to approve of MLK day as a holiday, and who has as a sherrif the last known memeber of the SS...Joe Arpaio. Obama probably laughed his ass off at that rejection.

The best think about this is that ASU may never overcome being a laughing stock. Their image as a semi-glorified community college may be forever set in stone over this.

That speech the President gave yesterday was amazing. He faced the differences straight up and cut the knees of the pissers and moaners right off. Really!

They might have it at cnn. I watched it live yesterday. There were three or four hecklers but they were escorted out. If you watch the video you'll see that when president obama is sitting in the chair after he had gotten the degree but before he gave his speech, you'll see a large blond guy in a robe sitting behind the president on the left. This man was always looking around, he never clapped or anything. I was thinking what a jerk, but I think my husband nailed it when he guessed the guy was secret service.

What was the real reason he is not getting an honorary degree? Is it because he is black or a liberal or maybe a double sin that he is both?
Maybe they are not giving it to him because he switched parties?
I think they have done a pretty good job of reinforcing the fact that ASU has their collective heads up their asses when it comes to even recognizing "accomplishments in life" as well as so many other things.
This will ALWAYS be a blemish on their f*cked up reputation. Nice going Sun Devils. Just who made this goofy ass decision? They need to be ashamed to death.

ASU's "reason" for not giving Obama an honorary degree was that he had not "completed a body of work" that would merit a degree.
Obama's Commencement Speech at ASU centered on the importance of one's "body of work" - emphasizing that one's work is NEVER complete.
He rubbed it in their faces!
And THEN .. in his Commencement Speech at Notre Dame, he continued rubbing it in ASU's face by noting that he (Obama) is only 1 for 2 in receiving honorary degrees but Notre Dame's Father Hesburg is 150 for 150.
They were BOTH great speeches.
I love how ASU is trying to pretend to be exclusive and upper-echelon through a hilariously misguided insult to the President.
Only a heavily self-deluded university administration would think that they're doing the president a favor by letting him speak at their prestigious institution but that he isn't quite worth giving an honor to.

That was an incredibly dumbass move on the part of ASU. It certainly doesn't do much for their reputation. In only diminishes them to the level of being nothing more than a petty, small time operation. I mean REALLY, who would want to go there?!? They should be very embarrassed. After all, this is what they will be remembered for the next time their name comes up in conversation, like..."isn't that the dumbass college that refused to give the first African American president an honorary degree?" Notre Dame on the other hand is a totally class act, just like the president.
President Obama had too much class to tell ASU to stick their request to speak up their "shiny metal asses". He exudes class, but the lameos at ASU thought that they could marginalize him by inviting him to speak, then disrespect him with their actions. Is it a coincidence that ASU happens to be in John McCain's home state?
Again Barack turned the tables and made them look like fools, just like he has done over and over again, most recently at Football U, oops, I mean Notre Dame.
