Scarborough and Halperin Claim Obama's Poll Numbers Are Down Because He's Too Polarizing

From Morning Joe, Nov. 24, 2009, Joe Scarborough and Mark Halperin think Obama's poll numbers have dropped because he's too polarizing. Of course by "polarizing" they mean pretending that he's governed from the left, which he hasn't. They go on to compare him to Palin and say he's only playing to his base like she is. What's up is down and down is up...and round and round we go with these two. Obama's numbers are down because he's ignoring his base and not following through on his campaign promises, not because he’s run too far to the left.

He is letting the republican idiots get in the way. That and the fact that fox and the msm corporate owned and operated media is doing a good job getting to those 25% morons scattered through out the country.
republicanism/conservatism is a mental illness that is killing America!
this was a woman who refused to lead into a story about Paris Hilton because she felt it was beneath her dignity and professionalism to talk about it on MSNBC.
yet, Mika doesn't mind whoring for the right wing propaganda machine. "just not in my eye!"
... god knows what Halperin could photoshop next to Scarborough.

Of course his poll numbers are down.
He's been president for all of what, eleven months now?
He tries to extend unemployment benefits, republicans block him.
The benefits pass, republican governors refuse it
Then they turn around secretly in the night and use it to help balance their budgets, as per state balanced budget laws, but don't give credit where credit is due, like rick (all hat no horse) perry
He is blamed for bailouts his predecessor was responsible for
He inherited an economic mess
And whatever he does to solve the problem is accused of socialism
And then when the problem doesn't go away of it's own accord he's blamed for it not going away
And sometimes they blame him for there even being an economic emergency, never mind the last eight years of deficit spending, two wars, and tax-cuts to the wealthy in the middle of all that.
... Dana Perino can attest that there was no terrorist attack during the Bush term, it's not much of a stretch to make Bush into an economic genius.
maybe she can work her bushian magick for obama now--that should help
Wouldn't Michelle beg to differ?
Obama's poll numbers are down for only one reason: The economy. I does not matter who the president is with near 11% unemployment a lot of people are frustrated.
How does Scarborough explain that even though Obama's numbers are down, the Republican's polling numbers are far far worse? And have not really improved?
Given the economy it is suprising just how good Obama's numbers are and looking at the Republican party, where less than 20% now identify themselves as Republican, they are in far worse shape. For all their teabagging and complaining they have gotten absolutely no where.
The Republicans cannot even win in NY23, a very conservative district that the Republican held for 150 years. The Democrats have now won 5 out 5 congressional seats since Obama was elected. They have added to their majority.
mostly because of the way the media portrays him. If they repored facts instead of opinions his numbers would be somewhat higher but unemployment is a factor.
- Is there a decrease in Democrats who believe Obama is doing a good job / the right thing?
- Is there an increase in Republicans who believe Obama is doing a good job / the right thing? This number changes importance if there's a drop in Democratic support.
But if the media actually reported on facts I don't think it would do much to improve his ratings.
He's expanding on Bush's rendition and detention policies
Escalating the privatization of military operations
He's continuing to abstain from the Landmine Treaty
Continuing Cheney's executive branch assasination squad.
And these are just a few from one category. If you want to see of list of his domestic policies that would make you want to cry just let me know. And, blaming the republican obstructionists is a cop out. He's managed just fine exerting executive branch powers like Bush did for the things he wants.
I think on the economy, he's doing all right. He took a precipitous slide and has slowed down deterioration considerably. Today's unemployment statistics were not all that bad. While there are considerable people unemployed, there are also considerable people with 201Ks that would like to see them restored to 401Ks, and the stock market rebound has gone a long way in accomplishing that. I suppose the economic perspective depends on what state you reside in. I don't think Obama is being blamed for the loss of wealth associated with the reduction in real estate values.
I think where he's taken a hit is on health care, where he wants to cover the uninsured by means other than cost reductions. His poll numbers would soar if we went single payer, or otherwise created cost relief in health expenses, considering we pay 50% more per capita than other countries, but he and Baucus seem joined at the hip, with identical talking points. Between the town hall fiasco's and lack of meaningful cost relief, along with the mandate - that's where he's taken the hit.
..maybe he should apply for a job at FOX.
Let's hope that MSNBC gives him the Lou Dobbs treatment sooner than later.
He did. Unfortunately, now he has Lou Dobbs bucking for the same job.
However, all indications are that we are in the last throes of Morning Joe.
How are HIS numbers doing? ;o)
sounds like the start of a very unfunny joke.
and, question, is this a good spot to insult mika too? nothing makes me smile like some good ole 'morning joe' insults (joe, mika, barnicle, the whole lot of them suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck)
...that this pig eyed murderer's shitty show's ratings are down 43%. Scarborough should be "polarizing" to any female.
I rather suspect Obama's numbers will plummet further if this happens:
http://www.wsws.org/articles/2009/nov2009/afg...
.
... is not a strategy.
It's laughable that the very people who insist upon a surge are also the ones who insist we can't spend our way out of debt.
And you can't 'surge' your way out of a Charlie-Foxtrot, either.
Cluster fudge?

Obama's "polarizing" because the racist white teabaggers can't get over that there is a black man in the White House and they lost.
I love how the "non-polarizing" Scarborough and Halperin bash DC and Manhattan while talking about how divisive Obama is.
and stop bitching. Obama is a failure at best, and might very well be bush w/ black face paint on. Obama 'governing from the left' is a joke. It hasn't happened and won't happen because he has embraced the status-quo, picked geitner and summers to listen to regarding the economy, and a bunch or warmongering generals to listen to regarding wars and foreign policy.
I had the Audacity of Hope, but now.......where is my dope!?!
he blamed the lousy economy on the selfish me-first attitudes of BABY BOOMERS. WHAT A CLOWN.
Is this why he's been steady among Democrats, i.s. his base? He's down to 10% approval among people who would never vote for him anyway. Among the base and independents he's held steady. Any poll drop is entirely accounted for by teabagging maroons.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_Kh7nLplWo
are they down or steady.....make up ur mind.....
He aint' steady w/ me, I'm done w/ him and his pathetic attemp at leading. I'll go back to wasting my vote on Nader instead of wasting my vote on a do nothing DINO.
Even though getting Democrats together on anything is like herding cats, nadir wouldn't even have a party in Congress to help him advance his agenda.
You're saying that a progressive agenda by Nader would have had no party backing it if (big if) he'd been elected?
Doesn't that just prove Gus' point? That Democrats don't give a hoot about advancing progressive policies?
I'm glad I voted Green Party in '08 and will again if the Dems don't offer up a real alternative.
Not necessarily, what if Democrats lost control of Congress to republicans?
And progressives, independents and tea baggers all say they are not part of any particular party, but all have different solutions.
You will likely get the same result.
DINO's and repubublicans give us "the same result."
you are too angry to try to reason with.
but I'll listen to ur "reasoning" as to why Obama deserves ANY support.......What has he done to make you support his policies? WTF are his policies?!
Obama's promised he's going to look into helping middle class and poor people. Just like he spent a lot of time on this Afghanistan ordeal. If we had a Republican they'd have never given lip service to these ideas and just enacted the same policies. See, if we had a Republican we couldn't feel good that they at least "considered" other ideas.
Is it better to have a president who "goes by his gut" or one who "thinks a long time about things and works for a consensus" if they come to the same conclusions?
Is bi-partisan corruption better than partisan corruption?
... then you haven't been paying attention.
among the Obama fan club?
That explains a lot, certainly.
God forbid we get some war-mongering, corporate sell-out, environment ignoring, faith-based loving, anti-abortion, anti-gay Republican hellbent on privatizing every essential industry he can!!!
Then we'd have had a Stupak Bill, DADT would never have been repealed, the US would have never joined the world leaders in groundbreaking climate policy initiatives, we'd still be absent from the landmine treaty and nuke test ban treaty, home-owners and small businesses would be starved of attention in this awful economy, Guantanamo would still be up and running and there may have even been an expansion of executive secrecy and indefinite detention, there could have been ratification and expansion of the Patriot Act, we'd never have gotten single-payer healthcare and conservatives would have had the entire political system under their control.
That would have been awful.
Obama can't lead the willfully illiterate. What part of "Democrats have held steady while teabaggers have not" is not understood? I'd give you the numbers but Nader would call them a corporatist conspiracy, at least while he's not gambling on the stock market.
That you refuse to be able to read is not his problem ,teabagger.
obama's numbers amongst indeps have been falling.

Therefore, Joe has a "new" Fox news poll that shows the President and Barbie Plain running equal. No one else knows about that poll, it must have been released at “like 3in the morning” or something. Yea, in you sleepy dream maybe. This must be the same as Becks College or poll of "I cannot remember". It is amazing just how you make something up and BAM it is a fact because you seen it somewhere, and the bobble head next to him just agrees and goes on. This show has about as much entertainment value as Beck and Hannity.
Who they contacted to fill out the 3 a.m. poll:

They just like talking about Obama's poll:

Oh Dim supporters who have no where to go?
Well Red Rahm you and your boss are going to find out.
The U.S. military currently has BASES in 135 of the world's 196 countries. The country could cut more than 80 percent of its military budget and still spend more than any other nation.
That Palin poll shows what we already knew. There are a lot of stoopid white peepul in this country.

Hey Scab, tell us about that intern found dead in your office first then you can mouth-off about Obama.
Photoshop spooge dude has cred anywhere? Along with Mr Ratty and Miss Priss? Please...
Is Perino more full of shit than Palin? This is quite the whopper of a lie:

I think they are looking at the world through Rove colored glasses.
:)

good one!
Joe's got to be crazy if he thinks that Lou Dobb's will unite us.
BS. It's not Obama, it's all those silly conspiracy theories.
found out he was a Democrat.
The countless hours of lies and hate must have some effect.
Given the lack of legal action against the previous administration for, you know, breaking the law and stuff, on top of the concessions he's been willing to make in regards to health care reform, Afghanistan, et al, I'd say Obama's a little TOO anxious to appease the people who hate him.
The right wing memes against Obama are always bullshit. Obama's down for not being liberal and anti-war enough, at least with Progressives. And for not leading more forcefully on health care.
Btw Memo to NBC: cancel that steaming pile of horseshit with Scarbullo, and please give us liberals a real show or stop calling yourself the liberal channel.
Test patterns can get better ratings than Scarborough.
Even better...put on a Ron Popile infomercial.
that he's acting too much like a Dick Cheney Jr. then I'd agree with them.
Looks like the American Nazi Party is going full swing they are even allowing their WHORES to mumble and Babble, not that they are allowed to say anything, or that they could everyone knows the WHORES on the American and In Nazi republican party are just that window dressing for the impotent and she never has a original thought except what the WHORE is TOLD to say.
So goes the American Nazi Republican Party and their WHORES.
of course you either hate or love sarah palin because there's no actual debatable content under her talking points mask.
also you have to wonder who made Obama a polarizing figure. Certainly wasn't himself cuz he's been unbelievably patient with his adversaries. It was you, MSM and GOP!
In what way, pray -- apart from simply being a Democrat and an African-American??? True, Obama has been losing support among some Democrats who feel that he's trying too hard to find a compromise with the Republicans and should be making more of an effort to stand his ground. However, the Republicans are at least equally to blame for any "polarization" because many of them refuse to settle for anything less than Obama's total and unconditional capitulation to their proposals.
After eight long years of yuck-a-billies and their buds running things, it's gonna take a lot to make me an Obama unbeliever.
polarizing: black.
Pick a side, boy.
...will be the ghost of Lori Klausutis...who's always watching Scarborough.
She'd just be getting a ghost image.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QD_2N_nBu-c&fe...
This is the very low rated, Reslug morning show with two wing-nuts spewing habitual lies and hatred.
and with Halperin sitting there--even just passing by the channel makes me want a good scrub.
You just wish Democrats paid attention to what Molly Ivins said years ago when she pointed out what a losing strategy it is to present yourself as "Republican-lite".
Because the media is too polarizing. Maybe you guys ought to think about presenting the facts and holding your guests to the facts, rather than presenting two polarized opinions with no regard to whether they're sticking to the facts or not.
