Ron Reagan: Isn't It Funny How "Left Wing Lunacy" Turns into Reality After a Few Years?
By Heather Saturday Aug 22, 2009 9:00am
Ron Reagan Jr. and Joan Walsh on Hardball reminding Chris Matthews that reality seems to have a liberal bias. As they both point out, once again, the Villagers were wrong, and the "loony left," as the media likes to dismiss any of us as, were right.
I disagree with both of them on one point, though. There is nothing "honorable" about what Tom Ridge is doing. He didn't quit and speak up when he was first asked to do this. And now that he's got a book to sell, suddenly he's feeding the public some half truths about what went on to gin up some interest in it.
Glenn Greenwald and Marcy Wheeler have had a bit of an interesting exchange with The Atlantic's Marc Ambinder over his reaction to Ridge's latest revelation that are well worth the read on the topic of how the Villagers treat the left.
Greenwald: Fringe leftist losers: wrong even when they're right:
Just as is still commonly said about opponents of the Iraq War (even though they were right, they were still wrong and unSerious because their motives were bad), Ambinder acknowledges that Bush critics were right that the terror alerts were being manipulated for political ends (he has no choice but to acknowledge that now that Ridge admits it), but still says journalists like himself were right to scorn such critics "because these folks based their assumption on gut hatred for President Bush, and not on any evaluation of the raw intelligence." As always: even when the dirty leftist hippies are proven right, they're still Shrill, unSerious Losers who every decent person and "journalist" scorns.
Wheeler: Ambinder: Sorry I Was So Stupid, But I Was Right To Be Stupid:
Mark Ambinder takes the opportunity of Ridge's confirmation that the terror alerts were one big political game to claim he was justified in believing that we DFHers were wrong about the alerts--and in doing so, demonstrates what is so wrong with so much of Village journalism.
Be sure to check out the rest of both posts if you haven't already. Reagan and Walsh should read them as well if they haven't. By showing such deference to Ridge they're simply feeding into the narrative they're attempting to beat back here.

He is a fucking republican and therefore devoid of honor,no honesty,no integrity, no ethics. He is just another lying republican slime ball.
republicanism is a mental illness!
... of the extended Bush Crime Family, which has spread its tentacles far and wide through the decades.
Being honorable would've required him to tell the FBI and congressional judiciary committees about this before the statute of limitations ran out, preferably at the time the conspiracy was being committed.
And Ron Reagan is featured on TV because he is the son of the Great Prevaricator?
is a progressive on Air America radio and also an atheist. He diddn't agree with his fathers ideology.
Learn something new every day. Just listened to a couple of his radio programs, pretty smart.
how Reagan's kids with Jane Wyman were absolute loons, and his kids with Nancy actually turned out to be smart kids who could actually think for themselves, and didn't mind going on the record as disagreeing with their father.
Patty even reconciled with her dad before he died, and they didn't disown her while she was estranged, either.
Strangely enough, the Reagans demonstrated unconditional love for their kids, even though the kids went on record talking about how much their parents screwed them up, and loved them anyway.
Who gets the credit for that?
no, Ron Reagan Jr. has an excellent show on Air America.
intelligent and accomplished young man. So what exactly is your point?
He is 51. He would eat Delay's lunch on Dancing With the Stars.
Uh huh....
An honorable man would have gone public immediately and expose the fact that federal laws were being broken.
An honorable man might have allied himself with other administration outcasts and made lots of noise and enlisted investigative journalists to put a stop to the villainy and
save his country.
Honorable?
Any top level Repug spilling the beans at that critical of a moment...
george w bush is osama bin laden
Just business associates and family friends.
Bandar Bush, they call him.
When Ron Reagan said that line..I also spit out my yogurt! Damn skippy it's true!
I remember in those days, Matthews wouldn't give a Dem a break. Seems to me that he was on the bandwagon on "dissing" Dems on the Color Code Alert for Political Gain and if a Dem said it, Matthews automatically dismissed it as Dem politics as usual.
However, at this time, Olbermann was getting traction on his show. His "Special Comments" were spelling out that the Color Code Alerts were nothing more than Fear Mongering for Political Gain, and weekly "Special Comments" highlighted the crimes of the Bush Administration. I thought MSNBC was going to drop Olbermann for fear of a Bush Attack. Olbermann stuck to his guns and MSNBC as well.
You could see the frustration in Tweety's face when he had to introduce Keith Olbermann's Countdown. Tweety is one TVs surviver, but the Matthew's ego is purely Conventional Wisdom Villager, and a shallow one at that.
...Tweet will blow whichever way he thinks the ratings are best. He's a typical corporate-owned talking head. It isn't a matter of truth or justice or journalism, it is all about where the ratings are to be found. That is what motivates Tweet.
Color codes and instructions for paranoid teabaggers and xtian milita types.

I just returned from Rep. Ted Poe's "Town Hall in a funeral home". Somebody let me know they want the video.
Poe railed against "government *run* healthcare" for forty minutes despite the fact no one is proposing a government "takeover" of healthcare. He laughed about "cash for clunkers" as an example of government incompetence.
I only spoke up twice: once when he said he "saw nothing in any of the bills that would prohibit paying for abortions" (I shouted "Bull$#!+" and cited "The Hyde Amendment".)
I asked him, "as a critic of government run healthcare", if he wanted to "abolish the VA and put every vet in the Private System." He said, "No", but did think that *vets should have he option* of going to any hospital they wanted (yet denies me the same same public/private choice.)
I hope to clip a couple of highlights, but I think someone with more insight than me should review the video. Thanks.
Thanks bud. Nice of you to take the time and state your positions.
With regard the vets and the VA, We can go to any hospital we want, in an emergency. They want us to do that. If the beds are full at a VA hospital, they will allow us to stay in the hospital we are in at the time. If not, we get ambulanced to the closest VA hospital.
After being stabilized. If you're not well enough to be moved, you stay in the hospital you're in.
.
If you make some vids, please send them to my attention via the sitemonitor email. :)
I would have gotten it right if I didn't automatically take the opposite position of those who usually get things right.
...is the fact that the corporate-owned media never admits that the left's so-called lunacy tends to become reality and the right's lunacy is just, ya know, paranoia fanned by the Republican Party as a means of keeping their followers in line. Instead, the media pushes a false equivalency. As if the truth and reality are not factors to be considered in a debate.
Seriously, for how many decades has the NRA been stealing money from its followers by pushing forth the false claim that librool elitists are out to take their guns? Yet, no one can point to a single instance in which a single American unduly lost a single gun. This says nothing of the lunatic right's claims that Obama is foreign-born (we'll exclude the 10% who think Hawaii is a foreign country) or that he is a terrorist, or a socialist, or a Nazi (cuz, ya know, nothing says Nazi like a black man, right?). And, yet, not a single corporate-owned network has the cojones to call the loons loons and admit that the so-called lunatic left was right about Bush AND Cheney all along.
For me, that is sad---a really sad testament of what our nation has become.
They both started up in the same year, one dealt with direct action and terrorism, the other was about keeping guns in the hands of whites only. It was illegal for blacks in southern states to posses guns post civil war, the NRA made damn sure the whites were the only legal gun owners.
but even taking that in to consideration he has to be awfully stupid to make the statement that the only reason people suspected the criminal activity involved with the DHS terror alert codes was hating Bush. That the alert system was being used for political purposes was rather obvious. You'd have had to be as dumb as a Ambinder to have NOT suspected it!
WOW!The crazy left the discredited left is PROVEN RIGHT. Yet with all the evidence this administration REFUSES to PROSECUTE, my heart and feeling go out to the Families that lost loved ones. However, I am glad you see this is the problem of POLITICAL COVERUPS and the LOSS of Credibility. Don't for get the RACIST NAZI CHRISTIAN (RNC)wait total anonymity.
Hope it bites all you Racist Nazi Christians (RNC), The Repukulan Party the Party of HATE, LIES,NO , and ANTI AMERICAN activity, may all you DIE slow painful deaths.
Let’s face it, without Bold Healthcare Reform with a public option this year the Democratic Party will run on total garbage in 2010 and 2012 — Wall Street bailout and welfare, cash for health care, cash for clunker and uplifting speeches for disappointed progressive mind care. Read on...

but NO. It's not not funny. Not funny 'haha' and not funny 'strange' It's tragic. And was totally preventable, had the Fairness Doctrine had not been gutted, if the laws that promoted competition in a fair market hadn't been cast aside, if Rupert Murdoch had to WORK to become a citizen in order to own FOX, not just buy citizenship, if cable providers had to behave by the same rules as broadcast news...
No. Not funny. Actually, it makes me sad. I did not want to see what we have today to be proven correct. I'dve much preferred to have been wrong.
gets a big ol' 'meow' over here!
The sight of him and his moobs in a bathing suit at that Hawaiian getaway for all those 'hard-working stressed-out' Homeland Security personnel made me ill. He partied on the gubment, fear lobby dime and now he has the cojones to whine about his treatment by the Big Dogs. Honorable, my poop chute.
If Matthews would spend more time listening than interrupting and pontificating he might occasionally have something to say. As it is, he spends most of his time bloviating about things he demonstrably knows nothing about. On other occasions he spends his tome humping the legs of Washington insiders who all bring the stench of corruption to the studio.
It was a miracle that he graciously allowed his guests here to put their point of view. They were obviously being kind to Ridge who, indeed did not have the courage of any convictions at the time. They did, however use his message to make their points.
It is interesting how many people are creeping out of the woodwork to provide info on the secretive Bush-Cheney cabal. It leads one to hope that the DOJ and some congressional committees are close to homing in on individuals and processes that amounted to treason and war crimes.
Great position Ambinder takes: If I'm right and you're wrong, it's because I'm a Serious journalist, and you're a biased fanatic. On the other hand, if I'm wrong and you're right, it's because I'm a Serious journalist, and you're a biased fanatic. Say what?
Nice! That is definitely the kind of logic and honest self-assessment one expects of a Serious journalist.
She reminded me of when Howard Dean correctly and fearlessly accused the Bush administration of raising terror alerts for purely political purposes. And who came in, riding on his mulit-million dollar charger, to put Dean down and defend Bush? John Kerry. That's who.
No wonder he lost.
I remember how disheartening and sickening it was to watch and listen to this twerp.
And he was all we had to counter Bush.
Why, Matthews forgot that? Where did you get this from? Can you please point where he acts like he forgets it?
or is it just me who spied the dark silhouettes of hands or snake heads reaching toward Joan Walsh's head in the clip? I'm sure a lot of wingnuts would love to do something to Joan's head.
shrill, unserious losers? so that's what the damn villagers think of the so called left? scorn the self righteous, scorn the hypocritical fake undecent christians, spare your stupid scorn for those types not progressives.
Get this: progressives are almost always right. The so called "right" is almost always wrong.
