Steve King is out of his "freedom-loving" mind. In what world do all Americans have health care coverage? Oh yeah, the emergency rooms. That's the GOP's idea of health care coverage and "freedom".

he said all "americans". Poor people aren't Americans, they aren't even people. Hell, they don't even need to eat and they like living in ghettos and sleeping under bridges.

At least he didn't say, "My taxpaying constituents", which was always a fave in my state legislature.

.

So when do the American people get a bailout?

Cattle don't require bailouts. Sheep don't need jobs. Chattel has no rights.

Yip

Given that large-scale, mechanized production could not be eliminated once invented, the Party arranges the destruction of surplus goods — before that makes "the masses too comfortable, and hence, in the long run, too intelligent", hence perpetual war:

..I'm done with Amazon, based on that.

back when BuyBlue.org was active...then SURPRISE...BuyBlue disappeared and never returned. Basically, pretty much all large companies were heavily donating red. The only one I can remember heavily donating blue was CostCo. But for some reason someone thought this info on companies was not for the public to have easy access to.

And soup kitchens are restaurants and homeless shelters are resorts and a good job is at a fast food job and coal is clean and nuclear energy is safe and water boarding is humane and illegal wire tapping is constitutional and Dick Cheney is a good man and war is peace and ignorance is strength and god loves you!

LOL!

To bad they cannot keep track of everyone who votes for these GOP psycho's, and see that they get professional help.

She touted all the wonders of the Astrodome for the poor New Orleans residents who had to stay there, amid no working toilets, no air conditioning and no police patrols. Well done.
King is an |d|ot if he thinks ERs can be considered health care. What about the poor schmucks who never even see ERs because they are too sick to get there -- and end up dying? Health care includes prevention, which means getting yourself to a doctor for regular physicals and tests when needed. Without healthcare, people do not have access to PREVENTIVE MEDICINE!

Other than that I don't know how getting health care for all robs us our freedom. Apparently in the GOP world, you are free to die, and that's their god giving right! Take that right away and you may live longer to pursue happiness.

has never been a good idea.
;)

Too bad these republicans can't use cool and rationale speech and reasoning to describe what a turd of a bill we have ended up with. Certainly it is no thanks to them, but are we behind this bill to save face or because it is giving us a product at a good price and under good circumstances?

This guy is a real a-hole. Nothing good ever comes out of this shmuck's mouth. The 'thugs "freedom" bullshit is getting real old.

I saw Rep. Steve on video stating the health care bill as encouraging suicide. To make this point, he quoted page 644 of the Bill. Well, while page 644 states "encourage the promotion of suicide or assisted suicide" it is preceded by "Nothing in this section shall" on the bottom of page 643. That little omission makes a big difference now, doesn't it Mr. King.

My question is did Mr. King intentionally lie or hasn't he even accurately read this important Bill?

and indicative of why he voted against hcr were the words, "the best health care industry..."

To be fair, under the Bush admin, if there had been a health care bill and it had been named "Health Care For All American's Act" it most assuredly would have been designed to strip Americans of their health care coverage.

Sometimes all it needs is a little kiss.

XXOO

Ooh! Here's a video of their advertisement in Japan.

if the poor, unemployed, disenfranchised, and the over extended middle classes had put their minds to the task at hand?

That being people who don't make $235,000 a year with full medical, dental, guaranteed retirement benefits and other perks. On top of the family fortune already accumulated and parked in safe havens.

I keep hearing this ridiculous statement about healthcare reform "stealing our freedom" with absolutely no explanation of what that really means, or specific examples of what that would look like. So, how exactly does UHC steal our freedom. I don't think the people spouting off these meaningless little phrases know. If anything, seems to me it would be just the opposite. Can you imagine how liberating is would be if every man, woman, and child in this country knew they had access to affordable healthcare if he/she needed it.

:pv

Trying to imagine it but I still think even minor problems will wipe you out with this bill. There won't be a huge difference in price or else everyone will migrate from private to public option.

We all know preservation of the insurance companies is paramount to any reform.

...who doesn't want to be told that I have three choices...

Get healthcare from Kaiser Permanente'

get healthcare from govt...

or pay a big fine with possibly jail time.

I'm weird I guess...but I'm not a republican.

I don't care if congress has labeled it "the public option"...How can it be an option when one of the options is a monetary fine/jail time?

:pY

so there is no opt out for those who wish to stick with cash or self insure through a bond?

(You can do that with auto insurance in CA as an opt out, self insure)

Today, Ranking Member of the House Ways and Means Committee Dave Camp (R-MI) released a letter from the non-partisan Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) confirming that the failure to comply with the individual mandate to buy health insurance contained in the Pelosi health care bill (H.R. 3962, as amended) could land people in jail.

1. If Obama, let alone the Democrats, pull this off, Americans will be able to better recognize the fact that the Republicans have done nothing for nearly two decades. (Notice they've stopped using the line that it's 'too soon' or we're going 'too fast' on this issue.)

2. It's more 9/11 fearmongering. The Muslims are coming. They're gonna take away your jobs, your faith, your freedom. Just substitute Obama/fascists/socialists/liberals for the Muslims.

3. Shorter Steve King: "I Have No Facts, And I Must Lie"

"going too fast" meme again today, FWIW.

Again, read the text of the bill Rep. King:

SEC. 246. NO FEDERAL PAYMENT FOR UNDOCUMENTED ALIENS.

Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States.

Or did I miss something?

Aside from the fact that after having read their "reform" bill and having found absolutely NOTHING in it that I could call reform there is also nothing in it that actually change anything at all as far as I could see.

How does a meaningless bit of feel good legislation containing nothing to change what is already in place going to steal this clowns freedom?

Sorry I have to agree SYMES , it has some good stuff in it but does next to nothing to clamp down on the Insurance Industry or create competition , real "REFORM" it absolutely is not , now they are trying to put lipstick on the pig and sell it to us . Whether it passes or doesn't , they have failed in giving us real health care reform "if this is it" . The Insurance companies and the corrupt majority in DC won out . The bribe money paid off , what a surprise huh ? That's my opinion , absolutely .

)O(

Emergency care is what drives up local taxes

And local governments turn to the federal government for block grants to avoid the onus of raising taxes.

And the Federal Government has to raise taxes to pay for the block grants and/or cut services, or add it to the deficit, which takes money out of circulation every time they make an interest payment, causing inflationary spirals and tighter loan policies from banks, who now can ask the government to be bailed out by taxpayer expense.

What King and the rest mean by "stealing our freedom" is the stealing of the Insurance companies ( and the Repug's ) "freedom" to gouge and financially rape the public and to do what ever they damn well please .The Repugnant party is a subsidiary of the Insurance companies . This is the " freedom " they are so concerned about , the simpletons supporting these Repugs are just too dumb to figure it out .

Thanks!

You took the post right off of my keyboard. Nice job!

It only makes them run their price increases through a Congressionally mandated panel to determine if it's OK to raise them that high.

You can bet your ass that panel will consist entirely of insurance industry lackeys ready to rubber stamp any increase they ask for.

Exactly . Merry Christmas Insurance companies and their Wall Street share holders ! "Negotiate prices" like Bush did with Pharma ? They can put a diamond studded ring in it's nose , put lip stick on it and dress it up in Victoria's secret under wear but this bill is still a pig , a farce .

as the email I just got from Obama claiming that this give away to the insurance companies and pharma constitutes a great victory in healthcare reform. Both sides are blowing smoke up our asses at this point.

Absolutely .

Rahmabama sucks. This guy is hell bent on putting the repukes back in power.

How this clueless incompetent took last years election results as a sign the people wanted "DLC republican-lite Clinton flunky bullshit from the 1990's" is astonishing to me.

If we don't primary this loser in 2012, we will have to wait till 2016 to try an put a real democrat in office. One who isn't owned by the corporate fascist bankster's on Wall Street.

By far, most of the people I know voted for Obama. As of today, I can say that nobody likes what this guy has done thus far.

Kissing Wall Street's ass, while 20% unemployment ravages the country - (thanks to the same bankster who screwed the other 99% of us), is a very ugly cocktail indeed!

Dieing in the ER waiting room is health care? That seems wrong somehow.

what about the "freedom" people are expressing about not wanting to absorb the ever increasing cost that's SHIFTed to the paying pool and TAX payers. going to the ED for non-emergency health care is both inefficient and EXPENSIVE. with the rise in the uninsured/UNDER insured demographic more individuals will put off needed care and go to the ED for non-emergency type care. guess who pays
the PAYing pool/TAX payers.....essentially a HIDDEN TAX.

Rep. Don Young (AK-AL) issued a very similar statement yesterday -- "rescinding our freedom."

Government by Madison Avenue focus group....

Steal our freedoms? WTF is King talking about? Bush already stole our freedoms. There isn't much left after 8 years of absolute rule by the Bush cabal.

Then little Stevie must have been YELLING and SCREAMING when they passed the Patriot Act! I would think he'd be first in line to say THAT was stealing our freedom.

SHOW ME THE KOOKINESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
.............oh , you just did with the video-(never mind)

Corporate Hooker. Liberty indeed!

Really? Try getting chemo at your local ER.

I guess you gotta spin it some way when your party has no ideas of their own.
