Multi-Millionaire Limbaugh Thinks Our Health Care System is Just Wonderful

I'm so glad Limbaugh thinks our health care system is just wonderful since he's never going to have to worry about whether he'll go bankrupt paying for his medical bills.
LIMBAUGH: Again, the treatment I received here was the best that the world has to offer. And I -- I -- based on what happened to me, I don't think there's one thing wrong with the American health care system. It's working just fine, just dandy.
And I got nothing special. I got no treatment other than what anybody else that would have called 911 and been brought in with the same kinds of symptoms. The care was extensive, it was personal, and it was complete, and it was very confidence-inspiring. And I never once I -- once I got here had any fears, because of the manner in which I was treated.
Limbaugh obviously doesn't know the difference between our health care system and our health insurance system, or he just doesn't care and is lying through his teeth like he always does. If everyone could get a job that pays millions of dollars for spreading hatred on the radio just like Rush, all of our problems with the health care system would be solved. Just like magic. We'd all be able to afford to be self-insured.
Laffy over at The Political Carnival found this one. Looks like KITV in Honolulu decided to scrub any mention of Limbaugh saying he was taking medication for back pain.
As she also noted at the end of the press conference Ed Henry asked Limbaugh if he was taking pain killers and he denied it but said he was on Prednisone instead. More on that over at Laffy and Paddy's place.

I got no special treatment my ass. Rush doesn't carry a health care plan. He can pay for any treatment he has out of his checking account. He was well cared for.

On his Talk comedy show one day I caught the end of a conversation he was having with one of his cronies..
They were talking about Rush going through the waiting room and straight back to see the doctor with our any wait time..
His answer was something like this..... Well someone of my importance desired to have special privileges at times.

The thing that the Rush seems to fail to understand is that his hospital trip would have financially wiped out most Americans who don't make millions a year income.
What would be fun would be to charge Rush a full year's salary for that stay at the hospital just so he could get a small taste of what emergency health care costs do to many less wealthy people.
Your health care cost/treatment should be based on your income. A flat percentage across the board. Example, if someone makes 30,000 a year they pay 10% or 3000.00 at a max. So Rush would have to pay $5,000,000. That way he'll understand.
Wouldn't it be nice if all of us could afford the "best health care in the world" every time we had heartburn or a back-up of gas?
Like Bush , Cheney , Obama and their families do not have to worry about getting the best of care or paying for it..
You do not see any of the elite going bankrupt or dying because of the expense...

I noticed that too, that he looked thinner as he approached the microphone. I had to take Decatron (steroid) for a few days around each chemo session, and it definitely puffs up your face. Hmmm... so, what's he on?

It's hard for me to tell whether Limpo as gained or lost weight lately, since I don't see him on TV. But it's good to hear that he's back on drugs.
I'm on prednisone eye drops for two weeks now and I've gained 7 lbs. I can't blame it on holiday food either - we went light this year!
I do know a little about crystal meth. And Rush sure looks like he's been hitting the pipe to me. His clothes look baggy, he's got the weird facial ticks. And it doesn't do the heart any good either.

That stuff is a lifesaver but a killer drug...he's not taking it for run-of-the-mill back pain, the side effects can be serious. 25 years ago my wife took it for an extended period and it cost her bone problems requiring a screw in the end of her femur, and a couple cartilage operations. The original condition was ulcerative colitis, and now she's got bum knees.
I also call bullsh!t on this one...as you folks say prednisone puffs up the face especially, and he looks a fair amount thinner than he was a few months ago.

Yup. 911, ambulance, the whole bit. ICU. 10 days in the hospital. Great care. Great food, for god's sake! No problems with ancillary "hospital staph infections." As good as the care I'd had in Europe where I'd lived for about twenty years.
The trouble came later when my insurance policy -- paid for on time each month for fifteen years and never used -- didn't pay up. Didn't recognize me as a policy holder. Held out for three months while I faced huge bills. Finally the state insurance commission sat on them (UC) and made them pay up.
Discovered (from the commission) that UC and other companies were doing this regularly -- delaying payments in order to push costs into another quarter. Meanwhile, I thought I'd wind up losing my home. Don't think Rush will face that kind of scare, do you?
Aren't people supposed to be able to REDUCE the stress level after they leave the hospital...?
Haven't had quite the issues you have had, but man, I know EXACTLY where you're coming from...several years ago, hubby had an ultrasound to check for blood flow after a double-by-pass...insurance covered all but about (get this!) almost seven hundred dollars for it...so, of course I had the hospital up my keester because I couldn't afford $100.00 a month, payment to them...(their idea of a 'payment arrangement)... The damn hospital put me into collection...and THEY got pissy with me because I wouldn't send them anymore than I was sending the hospital. I explained to them: "If I were able to send the amount you insist on, I would have been paying the hospital the same amount and I wouldn't be having to deal with YOU"
So now, the damn hospital gets MY payment arrangement!!!! What are they gonna do...put me in collection????!!!!
Rush really needs to keep his stories straight. It was reported that when the paramedics asked him if he was on any medication he told them he was using pain medication. Now he is is saying that he is taking Prednisone.
I was listening to him a few weeks ago, and he apoligized to his audience because he was slurring his words. He said that he had a problem with his back, but he was not taking meds. However he was in so much pain, it was driving him crazy.
So which is it? Is it pain meds, Prednisone or both? And if it is both, so what? I am sure that anyone who has suffered from chronic pain would not fault him for taking something for it - even with his history.

This press conference should be a commercial for the AMA (which Limbaugh has lambasted for supporting the public option) and the Unionized paramedics who likely saved his life (who Limbaugh has lambasted for being "money grubbing unions") and the SEIU represented hospital employees who treated his sarcastic ass with kid gloves, as well as the nurses union, who treated his union-hating ass so well that he has proclaimed it "the best health care system in the world".

But get real. He was sitting in a hotel room, five thousand miles from home, and his personal physician. He begins to experience severe chest pain, that does not abate. The man is in his late fifties. I am sure he was scared to death.
The paramedics are called. He is no position to fudge about any drugs he may be taking.He "blurts out" that he is taking pain meds.
The paramedics have no reason to lie, Limbaugh, given his history, does. Once again the rumors, and slurs would be leveled against him. It's all about his image.

A few corporate industries and banksters own nearly our entire world. We are dependent on them for nearly every thing you see around you. It came from a large corporation(or is a subsidiary of one) Plus most jobs, insurance etc. Too big to fail should have been the final clue they needed.
Congress people and aides get jobs lobbying their buddies and corporate people get jobs at the head of government. It's a revolving door that serves the wealthy corporate interests,not the people.
Who gets most government money? Corporations.
Yes they would like to turn the majority of us into low wage slaves. Yes they are working on it now. But its not socialists or liberals or conservatives...they are free range, winner take all, predatory capitalists. Just the people Limbaugh and beck et al defend on a daily basis.

They construe fascism,socialism,totalitarianism, all as the same thing because it is something they see as oppressive. It's all the same to them(hence the lack of intellectual respect) They can call it what they want for all I care as long as they properly identify the culprits..Which they avoid doing like the plague.

Limbaugh's experience underscores a PLETHORA of reasons healthcare insurance needs reform.
He experienced severe pain like he's "never experienced before"...but the doctors didn't find anything wrong. How many thousands of dollars would that little fishing expedition have cost someone who doesn't have insurance? How much would it have cost US if the person didn't have insurance and no means to pay for it? How much would it have cost in out-of-pocket expenses even IF someone had been insured? How likely would it have been that an insurance company would throw that claim right back into the face of the "insured" on the premise that, sorry bub, we don't pay for make-believe heart attack response in emergency rooms?
Worst of all is this: Now that the doctors didn't find anything wrong with him, how hollow does his admonishment ring for the rest of us to "go to the hospital the moment you feel pain like this" when the NEXT time someone who had to pay a deductible or the full cost of that kind of emergency care after doctors "found nothing wrong", that person is even LESS likely to get himself to a hospital and would instead stay home and tough it out...right to a probable early grave.
Btw, Rushie, if the USA doctors "didn't find anything" that caused your very real and unprecedented pain, maybe you ought to take a trip to Canada, France or Cuba to see if they'll be a little more successful in that fishing expedition.
He didn't have prescription health coverage. They were going to prescribe him, I believe it was cumodin injections, to thin his blood until they found this out. At $1000 a shot they decided he could take the cheaper, slower acting oral meds and take his chances that he didn't get worse before he got better.
And Rush saying he got the best health care in the world. How exactly does he know this? I am not saying he is wrong. He is no authority when it comes to science.( He didn't know white paint reflects sunlight, dark paint absorbs it.And he lives in Florida?) What a profoundly stupid person. It isn't difficult to tell that Limbaugh is a guy who constantly spews unsupported opinions. In Rush's mindless world, merely saying something makes it so. I guarantee you if Limbaugh had survived the experiences I've had with the American medical establishment, he wouldn't be so quick to call it the best. And in those cases money was not an issue. The problem was medical ignorance and hubris. What was preventable was not prevented and that resulted in much higher costs than were necessary.

This argument was never whether or not people get good care in hospitals it was about having insurance so they may get the care they need while they are in the hospital.

If you've been on Prednisone long enough, (and he hasn't), your body eventually becomes accustomed enough to it. I'm on it. Been taking it daily for over 20 years. Nasty stuff. Wouldn't wish it on even Limbaugh to have to take for a long time. I was able to lose weight while on it though. So it is possible.
Early on, if you are given very large doses, you can get very bloated in about a month. But it is too soon to see any effects in Limbaugh if he's on it.
But most notably, PREDNISONE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH TREATING PAIN. It's an immuno-suppresant. So answering that he's taking it "instead of pain medication" is like saying you drive to work instead of eat ice cream for breakfast.
One use for Prednisone is to treat severe rheumatoid arthritis. Steroids are super anti inflammatory drugs, and can relive pain by decreasing inflammation. Again, it's used mostly for severe arthritic conditions, which mostly affect the hands, shoulder and knee joints, not back pain. Just FYI.

Right wingers like Limbaugh and Hannity confuse quality with Accessibility. I don't think many people question that America has excellent health care quality in some of the nicer hospital- but not everyone can afford it- Quality of care is usually reflected in the ammount of $$ you have to spend.

The day after he was hospitalized it was reported that Limbaugh told the paramedics that he was taking medication for back pain. Now he's denying it. So if it wasn't his heart then it makes sense that he was maybe overdoing his oxy again. It would explain his recent weight loss too.
