Joe Scarborough: Unhinged Torture Apologist
By Heather Tuesday May 19, 2009 9:00am
I think Joe Scarborough is attempting to make his show almost as unwatchable as Fox News. First he decides to attack Jesse Ventura for his comments on The View:
SCARBOROUGH: Perhaps Jesse should stop smoking whatever Jesse's been smoking and keep his mouth shut about things he knows absolutely nothing about. This is a guy who, by the way -- I must continue to say this -- that got paid two million dollars by this network, did one show and sucked so bad that they sent him back to Minnesota and said "we never want to see you again."
I wish I was that bad. Perhaps I am. Maybe they'll fire me and I'll take my money and go to Florida. [...] Seriously, that's the sort of stupidity -- it's just -- it should seriously be a crime to be that dumb and on TV. [mocking Jesse's voice] We only waterboard Muslims. Oh God.
Let's bring in Rudy Giuliani. Former Republican mayor of New York City, former presidential candidate, Rudy Giuliani. This seems like a great place to start. [begin douchey sarcastic voice] Why is it that people like Jesse Ventura are so concerned about how we treat people like Khalid Sheikh Mohammed? Why is that?
h/t to Bob Cesca for the transcript and apparently he was as disgusted after watching this as I was. I'll let him take it from here.
Jesse Ventura was a Navy Seal who survived the SERE program and served in Vietnam. He "knows nothing" about torture and war, Joe? And you do? That's rich.
As for your question to Giuliani, Jesse is worried about torturing people like KSM because it endangers our soldiers.
Scarborough then goes into an angry tirade when Carlos Watson dares to suggest that waterboarding doesn't work.
SCARBOROUGH: I’ve got to stop you right there. How do you dare come on this set and say that’s [waterboarding] not effective? That’s just not the truth! And if you have any evidence that it is not effective, let me know right now!
We're not the only ones who noticed Scarborough's angry defense of torture this morning.
Think Progress has taken up Scarborough’s challenge, with this comprehensive document explaining why Bush’s enhanced interrogation tactics were a failure.

Actually he's got that ass backwards. To change normal American military procedure and culture, he has to prove that torture DOES work, particularly since we have interrogators since as far as WWII that says it does not.
How did Joe land the job of Morning Joe weekday morning talk show on MSNBC..
Joe is a has been republicans and like Rove ,,, corporations and news media still takes care of these people..
All joe has left is wishful thinking.
Jesse is great!
Joe sure is deluded. So he invites his deluded friends. Time for FOX to re-tool.
It's his ego: it's HUGE. An asshole that loves himself.
Men with huge egos are the ugliest people on earth (way worse than women with big egos).
Ventura, a former Navy SEAL, knows nothing about torture?
That's just priceless.
How did he get so emotionally invested in waterboarding anyway?
maybe he's into watersports.
Is that why mikey looks embarrassed?
... read the small print on that contract with Mr. Bub.
KO.
same network. Ho, ho, ho. That would require him to cut a segment on Miss Cal's plastique.
I'd really like to know the truth about that dead intern ... but being as waterboarding isn't torture in your personal lexicon, surely, you won't mind if we work you over a bit to make sure you're telling us the truth?
waterboarding IS effective. you cannot deny that. it has been proven time and time again.
it is effective in:
--getting the torture-victim to tell you want he/she thinks you want to hear
--getting false confessions
which, as scarborough approves, helped in the bush attempts to force people to falsely confess that saddam was in cahoots with OBL.
joe is right waterboarding is effective, he just doesn't day in what regard it is effective. pol pot thought it was effective, torquemada thought it was effective, etc.
... in destroying our reputation abroad.
... at putting our troops at unnecessary risk.
waterboarding is also very effective in causing recruitment of more extremists/terrorists factions blowback.. that's what the empire wants so they can cause a dependency upon the u.s. financial elites.
So that's why broads don't like me,
That and calling them broads.
Speaking of putting our troops at unnecessary risk....
http://walled-in-pond.blogspot.com/2009/05/yo...
most likely, but who knows, maybe Adam Pearlman or (Azzam the American) Alqueda's American leader who is from Orange county Calif. or maybe that new American leader of Alqueda in Northern Africa (I can't remember his name) Have set up shop in Afganistan
But I imagine it's just more CIAeda/Mossad propaganda
... in destroying our reputation abroad.
... at putting our troops at unnecessary risk.
And once they get away with this most heinous crime, it's open season on lawlessness in America itself. There are no standards left. Anything is fair game.
Once it's clear there are no repurcussions, of any kind, for crimes done by those at the top...
you gotta try harder than that. You're NEVER gonna get that gig on FOX. You gotta do a waaay better job of ramping up the crazy.
Please call and ask that they remove Mr. Scarborough from morning TV. Let him go back to Florida.
he's in the widows and shut-ins time slot.
Why do you think Mika doesn't say much. She's layin' low and trying to keep her career from being destroyed by association with that asshat Scarborough.
... ask them if Mr. Scarborough represents the views of NBC.
in my e-mail to them.
We don't want him back!
Let him move to texas!
Honorary Admiral in the Texas Navy and a box of oranges from the Rio Grande Valley or, if he prefers..a BOX..of rocks.
everyone KNOWS that rocks are in sacks.
Boxes are for HAMMERS! HA!
Let's just get him fired, not sent back to Florida. We have enough full time nuts down here.
We don't want him back . . . can't he find someplace else to go??
I suggested Saudi Arabia or Columbia might be a better fit for someone of his mentality.
Message sent!
Joe Scarborough offends my American senses as he stumps for the use of illegal activities. It is well defined withing US Law, Common Law and International Law that TORTURE is unacceptable. There are members of the US Military, Government Officials and private secor citizens that are on record of proving him incorrect, yet MSNBC continues to air a man who stumps for unamerican principles and tenets. How MSNBC can allow this propaganda to air is beyond me and until MSNBC changes their spokesperson for anti-American values and principles, I will not be watching their programming.
Thank you.
.
If Lori Klausutis were still here, she'd be a witness for you Scarborough.
...can stretch this out for as long as possible; years hopefully. Scarborough, Hannity, O'Reilly - whatever it takes to perpetuate this against the Right will only make us look better.
phhpt, your troll-ways might fool some...
Please do not place me in the same category as you fool. You're just a confused troll lost in a Progressive world. Scarborough's ignorant bullshit is indefensible...except to masochistic freaks like you.
I hear they're about to put out a national touring company production of the Broadway play The Producers.
The key scene is where they'll perform Springtime for boosh.
It took what 5 minutes for us to figure out you were a troll. And it seems it may take you a lifetime to figure that out.
LOL. Dumbass...
all the world put this to rest many years ago that torture was an extremely serious war crime punishable by death or life in prison. The only people "stretching it out" are the wingnuts who refuse to except that. Of course they happen to be the very same wingnuts who are still refusing to except that the US didn't join Hitler in his bid to conquer the world.
scar is telling us that ventura knows 'absolutely nothing'. well i guess for joe to make that judgement he
knows something. what is that something? media talking points to justify illegal behavior to justify a war that was of choice NOT of necessity. fine joe you can voice your talking points but i'll bet you would NOT talk to ventura like this in person.
Ventura is a no hold barred type of guy. He'd have that wuss Scarborough crying in 1 minute.
...that a (former) pro wrestler would be the voice of reason? GO JESSE!!!
If you have any evidence that waterboarding is in fact effective, let me know right now!1!1!
kthxbai
Does Joe think we should torture Rove for the truth of the US prosecutor firings? How about water boarding good old Dick Cheney to find out the truth of what he found out by torturing others?
Joe, what part of illegal don't you understand. For that mouth slathering by you and the GOP over "The Law".
I guess we don't need judges or court rooms. When someone sues a large corporation. We merely water board the CEO to find out the truth. Right, Joe?
Lakanookie
... Andorian Shingles from that new Star Trek movie?
I'd really like to see Joe Scarborough weeping blood.
.
Dear Joe Scarborough,
Waterboarding works...
... At obtaining false statements.
.
.
Dear Joe Scarborough,
Waterboarding is ILLEGAL!
.
.
Dear Joe Scarborough,
Conspiracy to coerce a false confession through the use of TORTURE...
... Just like what happened to John McCain by the North Vietnamese.
.
.
Dear Joe Scarborough,
Please parse: Pol Pot, Stalin, Saddam, Bush/Cheney.
.
Today was it for me. I'm done with Joe and wrote to MSNBC about it. I'll watch fox and friends before I listen to his yelling first thing in the morning.
That's what I did this morning. After this bs, I flipped over to fox and friends and got to see Jesse rip the holy hell out of the dark hair fox guy. It was amazing.
Who knows, it could be the producers at MSNBC who want to be more Fox like in this time slot and are telling old Joe to go more and more batshit crazy. And they got the right guy for the job, because he actually belongs on Fox not and any sane media outlet.
This shows how completely empty Scarborough's argument is, since he uses nothing but logical fallacies. In the first quote, it's nothing but ad hominem attacks. This is too typical. Rather than attacking the merits of an argument that torture is wrong, Scarborough just attacks the person instead.
The second quote, where he asks the person to prove that water torture doesn't work, is a logical fallacy known as "shifting the burden of proof." Scarborough has absolutely no evidence that torture worked. He's simply parroted an opinion because it feels good for him. But, unfortunately, especially in debate, when one has taken a position that something is true, they must prove it to be true before attacking someone for pointing out it's false. The burden of proof lies with the person who makes the claim. As has been demonstrated, regardless of Scarborough's logical fallacy here, there's ample evidence to show that torture doesn't work, nor is there any evidence to show that it did work under Bush, unless Scarborough is more privy to evidence than the rest of the nation. But, then it's on him to share it.
Regardless, as has been stated time and time again, the question of whether it works is moot since it is illegal.
Actually ad hominems rarely take the form of direct insults in formal debates. That's taken as a given. Ad hominems is disclaiming a whole line of argument with simplistic accusations of undisclosed attempts to profit, influence etc. In it's even simpler forms it's why do you hate America? We have to support the troops, national interest, support for families, god etc. (implying that the opposition does not).
And shifting the burden of proof is correct, but what's he's trying to do is force someone to prove a negative, which is a logical flaw in itself. He also seems to be using the false dilemma argument for the need for torture.
ya know...sometimes you make my head hurt. ; o )
Why? I break up my paragraphs
When I'm not breaking myself up.
book larnins!
I've been using this argument quite abit, and there are overlaps in rhetorical terminology, but I think I found the best way to sum it up.
Ad hominem attacks the person for the point under discussion. Unattached to the point, or only tenuously so would make it a non-sequitur.
What a dweeb. Too young to draft. Too stupid to defer. What this little girl needs is to be drafted, pushed out of a plane over a country he doesn't know and taught to fire, clean, field strip and reassemble and fire again and kill people he doesn't know(I know he would hurt his girly, manicured fingers). It would be better than sounding so unAmerican by disrespecting the expertise of a Viet Nam era Navy SEAL. Much less the American soldiers in Iraq.
We never needed torture in WW1,WW2,Korea,Viet Nam and we won those wars. What's wrong with people? There are NO CONVICTIONS and over 700 Iraqi prisoners. NO Convictions..Does that say something stupid?
Scarbourough is just pathetic. UnAmerican! I quit the republican party. It's filled with dweebish types that worship criminal activity.
D.Eisenhower
if you are so brave and tough, why don't you bring Ventura on your little TV show and say what you said to his face, you little coward!!!
..hate Jesse Ventura and America so much?
What a fool Scar is! His comments were just incredibly stupid.
Joe the Scar v Jesse Ventura
In the ring. 10 rounds.
Who do YOU think would win?
Hehe.
'Cause as soon as the bell rings...Scarborough's gonna piss himself.
Not 'cut 'em off' Insannity.
Not Joe Scareboro.
Not FOX Noise readers.
I say Jesse 'The Body' Ventura vs. Joe 'The Lying Scar' Scarbrough in a steel cage match.
.
Wasn't he in Congress...
... Once?
.
He never lets a show go by without reminding his audience that he was in congress and I would guess he does it about a dozen times each morning.
Pat,
Joe Scarborough is nothing but another CONgresscritter attempting to justify why violating and usurping American Principles is a good thing.
If Americans are capable of catching a clue...
R E M E M B E R:
THEY(sic) HATE US FOR OUR FREEDOMS, OUR WAY OF LIFE...
... And so THEY(sic) have lobbied, debated, and attempted to legislate away Foundational Principles and Values so as to alter our way of life.
And Joe Scarborough keeps on stumping FOR continuing on that path...
.
Lori Klausutis.
(This guy reminds me of Clutch Cargo, the cartoon character who had a human mouth. He's one strange mofo.)
Jesse Ventura Pwns Hannity
Reported by Ellen -
There's nothing more satisfying on Fox News than seeing Sean Hannity get
smacked down by an unapologetic opponent. Last night (5/18/09), Hannity was
put on the defensive right away during his interview with Jesse Ventura and
never gained the upper hand. Hannity was so desperate to counter Ventura's
damning statements about the Bush administration that Hannity first said the
country was better off at the end of the Bush administration than it was at
the beginning, and then contradicted himself by saying that he had spent the
last six years criticizing Republicans for spending too much.
With video.
http://www.foxnews.com/video/index.html?playe...
So, President Bush kept us safe...OTHER THAN THE 3000 KILLED ON 9/11 (and
the 4000 soldiers killed going after the murderers in the wrong country).
Other than the bullet in the brain, President Lincoln thoroughly enjoyed the play.
Poor Sean. They don't teach you how to deal with Jesse at the tanning parlor or the Irish Pub.
Mr. Scarborough,
Mr. Ventura is a veteran of Vietnam, a former Navy SEAL, a former pro-wrestler, a former actor, a former Governor of Minnesota and an author. What have you done with your life other than be in the U.S. House of Representatives?
To personally attack Mr. Ventura is disgusting and then to bring on that cross dressing divorcee Mr. Guiliani (what makes him an "expert" on torture?) took balls.
You are a disgrace and I hope that MSNBC yanks your show faster than you can say "dead intern".
... is based on that dumbarsed statement of how, when he was the district attorney, they used techniques like 'enhanced interrogation' to get information out of hardened mob types and other criminals, and, dadgummit, it worked!
That's why you can walk New York streets in perfect safety today! Rudy kept us safe!
... absolutely obliterate that little blond dumbstick, Liz Hasselbeck, on "The View"?
Just mopped the floor with her.
Talk about an empty vessel. Hasselbitch just might be the stupidest bimbo harpy of them all ...
... Sherri Shepard is pretty mind-bogglingly dumb. And then there's Carrie "I'm Being Persecuted" Prejean.
i might be in the minority, but mika enables this BS, and she is as much to blame. in fact, her haughtiness, her condescension, her very being is almost as irritating as her cro magnon partner in media-crime.
without mika's "centrism" (see, moral vacuousness) joe probably wouldn't have such the megaphone.
her and her dad are deceptive players in the system that has screwed so many, and they have profited handsomely
We really need a "Joe Must Go" campaign.
There's no point anymore. Scarborough never recovered from the smackdown he received from management during the convention coverage, when he made the mistake of talking over Olbermann and Keith laid into him. The next night...Scarborough was off the desk, out of the studio and out on the convention floor.
His show is no more than background noise for hotel bound business travelers getting an early start on the day, widows and shut-ins (and even those people ain't watchin' 'cause they're classic FOX Noise viewers).
So...what is his demographic? What a waste of a time slot. At least give someone who has proven he can handle a show (like David Schuster) a shot.
Scarborough is not only a blow hard...he's a BORING blowhard.
He whines that Ventura doesn't know anything about torture ... yet the guy was tortured in training as a Navy SEAL ... but he knows nothing about torture. Seriously Joe?? And, he further whines, and gets his tighty-whitey's in a colossal twist, that someone 'dare' tell him that waterboarding doesn't work. Well, in my mind, his defense of waterboarding begs the question, has Whinin' Joe ever been waterboarded? Because that's the only thing that would convince me that he's an authority on the subject.
I have a suggestion - Perhaps Whinin' Joe should be waterboarded so we can FINALLY learn the truth about the dead intern found in his congressional office ...
Notice that the only people who claim that torture works are the one's sitting behind desks in cushy offices? Are republicant's that dense in thinking that they know differently than those who do the actual interrogating, the very people who say torture DOESN'T work?
i'm really tired of hearing that being against torture means feeling sympathy for terrorists.
torture someone enough he'll tell you whatever you want to hear and while you're chasing those lies your timebomb continues to tick. let professionals interrogators do what they know how to do and get the RIGHT information!
I have yet for any of these tools to tell me how following the rule of law equates to sympathy. However, blowing nothing but hot air is all I expect from the rabid, yet ridiculous, right.
For a group that shouts from the roof tops that they listen to those 'on the ground', the repuglicant's are doing a fine job at contridicting themselves. Again.
I mean, I thought I was standing up for American values, not blind nationalist thuggery.
It's standard for these groups to impugn your patriotism and/or your faith to bolster their own views.
these are the same people who spun and became opportunistic regarding phrases like "yellow cake",
"mushroom cloud","wmd","extemists"........these people don't want to be wrong or at least they don't wan to be called on it. they will try to belittle ventura since he doesn't have the perceived nuancing, hedging and talking in circles.
Now the catch-phrase is "ticking time bomb." Yeah, I've got a ticking timebomb for them ... my size eight right in someone's ass.
A repuglicant actually admit to be called on? That's, like, accepting responsibility, or something ... the very thing that would cause a repuglicant's head to implode.
... how anyone thinks torture would resolve a scenario that is more common to action thrillers and television dramas than real life.
Have none of these 'experts' heard of compartmentalization? Why do they presume Suspect A knows anything about what Suspect B, Suspect C, and Suspect D are supposed to do?
For that matter, if you have sufficient information to arrest and detain Suspect A, why don't you already know about the rest? How did we get to the 'ticking time bomb' scenario in the first place?
And do you really believe the suspect is going to cave in and give you everything? All he has to do is buy time. The scenario is already based on there being a bomb, with the timer running out. How fast can you check out a lead? If you're dumb enough to fall for it, that builds the suspect's confidence that you don't know what you're doing, and that he can stall you out.
The repuglicant's, while railing on the Dems for being in bed with liberal Hollywood, elect actors (Ahnold, St. Ronny, Sonny Bono, Gopher from the Love Boat, to name a few) for high office, believe Stephen Colbert really is conservative, and think Jack Bauer really is CIA.
I amazes me that many on the ridiculous right, claim to be dog-fearing Christians, and have a deep respect for life. I guess that only counts if the life you're living is a white one.
"How did we get to the 'ticking time bomb' scenario in the first place?"
That's something I've been trying to figure out too. How'd they find out there WAS a 'ticking time bomb'? My guess is it couldn't have been through torture because then they'd be looking for a hundred ticking time bombs.
I feel sorry for Mika, Joe's a Loud Mouth, Egotistical, Wind-Bag. Also comment posted at [Deleted. Blogwhoring-Sitemontor]
I don't feel sorry for her. She could push back. She could point out how ignorant Joe sounds. She isn't a little girl, even though she sure acts like one at times.
she could but sometimes silence is golden. he can dig his own hole on this one.
What's the point of her being on the show? I thought at the beginning that she was on there for balance. But as the months have gone along, all she does is bitch about the outside aerial shots, bitch about any news that she doesn't feel is worthy, bitch about not getting her coffee handed to her on time and call herself the "mommy" of the show. She should be embarrassed for the silliness that she does.
http://media.photobucket.com/image/silence%20...
There a line in the third verse when a woman beat up her man when he was unfaithful and it goes like this:
"YOU KEEP HURTING HER
SHE'LL KEEP BEING QUIET
SHE MIGHT BE HOLDING SOMETHING INSIDE
THAT'LL REALLY, REALLY HURT YOU ONE DAY."
That's gonna happen to Chump Scarbrough if keep pushing his valet Mika too far.
she thinks he is GREAT!
what's so great and cutting edge about writing a letter supporting your co worker who's name actually appear on the show from which you draw a paycheck.
Self serving BS...nothing more.
Because of who her father is.
I know. Disturbing to know her father has the ear of Obama with regards to Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Now she just sits there like a mealy-mouthed Mormon housewife. I can't respect someone who refuses to call their colleague on their bullshit.
Maybe the devious sack of crap that goes by the name of Joe Scarborough
should be waterboarded himself so we can learn the truth about:
1. Did the rumors about his marital infidelity shortly before his divorce have any substance?
2. What was the real reason he resigned from Congress just months after spending a boatload of money to get reelected?
3.Is there anything he knows about Lori Klausutis, the dead employee found in his office with a fractured skull that he hasn't told us yet?
I mean what makes Joe an expert on torture and waterboarding in particular? How can he pontificate the way he does on its usage without any background, sounds like Faux News to me?
Just wrote to MSNBC; if I want BS and lies, I'll just switch to Fox, I don't need it on MSNBC too.
Scarborough sees that Ventura has been getting a lot of publicity and he just wants a piece of the action. He knows that when Ventura hears about Joe's comments Ventura will gladly make an appearance while selling his new book. It's called marketing. Coulter is one of the best at it.
I betcha it's true.
It's called extending an invitation.
Programs routinely get pre-release galleys or review copies of books, along with pertinent information (about the book, bio of the author, other reviews). Scarborough and/or his producer would see these, and be able to call the PR firm handling the book tour.
"Oh, hey, I'll say something offensive and Jesse will want to come on my show," is nonsense.
Maybe Joe should have been water boarded to find the answers to ....
Harris suggested Scarborough would have to answer questions about the strange death of a former staff member in 2001, according to two former high-level Harris staff members, a GOP donor and Scarborough.
http://majikthise.typepad.com/majikthise_/200...
Scarborough hates everything the United States stands for. He shares his hatred of America with his Islamic colleagues.
Scarborough is a fool. When you watch his show and get provoked by his sales pitches for torture or some other illegal Republican activity, you validate him. You give him stature he does not deserve. Don't watch Scarborough, and don't comment on his idiotic attemtps to defend the indefensible.
to attack combat veterans like Jesse Ventura then maybe they ought to take their little scarborough baby and get the fuck out of this country! What worthless America hating douchebags!
I cannot find a clip of Ventura ripping miz Hassleback. Would love to see it. Also Would like to see big Joe toe to toe with somebody thats not intimidated by him (or financially dependent or an outright conservative hack). does anyone have a link for Hassleback/Ventura?
There's a clip of the relevant part of the show at the bottom of this page
try this then -
http://rawstory.com/08/news/2009/05/18/ventur...
Anybody can pick on pretty soulless people saying dishonest stupid things, but not as good as Jesse. He certainly will be relegated to evening MSNBC. It would be nice to see him spit out Chrris Matthews in little pieces.
I just had to go and watch the clip myself! That Hassleback woman has GOT TO BE one of the stupidest women alive!!! Somehow in her little twit mind if she can tie a Democrat into the torture and illegal invasion of Iraq they're suddenly not criminal actions anymore. WTF??? How retarded can these wingnuts be???
Tu quoque.
How so?
Not you, her.
Scarborough mentions Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in the segment. KSM was waterboarded 183 times in March 2003. If the torture technique known as waterboarding were effective, they would have stopped on the first day. Instead, we know they tortured him with this technique six times a day, every day, for a month, to get a false confession that Cheney could use to link Al Qaeda with Iraq. I don't know what else the contractors did to him: sleep deprivation? Stress positions? Extremes of heat and cold?
I do know that if it needed to be used for so long on one person, it is quite clearly not effective.
QED.
Effective or not, it has no bearing on the crime committed.
US War Criminals go on trial: that has to be the headline!
Even IF it WERE effective as all get out(and it must assuredly is NOT) it's STILL ILLEGAL!!! And MUST be prosecuted to the FULL extent of the LAW and the guilty given the maximum sentence allowed by LAW!!!
If I were to shoot a Jehovah Witness on my doorstep
It would be effective in stopping his preaching.
Although I'm not sure how effective that be in court.
And if I rob a bank and the cops don't find that I'm the one that did it until a couple fo years later and I've already spent all the money to pay off my debts then it was effective and they have to let me go.
I agree with you: but that's just not going to happen while Cheney and his surrogates go unchallenged. Because Darth Cheney claims that waterboarding saved tens of thousands of lives, Scarborough and his ilk claim it was effective.
It is a disgraceful state of affairs.
Will his life be worth anything to HIM?, now, after all the torture, etc. Can this poor man have a 'normal' life anymore???? No, probably not. People who have experienced this amount of horror, do not return to a 'normal' life at all. OK, where will he be institutionalized? Who will pay for his re-hab???? Not the Torturers, that's for sure. If they get patriated into the US, where they now certainly have a right to be, the bill will again fall on us peóns, again!
SCARBOROUGH: Perhaps Jesse should stop smoking whatever Jesse's been smoking and keep his mouth shut about things he knows absolutely nothing about."
If that were a criteria Scar followed he'd be off the air tomorrow. Better watch it there Scar with the drug innuendo considering your party's leader was an Oxycontin lush and considering your party spokesperson Mann Coulter looks like a scrawny heroin addict.
Here's a letter I sent the New York times on a letter from mika that they did not publish:
This was without a doubt the most self-serving letter I've ever seen on any opinion page. Mika Brezinkski claims that Joe Scarborough is equally tough to everyone, but cannot cite anything to back that comment up. In the two examples she did provide, she wrote, "Joe was one of the first TV reporters to criticize the Bush White House during Hurricane Katrina...," but apparently not the first. He was merely jumping on the bandwagon. Additionally the word criticize seems more apropos for an opinion writer, not a journalist who's expected to report the news not be the news. Mika than says, "...Joe urges his party to be more moderate in temperment and more accepting from dissent from leaders like former Secretary of State Colin L Powell." One can note that she did not say that about dissent from the population at large, or leaders of any political party, just one of the then Republican administration. This seems to show an authoritarian inclination.
Seeing that Mika Brezinski serves as an anemic co-host with Joe Scarborough, rarely contradicting him, rarely adding anything of her own to the conversations to the point where one wonders just what her function is for the show, other than lending her father's name, her letter just shows that she not only knows which side of her toast the butter is on, she's buttering it herself.

at the NYT.
She's a total apologist for the guy.
That's the one.
So what did you think of my unpublished response; did they do me a favor?
I just reread her missive.
I'm glad she described herself as 'liberal,' or I'd have never guessed.
It's conservative people like Mika who give REAL left-leaning, progressive liberal types of people a bad name. The only liberal thing about this poor deluded child is how she allows Joe to liberally roll all over her, blank her out.
One point I didn't cover since there's a word length, was she said joe faulted boosh for overspending. But all the conservatives have since he's dropped in opinion polls. Like his father they claim he wasn't a REAL conservative, although they backed his tax cuts for the wealthiest DURING times of war.
They called us traitors for having our doubts.
In other words, they claim there's nothing wrong with conservative policies, only those who fail to carry them out successfully, but so far no one has, not even ray gunn. He doubled a 200 something year old deficit in just 8, increased the divide between the wealthy and the rest of us, and probably aggravated the homeless problem.
Conservative policies always work - until they are actually implemented.
Then its Bill Clinton's fault.
Final Exam on Monday.

Let's waterboard Joe and get to the truth about the dead female intern....hmmm. On the other hand, I'd love to see BigMouth Joe go mano a mano with Ventura on anything, intellectual or physical. Would love to see the latter on PayTv. Do it for charity. Make it waterboarding. Ooops. I'll be GungHo Joe will turn out to be another Sean Hannity....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrLx-Jqm980&fe...
Wonder why Olberman never takes on Scarborough in the Worst Person segment? Yes, I suspect it has to do with the "MSNBC family thing"....and while Fox News deserves the great attention Olberman gives it, if he'd take something like this segment and just run it without comment would please me greatly.
And Olberman is the Top Dog on MSNBC, what's he got to fear? On the other hand, to parrot a right-wing meme: "nobody watches Scarborough anyway".
Here ye! Here ye! here ye! Step right up to the "national waterboarding festival" where, for only $5.00 you can watch Sean Hannity, Joe Scarbourough, Newt, the Puke, Gingrich, Flush the Rush Limbaugh, and Rudy Julie Annie and more get waterboarded for fun and profit. Watch your heros and laugh at their amazing skills: crying, whining, choking, maybe, even drowning to the tunes of AC/DC/ Led Zepplin and more. Step right up for a waterboarding festival to remember. Refreshments at an additional cost.....
A good time is guaranteed for all
Mr.Kite
..... from Jesse. Then he could speak from personal knowledge instead of out of his corn-hole.
Jesse struck a nerve, didn't he? The truth hurts, bitches.
Cause he sure sounds like a chicken-hawk to me. Vets do not question if water boarding as torture, they know it. They also know it yields bad intel and is used as a recruiting tool by the terrorists.
Tell us Joe, what proof do you have water-boarding works? Cheney's word. That and a buck might get you a cup of coffee

thats the whole problem, they dont even know how to tie down a pumpkin! Thanks for the laugh
Samson said it at the start of this thread, and others have said it in other ways:
Waterboarding does work, in that the victim will tell you absolutely anything that you wish to hear.
Today, yesterday, every day. Hogging the mic. Shouting people down. Endless self-congratulation. Constant digs that come across as bullying. Boring references to Newt, St. Reagan, 1995, and Scarborough's own VERY SHORT Congressional career. If I took a sip of coffee every time he started a sentence with "When I...", I'd be too jittery to function.
Why does MSNBC keep this fool on but get rid of David Shuster who actually points out the truth when people like Joe flat out lie? Joe should go to Fox Noise channel, then if a person wants to hear lies to back up their own views, they are very save there.
But there should be a place where people who want the truth mixed in with their news have a save place also. I was very happy when they moved Joe so early in the morning, I'm on the west coast, that he didn't come on when I'm awake, but the damage he does ripples through the day. Just having Mika disapprove, quietly and say Oh Joe, does not give an alternate view. Her father must be so embarrassed by her. My favorite guest of theirs, which I watch on video, is her father as he rips Joe a new one with facts, something Joe has real problems with.
Never seen this assholes morning Joe. But I would gladly watch if he would go at it with Jesse.
Got $10 bucks on "the body;" 15 seconds or less!
...from someone who leaves bludgeoned-to-death aides lying about?
Joe Scarborough has picked his side and it's on the wrong side of history.
He must be auditioning for a slot on FOX, or HNN. He's becoming the Glenn Beck of MSNBC.
That boy's career is slowly winding down.
I read right there in the NYTimes, the all-hallowed Paper Of Record, that Joe is a bipartisan fellow who religiously shows both sides of an issue and that Mika is a liberal. Of course, that was in a letter from Mika.
The idea of Scarborough attacking Ventura for knowing nothing about torture is almost as farcical as the 40-Year-Old Virgin attacking Hugh Hefner for knowing nothing about how to score chicks.
"This is a guy who, by the way -- I must continue to say this -- that got paid two million dollars by this network, did one show and sucked so bad that they sent him back to Minnesota and said "we never want to see you again."
So this is Joe Scarborogh's litmus test for relevance, whether or not you can do a friggin' TV show? Talk about delusions of grandeur!
republicanism is a mental illness.
Joe is a coward!
Someone who is not only willing, but eager, to give up his principles, his morals, his rights, for the perception of safety!
And as you can see, a lot of folk can fit this description.
COWARDS!!!
