Heather Wilson Compares RNC's $150,000 Shopping Spree to Obama's 'Ties' and Biden's Hair Transplants

She just had to go there. During an exchange on Late Edition Oct. 26, 2008, Heather Wilson could just not resist taking a cheap shot at Biden for his hair transplants and compares the money spent by the RNC on Palin's clothing to what Obama spends on his ties as well. Since the Republicans have tried to paint Palin as a Washington outsider, a maverick and reformer---this clothing spree certainly shattered that image.
Let us remember how the Republicans went wild over John Edwards 400.00 hair cut. Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee used it as laugh lines at one of the Republican Primary debates.
BLITZER: Heather Wilson, are you embarrassed that the Republican National Committee spent $150,000 buying designer outfits for Sarah Palin at Saks and Neiman-Marcus, another $20,000 for make-up in the first two weeks of October alone, $10,000 for hair? Is this what a hockey mom should be getting?
WILSON: Well, that sounds like there are some staffers at the RNC who need a little education on how to shop at Wal-Mart and Ross Direct. But it does concern me in the last 10 days of an election campaign we're talking about those things.
WILSON: And we could talk about Barack Obama's ties or the vice president's hair transplants or something like that.
WASSERMAN-SCHULTZ: Barack Obama doesn't spend that kind of money on ties. He buys them himself.
WILSON: But I would rather talk about things that matter like which direction we go to get our economy back on track. And we have two very different candidates in very different directions here, and I think that Americans should be concerned about Pelosi, Reid and Obama because Katie bar the door on government spending if that's the way Americans choose to go. And we will go back to very big government and government in your lives in every aspect of your life.
WASSERMAN-SCHULTZ: Wolf, when it comes to spending, it's the Republicans under the Bush administration that have gotten us into the biggest deficit in American history. We had a --
WILSON: It is the Congress that appropriates, Debbie, and you of all people know that.
WASSERMAN-SCHULTZ: And the Congress was controlled by Republicans for eight out of the last 10 years, so let's keep that in mind.
WILSON: And we balanced for the first time since 1969.
WASSERMAN-SCHULTZ: No, no, no, my dear, you got us into a deficit situation within three years of the Bush administration. So, we had a Clinton surplus and we have a Bush deficit and that's what John McCain would continue more of the same

This morning Joe Scarborough decided to piss and moan about the price of Obama's campaign plane. He said Obama had purchased the most fancy jet made and the most expensive. He also suggested that Obama should sell the plane and give the money to people who are losing their homes.
Joe didn't mention that the McCains could have gathered up their chump change and paid for the Palin make-over, clothes, makeup and all of it.
Matters not who did what. Both parties are responsible for the fiscal mess. Dems voted for Shrub's little adventures as well as Repubs. At the end of the day, proclaiming what you are going to do in the next four years is really beyond stupidity. Whatcha gonna do? Without radical changes and sweeping across the board tax increases coupled with spending cuts, the mushrooming debt is uncontrollable at this point. If the US was any other nation on the globe, it would have been forced into bankruptcy, or following IMF policies by now.

As I see the situation it appears that if we elect McCain/Palin it may be about 10 years or more of pain and with Obama/Biden, maybe 5-6. Either way it's going to hurt and the medicine we're all going to have to take is going to be quite nasty.

That's what has made the Republicans so effective over the last eight years. They have a lie ready for every question. Although the media has gotten a bit better at calling them on it, they still get away with it on a massive scale.
I doubt the campaign pays for Obama's ties or Biden's hair transplants. Homely Wilson might think about spending a few bucks to get herself a decent hair cut. If the campaign would front her the money, I wouldn't have a problem with that. She definitely needs a makeover.
Besides, Biden got those transplants god knows how many years ago.

The Democratic party should be more accepting of their orientations, as we are the party of inclusion and not division like the Palincrats. The smart way to handle this shopping spree flap would've probably been to say something like "We had to do that to get our message across to the elitists in New York, San Francisco and Hollywood. They won't listen to anyone who doesn't spend more on their wardrobe than most real Americans spend on their first house."

RNC Chair Mike Duncan was on Nora O'Donnell's show on MSNBC today and he flat out would NOT answer any of her questions. Nora's was getting mad (good for her) as she found dealing with a Lying Crook like RNC Chair Mike Duncan to be like trying to pull a slab of beef from an African Lion's jaws. Has anyone made the link between her and Jackie Kennedy. Everytime she's at a rally, shaking hands, and doing interviews she just comes off as so amazingly charming and brilliant. In a time in our history when I believe first ladies matter we can't do much better than Michelle Obama.
