Harold Ford Jr.: It Was Good to Hear President Bush's Voice
Yeah, I just love the sound of fingernails across a chalkboard too, Harold. It's hard to feel good about these two leading the fundraising effort for Haiti knowing full well the damage they helped heap upon that country, but not for Harold Ford Jr. He's just lovin' that bipartisanship, don't you know... and the sound of George Bush's voice. Good grief.

Bipartisanship?
I see four Republicans in this picture.

good antidote for Ford, to remind him just where Bush took us.

Goodnight, Frau Blücher
Thanks but no thanks.
I'll stick with Parenti or Chomsky, et al.

They are both socialists and Chomsky has anarchist leanings. You think socialism is a more selfless benevolent system? Really? If the USSR taught the world anything it's that socialism can be hijacked by communism all too easily. It looks great on paper but in practice it is a breeding ground for corruption and elitism. I'll take freedom and liberty any day over that. Our system may have corruption but on a global scale we are better off than any other system out there.
Goodnight, Frau Blücher
If the USSR taught the world of people who know what they're talkin about anything, its that it taught us nothing about socialism or communism because it was both neither and an effort tarnished by one of the most downtrodden countries beforehand in history.
Am I understanding this correctly? That you think the USSR was neither socialist or communist? Really?! If it wasn't I'd love to hear what you think it was. Having grown up during the cold war maybe I need to go dust off my old brain's memory's or something.
Goodnight, Frau Blücher
I don't think anyone would accuse, say, Denmark with being Communist. They have a pretty long history of stable government, even during the Cold War, and have never been hijacked by the dreaded Communists. But on the other hand, you can look to, say, Austria and say that there has been a fight brewing for years by the extreme right-wing nationalists there. So I ask you, who is the current threat in the world, the socialists or the nationalists? It's the same fight here to a degree.
none is perfect but as global systems go the US isn't doing too badly as a whole when compared to other systems.
Goodnight, Frau Blücher
And chomsky doesn't know what he's talkin about alot of the time either.
God american's/alot of the west just don't get it right.
I just love hearing about how the rest of the world, is smarter, wiser, and knows the facts better than us. So why do people flock to this country again? Must be out of sympathy or something.
Goodnight, Frau Blücher
The sound of the four of them will do wonders for Haitians…
Coup d'Etats past, not quite present and who knows about the future.
Why isn't Bush in jail?
statusquObama, change you can only pretend in
Because the people we elected to right the ship are busy playing shuffle board. He'll never face justice.
Because Obama wants to "look forward".
That's why.
scumbag.
This is two retired presidents saying they will help raise money. They are not in the government anymore so it's not bipartisanship. Hopefully they both will do what they can to raise money. My bet is that Bush won't do much.
I heard a clip of Bush yesterday. He said something like, "I know alot of people want to send blankets and water and food. Just send cash."
And he said it in that tired sounding snide tone like he was being forced to say something that he didn't really want to say.
That's a great sentiment you shithead. People willing to send supplies and whatever they can but no thank you. Just send cash. Personally, I don't really trust organizations, even so called humanitarian ones. If I send money maybe it goes directly to the people of Haiti and maybe it goes to a round of coffee and donuts for the staff. If I send canned goods and blankets I know they're most likely going to the people who need it.
Real classy there you thieving, lying, murdering F-CK! See ya in hell.

...and it immediately called up all the old animosity that the worst president ever has always brought forth in me. As always, he sounded like an idiot -- a rude, petulant, thoughtless idiot.
It's not surprising that Ford would enjoy the sound of that voice -- the less I hear of both voices (Bush and Ford), the better off I'll be. And since both mouth little more than mindless platitudes, I doubt if their idiotic jabberings will do much for others.
My thoughts exactly, Sticksman and oh really.
ps, thanks for the link, Alice X.
But what really set me off, in addition to the snide tone of the "Worst President, Ever," was what he actually said. He promised that he and Clinton would, "make sure your money is spent wisely." He said it in that sarcastic, mocking tone he always uses! The man is a consummate liar. We sent 8 yrs. of tax dollars to the creep's administration; history is clear on how wisely they spent those trillions. He's as crooked as they come, and should be in jail along with the rest of his "gang" (and I use that term as I would any criminal cohort fleecing the public's money for their own nefarious purposes). Unfortunately, Clinton's not much better. Obama would do well to distance himself from slime like these two dishonorable men, as well as that scumbag Ford. Yuk, I feel dirty just writing about them!
Although I don't know what this all really says about these Democrats colluding to rehabilitate Bush's tarnished image.
So who is worse; he who is born a sociopath or they who cater to such an animal?
It looks like the "Change we can believe in" is at work again.
This time it's Chump Change! Translation Dubya and Bubba.
Thanks Obama.
With that being said, I still wondered who in New York would possibly back this fellow for office, and while I figured something was amiss, I did not see coming that it would be one of the worst persons in the world, Mike Bloomberg. If that doesn't turn off any sentient being to Harold Ford, I don't know what could, except someone praising Bush.
The type of bread is not necessarily the ingredient that makes a shit sandwich such a bloody awful meal.
Perhaps those should be served at Harold the Harlot's fundraisers.
Please!
Can we please be done with "bipartisanship" ?
THE two parties working together to benefit each other does US no good.
I want to see nonpartisanship.
You know, political activity designed to benefit US, the people.
Not THE two parties.
When will government of the people, by the politicians, for the corporations perish from this Earth?
Not soon enough!
Bipartisanship is when they work together as parties. There has not, will not be any cooperation from the republicans to make this a better country to live in.
Excellent! What a concept, eh? Good luck with that. Here's a start: http://ultimatecivics.org/index -- Ultimate Civics is engaging the 21st-century civil rights battle: human rights versus corporate rights -- be a part of the solution!
This has nothing to do with bi-partisanship.
This is purely domestic politics being played by Obama - and using a terrible crisis to do it.
The U.S. gave 100 million of our tax money to Haiti.
In the last five days the U.S. gave FOUR BILLION DOLLARS of our money to the war in Iraq.
and wonder why the war criminal hasn't been pitched in the brig by now, but imagine how fast the wingers' heads are spinning, when they see Bush up there with two Dems, and Bush defending Obama's response. This could get real interesting in in GOP and teabag land.
I don't give one sh-t about what the GOP or the teabaggers think.
Obama's association with that war criminal - resurrecting the s.o.b. - making us see his distorted face again - my head is spinning.
I wish that Obama and Bush could be placed in a cell together.
Bush, Clinton, Obama
Three of a Perfect Pair
Or was he getting their t-time reservations taken care of at the country club?
Bush ended democracy in Haiti in 2004. He used American soldiers to do it.
This doesn't mean anything to Obama.
What Bush did to us means nothing to Obama.
And Obama means nothing for America.
sad, but true
I guess Harold Brown managed to squeeze out a few words between the time that he stopped sucking Rahm Emnauel's dick and started sucking George W. Bush's.
Vote GOP and move forward to the 18th Century.
Harold actually is the filling in the Sanchez shit sandwich.
As a New Yorker, I wasn't crazy about Gillenbrad, but I am now. I hope she clobbers Ford.
Kissing George Bush's ass isn't going to endear Ford to New Yorkers, period.
With a name like ford and the bail outs they seem to go hand in hand. Thank god my husband got me a prius so i dont need to spend on gas, and have a really low auto insurance quote.
I wonder how long it'll take for Americans in general, not just right-wingers, to be brainwashed into considering George W. Bush a great president? It sounds crazy, but it was achieved for Nixon and Reagan, both of whom were also major criminals in the same league as Bush. It took a quarter century to inflate Nixon's reputation, but we're already seeing Americans thinking Clinton was responsible for 911, with some even forgetting that 911 occurred under Bush.
Why doesn't he talk like a Yankee
Which he actually is?

To the point where I think voice training would be a requisite in Seminary
And now that I think of it, too many politicians have grating voices

Harold Ford is just another DLC Clinton disciple. A republican sociopath, masquarading as a democrat. If they would accept him into "their" club, he would join the GOP in a heartbeat.
Instead, he has to sit back and blow them from the outside looking in. But never mind, because he is able to put together a lucrative living for himself; so it all is worth it.
If I were a psychopath, I would join the republican party, and get in on the gravy train taking the Teabircher morons to the cleaners.
that Harold Ford has been getting a bad wrap lately (I like the guy, for some reason) and I think this comment is a little bit blown out of proportion. I, along with him, am glad to hear Bush's voice, in this particular situation. However, I'd rather not see or hear from him, in general. But, when disasters like the one in Haiti occur, in my opinion, you need all current and former leaders to be present and show some form of leadership. At this point, it should be less about ideology and more about coming together as a country.
The thing I would like to see is the back of his head as he returns home to stay!
It's funny to ask the question why people flock here. It's also funny to note that the U.S. doesn't have a problem with Western Europeans or any other industrialized nation 'flocking' over here. Maybe it has to do with what priorities Western Europe followed through with after WW II? I don't know, but I just don't see too many Swedes jamming our streets. I wonder why that is?
Why so anyry Vegas? Unless of course you mean 'rage' in the party sense.
Seeing Bush is a reminder of what it means to be the Worst President Ever and creates a frame of reference for the windbags that are babbling on about how Obama is so "dangerous" and "destroying our country."
As a side note: Either 50% of this country is living in some virtual reality matrix, or I've been transported to some bizzarro planet...because I seem to be experiencing a totally different reality than these wingnuts that seem to be everywhere. Either their tinfoil hat is on the fritz, or mine is, because I cannot seem to tune into their frequency.
It infuriates me that I actually sent money in support of this man when the righties (that Ford seems to support in a Lieberman sort of way) were making political hay out of another of his failed candidacy attempts. I hope NY and Connecticut get it together and see through these phonies!!!
