Forbes on Fox Panelists Push for Social Security Privatization
Even after Wall Street blew up our economy and Americans got to experience their 401K's and pension funds taking massive hits due to their maleficence, some of the panel members of this Saturday's Forbes on Fox were still pushing for Social Security privatization.
Host David Asman started out the segment by touting Max Baucus' proposal as part of the "super committee" to limit pay increases for Social Security benefits, followed by Rick Perry's push for privatization of the system and him asking his panel for their input. All of them other than panelist Mark Tatge thought either total or partial privatization of the system, or at least raising the retirement age would be a wonderful way to "reform" Social Security. And only Tatge bothered to remind any of them that after what he saw happen to his 401K after the recent financial meltdown, maybe turning over the country's retirement security to Wall Street might not be such a good idea.
Despite the fact that we've got thousands of people out protesting and taking to the streets in the Occupy Wall Street movement because they're fed up with the greed and inequality and what the financial industry has done to the American economy, this is the kind of tripe that Fox is feeding their audience on a daily basis. Let's follow the Chilean model as we've seen GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain pushing for, or if we don't do that, let's just let everyone work until they drop dead instead.
Anything other than asking the richest one percent to pay more in taxes, because god knows we can't have that, now can we?
1. Give the money to Wall Street.
2. Abrogate the responsibility to pay off the Treasury Notes held by the SS trust fund.
Actually for some, (e.g. Alan Simpson) 2. is probably the first priority and in "Lets take the suckers' money to pay for tax cuts for the 1% and pretend we only borrowed it until they need it back to pay SS benefits."
I don't even know why I am bothering to comment on this article except maybe it angers me to the point my head is ready to explode. I just love it when some trust fund POS like Forbes presumes to tell me with whom I should put my money for retirement. Since 2008 I am keeping mine in the mattress because at least I know where it is and some greedy SOB on Wall Street won't screw me out of any more than they already have.
I know it is Sunday and I should behave in a more Christian fashion, but Forbes as he ages looks more like Howdy Doody than Howdy Doody. Let's pair him up with McConnell and maybe we can get one good chin.

is immaterial to a lot of the 99% who are coming up on 65. Raise it, lower it, leave it alone it will not change things one little bit. With the 401k gone and the bank taking the house we'll be working till the day we die. If anyone will heir us, that is.
Because forcing the 1% to pay some extra tip money - even a very large tip - in no way justifies cutting cutting Social Security benefits. SS does not contribute to the deficit. Period.
Yet the trade off of cutting Social Security in exchange for revenue increases keeps getting shopped by Village Elders.
How is this in any way acceptable?

I have always felt that one of the reasons President Bush pushed so hard for privatization of Social Security was because he knew what was coming down the road. He knew that Wall Street was going to need a lot of cash fast and the easiest way he saw was for the privatization of Social Security. Wall Street would have been able to hide their malfeasance for another two or three years, if not longer, due to the huge influx of cash.
Social Security would become Social Insecurity and that we cannot allow.

SS is the one giant source of revenue that the 1% cannot get their hands on. They want it all and they will not be satisfied until they get it all.
Just wait until the GOP takes over, 2012,2016,2020,however long it takes,they will sell off everything to the 1%. National Parks,Monuments,and Forest,will be old off to their overlords along with our highways,drinking water,and anything else that might be public owned.
But wait,can we not address these grievances to the Courts?
The Supreme Court has been given over to those who feel that corporations have rights that trump citizens. The 1% has completed the hostile takeover of this country and they are currently in mop-up operation. They have suspended the rule of law for themselves and imposed Marshall Law (Patriot Act), for the 99%,to be enforced by members of the 99%.
We can still fight back and take our country back from the 1% and the parasites that protect them, but less than 1% of the 99% want to step up in order to protect their own livelihood.

Why would a normal person want to put a for profit organization between me and my social security money? It would only make less money for me and the other people who are receiving it or will be receiving it.
If I had control of my SS money...I wouldn't necessarily entrust it to a for profit organization to invest it for me.
