Eric Cantor Cites Job Creation as Key Issue for 2010 Midterm Elections
From C-SPAN's Dec. 7 airing of Politics in 2010, a panel discussion hosted by The Economist, Eric Cantor cites job creation as one of the key issues which will determine the outcome of the 2010 midterm election. Besides that being glaringly obvious Cantor cites the GOP's job creation plan he talked about at the Heritage Foundation the previous week. Looks like the same thing they did for eight years under George Bush to me and we know how well that worked out.

if Obama will be willing to 'blow up' the bullshit arguments made by the people who got us into this mess.
Should I still be waiting for the effects of Shrub's $600 stimulus checks? He told me to wait and see what a big effect they'd have...
It's like a penguin teaching us to fly. Let's not forget that Cantor was part of the Rubber Stampers during the Bush years that created this unemployment mess. Please do tell us Cantor how you think you're going to create more jobs. Wait don't, I think I already know. Tax cuts for the rich. That old trickle down theory of their hero Ronnie Raygun.
is intended to be a factual statement
Getting rid of every filthy, lying republican scumbag in the senate and congress!
By god these I can't think of anything bad enough to call these things. But we need to rid ourselves of them once and for all!
republicanism/conservatism is a mental illness that is killing America!
That is the stupidest line I've ever heard. as a business owner, I don't need a tax cut. I need customers, people with spending money in their pockets. If I'm not selling my product I don't need to worry about paying taxes, hiring employees or anything else. The only thing that will stimulate job growth in this country is a drastic reduction in personal debt or a big increase in personal income and that isn't going to happen anytime soon.
You've already gotten your tax cut. Less customers = less taxes paid. Yes, you do have less income, but Republicans aren't worried about that. You just fail at Free Market Capitalism if you can't sell enough stuff.
tax cuts created millions of jobs. Your problem is how to get all those employed Chinese and Indians to your marketplace.
The same thing we do every night, America- try to take over the world (using exactly the same empty plan we always use).
Cantor is a man that obviously wanted to do something, be someone, be a "somebody", but he just didn't have what it takes to do that. Pity him and keep him, far away from the machinery of politics and government.

Sack of S*** has the morals and scruples of a pimp.
Please people try to keep a high tone when talking about eric and only mention his good points as I did.
Since when do the Repuglicans care about jobs (except when they're for sweetheart private contractor jobs)?
What is their record on job creation? Their record for workers rights, minimum wage, standing up for the little guy?
Yeah, we know what they will do to create jobs. Give the wealthy a tax cut and let it trickle down.
Now we see the tactic these asses will use in their campaigns. They'll tell us whatever they think we want to hear. The sad thing is many of us are gullible enough to listen.
Only idiot droolers(aka the republican base) will believe their lies. More tax cuts for the wealthy is their motto.
Republicans are liars and simply cannot be trusted.
Hey CantWhore, driving young Americans into the military doesn't count as job creation.
Generally speaking I don't trust anyone making over 150K a year.
ZING!

How many republicans believe the tax cut bullshit put forth by frank luntz, the gop, and the msm!
The fox watching are the worst. They believe what ever is said on fox.
I have been wondering if maybe they have been druged, or hypnotized?
I hate to admit it but there is something wrong with them.
I'm not sure how it happened but it has rendered them imbecilic.
They are absolutely incapable of doing anything other then screaming socalist, and argue that no matter how much we spend on defense it's worth it.
I don't know about you but nothing says coward to me like a chicken hawk!
And nothing says insanity like a republican.
republicanism/conservatism is a mental illness that is killing America!
I've had the same feeling about the Fox news watchers myself. I just sum it up by calling it the Fox Nation. That's what they call it. They are truly their own republic as far as I can tell. It has a lot to do with drama and edge of your seat danger and not much to do with reality and problem solving.
How this evolved into acceptance by so many as intelligent, productive discussion I will never know.
They are the fox nation.
Tax cuts will not help. The conservative tax cuts benefit only the wealthy, and work to concentrate more wealth in the hands of a privileged few. What we need is economic incentives for people to start their own small businesses.
Corporate america, with the advent of technology tools that allows work to be done anywhere, has become addicted to cheap foreign labor. There is a huge shifting of jobs offshore. People see this every day when they call the airlines for a reservation or tech company for computer help - they get "Bob" in Bangalore, or "Cindy" in Budapest.
Ross Perot, while an odd bird, was correct when he pointed out years ago that the "giant sucking sound you hear is U.S. jobs leaving the country." Well, IBM and companies like it are hiring overall - in India, China, Brazil and Russia - while they are laying off 10,000 people in the U.S. ! We can't trust IBM to provide jobs anymore. They are destroying jobs at an alarming rate.
Policy needs to be put in place to discourage big companies form offshoring jobs. And policy needs to be in place to encourage people to start their own small businesses.

I just have a really hard time believing the good people of Virginia are happy with this nerd representing them with his twisted bull shit and "wanna-slap-that-f*cking-smerk-off-your-face smile". I haven't heard ONE intelligent thing come out of this fart breath's mouth.
Such a spineless, unchallenged turd.
I cantor even believe he exists in politics. It just doesn't make sense unless something is badly off the rails under the surface - badly, dangerously... remember to vote early!
If something or someone doesn't make sense there is always a sinister reason - Republicantors are not an exception!

Eric Cantor represents a very wealthy conservative district in western Henrico county. His seat is quite secure, unfortunately. Actually, he represents the district I live in, and his kids go to the public schools. As far as I'm concerned he's a spineless weasel, an opportunist. There's certainly nothing very manly about him. In fact, I met a very nice Jewish woman during the campaign who knew him growing up, and who happens to have a gay son. She told me she firmly believes he's a closeted homosexual, not that there's anything wrong with being gay. I keep hoping maybe he'll slip up and get caught having an affair with a man. That might me enough to unseat him. Otherwise, we're stuck with him for the duration. He's very well connected.
When will these hate everyone/afraid of everything cons wake up and boot this self hating closet case from the party?
I didn't attend, but I didn't have to. Was the agenda something like this?
1. Tax cuts for millionaires.
2. Trickle down (see 1 above).
3. Tax cuts for billionaires and corporations who already don't pay taxes.
4. Deregulation.
5. Cut or eliminate any social programs that benefit anyone making less than 1 million dollars year.
6. More Free Trade Agreements
7. More outsourcing. (Don't ask. This produces jobs in the parallel universe the GOPers live in).
8. After all of your disatrous policies destroy the country, take NO responsibility for it; and continue your MSM 24/7 propaganda blitz emphatically stating that the policies didn't fail, they just were not fully implemented yet. Thirty years is not enough time to grade them fairly!
And the unemployed red state morons and bigots, will vote for this in overwhelming numbers. Because Jesus loves it when rich people screw stupid poor people.
Rush Limbaugh is what a smart person thinks a stupid bigot sounds like.
And how to you propose to do that Eric? Don't tell me. I can guess: more tax cuts for the wealthy, more deregulation, more of the same nonsense that got us into trouble in the first place. The Dems need to start debunking this garbage asap. I'm all in favor of helping the small business owners, but that's not what our system has done. Eric Cantor is all about Wall Street and corporate America. He's a country club Republican through and through.
nd now Cantor cites the resolution of these dire times as the lithmus test for the next president. Hey kids, here's an idea... set your neighbors home on fire and THEN rescue their family and try hard to act the hero.
Just as stupid, just as big an attention whore.
My mind defaults to "rank bullshit - ignore."
Excuse me...
Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!
Thank you.

"...Cantor cites the GOP's job creation plan he talked about at the Heritage Foundation the previous week. Looks like the same thing they did for eight years under George Bush to me and we know how well that worked out."
But at least the Republicans are doing SOMETYHING! What have the Democrats done? Are they even aware -- or do they even care -- that people are still dying due to lack of medical care, or that people are still losing their homes? As a retiree on a VERY limited income, I am having to choose between paying for medications and paying the heating bill. But all it seems that Obama ia capable of doing -- or willing to do -- is flush money down the sewer for his wars. I truly thought that he was better than that -- or smarter than that.
THANK GOD FOR THE REPUBLICANS!! Just knowing that someone has a functioning brain and understands what is going on is a huge help.
Go get 'em, guys! And good luck in 2010.
We can't let either party off the hook & allow them to simply say job creation is key. There is another, essential component.
Stagnant wages over the past 10 years suggest that when jobs are eventually created, as we know they will be, then those jobs will likely not pay a living wage.
This country is well past the day when employers felt any ethical or other obligation to pay their workers enough to live on. So until federal living-wage legislation is passed, low & stagnant wages are here to stay.
(Side note: why do so few people see paying decent wages as insurance, or a hedge, against a popular revolt?)
Seems to be a repeat of the same ideas that got us into the hole we are currently in. Like: Don't implement the regulations that will help to prevent the next melt down. Suspend the unemployment insurance tax so that we can kill it later. Reduce taxes because that always works. Have people work for companies on the tax payers tab. Just brilliant. The definition if insanity is to keep doing the same things but expecting different results. It has not yet dawn on most Americans that the Republican plan is not to fix the economy but to transfer wealth from the poor and middle class to the rich. Thats what they have alway done. They scream wealth redistribution whenever there is a social program that will help the poor. But wealth redistribution from the poor to the rich is the republican program.
