Dennis Prager Thinks Gay Marriage is a Bigger Threat Than a Bad Economy

Prager: I think we are more likely to survive economically than we are the redefinition of marriage.
Yeah that's it Dennis. Gay marriage is going to end life as we know it but a depression....meh. Or maybe he just meant we have a better chance of coming out of this bad economy than we do not seeing gay marriage become legal?? Maybe someone can explain it to me. Who knows but Dennis, when you use the word "survive" it sounds like you're trying to equate gay marriage with something that's going to kill us.
John Aravosis rightfully has a good chuckle at Prager's expense after he made the statement. These conservatives are getting more ridiculous by the day with their rhetoric. Of course Prager also doesn't understand why this is a civil rights issue and why he and his ilk are looked at as bigots for their stance.
I've got a question that either John or Howard should have asked Dennis. What do you think is a bigger threat to marriage? Gays being allowed to marry or someone like yourself being allowed to get divorced twice and married three times? Come on Dennis! If you can do it three times can't the gay people be allowed to get married even once? Conservative...hypocrisy is thy name.

I'm getting a little confused with the abbreviations, but the site for national organization for marriage has a similar abbreviation, and they're against gay marriage, that was the joke. Sort of along the lines of Nixon's '72 campaign being called Committee to REElect the President (CREEP).
But I'm NOT A CROOK! (unless I get caught, oopsie!)
And it's abbreviation used in personal ads to indicate men seeking men for romantic activity. Hence the joke.
Also, teabagging is a sexual activity that involves putting the scrotum into the mouth of another person. Hence, conservatives using the term repeatedly is funny.

Especially when there is one bigoted statement after another that falls from their mouths and then the standard, "but I'm not a bigot!" ridiculous disclaimer. As if they are the authority on deciding they aren't being a bigot!

I fully support gay marriage 210% and believe that Dennis Prager is a threat to freedom, human rights, and yes, the economy, since gay people on average, make more than the median income of all Americans.

I'm a very happily married heterosexual woman. My husband and I have been married for over 20 years and were introduced by a gay man, hah.
I've always believed that gay marriage is only threatening if you think you are gay. One of my good gay friends married his partner, but being the smart, resourceful man that he is, he and his partner approached his partner's parents about adopting him, to which they agreed. This way, if anything happens that negates their union, he and his partner are still related. He should not have had to do it, but at least they will always be able to make decisions regarding each other. He likes to say that he's now f***ing his brother, and that is why I love him. Life would be so damn boring without my irreverent gay friends, drag queens, etc.

Isn't it more likely that your personal depravity has cheapened the institution of marriage more than any threat of same sex marriage, what with you getting in and out of it like a pair of worn out slippers.
He's found a way to profit handsomely from his minions; Cash flow isn't a problem he's going to be sweating too soon, even in this economy.

The point is, the only reason Dennis the menace's panties are in a twist is because the act of consumating this relationship involves sex in a way he does not approve of. The moment you impose your own religious morals or personal preferences upon another (especially via the government) is the moment you become a racist, bigot, or tyrant.
The defense of marriage argument slips the moment you accept that a marriage can be ended by either person. Marriage (according to law) is a personal contract entered into by to people, the government does not have the right to impose any personal or moral ideology upon me concerning any other contract, why this one?

Canada approved gay marriage in 2004.
After that the unemployment rate continued to fall to a 30 year low in 2007.
After that economic growth outperformed the U.S. and the rest of the G8.
After that Canada continued to post budget surpluses and pay down its national debt.
After that the Canadian dollar continued its rise from a low of .62 cents US to a high of $1.10US before going back to its sweet spot of .80US.
And while Canada is being sucked into the same depression as everyone else (through American mismanagement of its economy) it is still the only G8 country that hasn't had a single bank failure and is expected to come out of this recession first.
So I think Prager is wrong.
1) My white wife and I (Black Male) were married 26 years ago. In Prager's America this would be illegal, were he to have his way.
2) I remember a time when experts and analysts were the main interviewees of reporters, not radio and tv personalities.
if not Prager himself, who were shrieking that "miscegenation" would destroy America. Somehow we're still here. And the danger has actually been from the wingnuts themselves.
What's confusing is that these same people bitched and moaned about gay people because we were so promiscuous and illicit and unstable. Now that a lot of gay people want to form stable legal family units, and conform to a hetero standard, they scream and bitch that we're destroying society. You can never win or satisfy these people. They're only happy when making others unhappy.

Just for kicks, I did a tax comparison tonight after filing. If it was legal for my partner and I to be married (not sure we'd do it anyway), we would've gotten BACK about $2000. Instead, we owed - added up separately - about $1500. nice.
Maybe this is why the powers that be don't want us to be married? Forget latching on to the whole morality issue. You can't tell me that the "government" really cares about it's constituants moral fortitude, let alone their own. When it comes to inacting/repealing laws, you just have to follow the money to see who's in charge.

I have been an active supporter of the Democratic Party for years. I have worked my butt off for many good causes for years, so I have the right to say this. Like many Democrats, I agree with almost everything in the platform EXCEPT homosexual marriage and legal abortion for any reason except rape, incest, or life of the mother being at risk.
As I said,I am strongly against homosexuals marrying each other, and also against polygamy and siblings marrying, which will be the next big legal battles, as mentioned on 20/20 and other news sources. And you know what really makes me sick? I AM SICK OF HOMOSEXUALS SAYING THAT HOMOSEXUAL MARRIAGE IS THE SAME AS THE CIVIL RIGHTS STRUGGLE. THAT IS OFFENSIVE TO ALL BLACK PEOPLE, SO STOP DOING IT. I finally told him,'You are like a guy who has had 3 DUI's, 2 were wrecks with casualities BUT you think you have the right to deny me a driver's license because you don't like who is in my passenger seat. You want to 'protect marriage', make 'adultery' a 'capitol offense' and outlaw 'divorce'. Otherwise, STFU.
