Chris Matthews To Ken Blackwell: Are You Saying Your Party is Morally Superior to the Democratic Party

In the wake of the Mark Sanford revelations, Chris Matthews gets Ken Blackwell to concede that the Republican Party is not morally superior to the Democratic Party. It's nice to see the hypocrisy of the "family values" party being called out for once.

and realize the republican party holds no real allegiance to their values?
Vitter is a classic OMG moment for me.
The reason they give each other passes on their oh so human foibles is because they are believers. They can sin and be forgiven. IOW they get a pass from Jesus.
They do not see this as hypocrisy at all because if you are a godless Democrat and get caught with your pants down, then you cannot be forgiven because you don't believe.
Mind you, I believe Christians ought to be able to forgive non Christians who trespass but I don't write their rules.
write the rules as they go. That's the problem. They really don't have any and if they do and happen to break them then they have mounds of excuses: it's Clinton's or Obama's fault; the devil made them do it; it was the blow or meth or Long Island Iced Teas; the tide is in; the markets up or down; there was a sale at Macys; they had a horrible childhood (I could go on....)
Ha! Reminds me of that scene in the Blues Brothers! ;)
we're a hundred miles from Chicago, we got half a pack of smokes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses --- Hit it!!! classic! or Jake begging for having jilted Carie Fisher, when he and Elwood were in the sewer
...... could it beeeee..... S-A-T-A-N!! LOL
have no power at all, which is what the Constitution intended. These two groups desperately need each other.
chrissie will be back to sniffing NeoCon AquaVelva by noon tomorrow.
i am shocked, shocked, i tell you! i am morally bereft. without an ethical compass now that those paragons of virtue and family values have fallen. oh what shall i do?
time to buy the waltons dvd box set i guess...
You certainly can't go to the Democratic Party because it's only the Republican Party platform that is right for America.
*winkwink* Say no more.
Why would anyone listen to Mr. Blackwell?
As an Ohio voter who saw what this sack of shit did during his time in office and the utter farce he made of the vote counting when Bush was handed another term in office, I just get pissed every time I see his smug pompous ass on TV. That bastard is nothing but an opportunist and did his duty as a faithful black man (paid shill) in the repug party last fall. He sent out the most outrageous e-mails calling Obama the antichrist and calling on all of his fellow Christians to come to the polls to defeat the evil democratic candidate. What an asshole! Why is anybody putting this bastard on their show?
Exactly. Tweety should be asking Blackwell about all those voting irregularities. Why isn't he?
Isn't there a test to take and pass before people can call themselves Christians? Shouldn't there be?
why not simply make it punishable by 20 years in the desert, if one does not deliver what is advertised? Simply match the biblical description of the faith, and when the party or individual demonstrates contrary values and/or actions, call them on it. Make no claim of any virtue, OK. Claim a high moral value, and do otherwise -- you should be shunned, no second chance at that position, go to jail -- start over.
Blackwell destroyed election results against a court order to preserve those records.
Blackwell has all of the moral compass of snake shite.
tell us how you really feel! heheheh.
to use the new embed feature on a post at my little blog. Forgive me that it's Matthews. Thanks Mistah Amato and Webmaster Jamie, for all your hard work on that.
xo
Blackwell, Steele, Keyes, Thomas, etc. Providing continued proof that being a Black Republican man is similar to erectile disfunction.
the irony abounds, doesn't it. Frankly, I'm seriously at a loss as to exactly whom would consider Blackwell a credible source on anything other than how to rig an election.
four hours, call your doctor. If you have one.
Iran is imploding, health care in America needs attending to, and lil Kim Jong Il is threatening to spit in Hawaii's general direction. This whole Mark Sanford thing is just a distraction which allows Democrats to get their gloat on and reveal their inner Republican.
I would call it more like comic relief.
Think what a wonderful thing it would be if Argentina had enough leggy temptresses to take the entirety of the Grand Obstructionist Party off to Buenos Aires for a week so real progressive legislation could be passed!
This isn't "US News & World Report, this is "Crooks and Liars".
hurt yourself when you fall off of that high horse.
I really can't stand it when posters come and lecture the other posters as if this is a classroom and they are the teacher.
of us also listen to Stephie Miller! (Politics, box wine and fart jokes!!)
:-D
...noted and logged.
Now, what say the rest us get back to being able to handle multiple topics, shall we? Ian will cover Iran and Dim Son Ill 24/7 on his blog for us, even though since we will be multitasking we'll be covering them as well.
have done plenty of posts on both. I know most people don't read this section of the blog unless the posts are promoted, but if you come over and take a look you'll find Iran and health care have been anything but ignored here.
Neither party is morally superior, but they seem to have more freaks than we do. Their guys do some funkier stuff than most.
Liberals are more secure in who they are, and therefor are not as likely to be hypocrites or live in "glass houses."
Hollier than thou closet case republicans actively attack innocent people for doing the same things they do in "secret."
It may not make us superior, but it definitely makes them "inferior."
I think I have seen more black republicans on t.v. than white ones over the last six months. Considering that 98% of the GOP is white, methinks there is a transparent attempt by our MSM to distort reality.
The occasional black Republican stands out against a field of pasty whiteness.
I don't think so. I have seen so many black repukes on t.v., that last week they were recycling Armstrong the payoff guy.
One channel even had a staffer of a former state GOP chair on. WTF?
If you are African American and looking for a television career, join the GOP and memorize their agenda. It only consists of three talking points, and you will be an instant political panelist.
whiteness than Seattle residents in the middle of winter! (we are a very blue state), but we gotta whole lotta sun free days, and when the sun finally does come back out in the spring, the pasty whiteness of Washingtonians can be a blinding experience! LOL But they (republi-kreeps) are not only pasty white, they are also mostly balding, with bad comb overs, or bad toupees!
Oh, I forgot to add this to my previous comment. I heard a guy on Fox today apologize for the station putting "Democrat" after Sanford's name yesterday. He said it was only there for a brief moment.
What a joke. Ask a liar to tell the truth? LOL
wow what a bunch of swelled head idiots!
republicanism is a mental illness! No other conclusion can be arrived at.
and it is called being a sociopath. folks that exhibit true concern only for themselves, and their immediate circle that support them in their controlled environment are no less self centered than Ted Bundy, they just pursue their self interests in a socially acceptable form -- REPUGLANISM.
You'd think part of being moral includes not stealing elections. Right, Mr. Blackwell?
Can anyone fathom why the map in this clip gives the titles of the Republicans but only shows last names for the Democrats? WTF?
I don't really give a rats ass who is faithful or not. Unless they are an "in-your-face," bible thumping, morals spewing hypocrite sack of shit like Sanford.
Runnung for office on his apple pie and gospel songs schtick, while demonizing everybody else for doing what he does himself.
Then I care.
That's one of the things I like about Chris Matthews, he calls a spade a spade. I can't watch light-weight "news" commentators and/or interviewers like Anderson Cooper, Wolfe Blitzer, for example. They are soft and predictable, monotonous and boring. Chris may babble but he more often than not generates some substantial dialogue that gives rise to some interesting and controversial points. And he's not afraid to put a guest on the spot when he thinks they are being disingenuous or deceitful...more Chris, less Cooper, I say.
What planet has Tweety been living on?
His question is framed such that it implies the Republicans were, at one time, morally superior to the Democrats.
Republicans are still superior to democrats, at least in their head they think they are.
where their heads are, it doesn't mean much,
I almost went off the beaten path with the word "head" but decided to be lady like and not go there. :)
I'm no lady, so I did.
;)
Thank You!
Who annointed Matthews as the Pope's representative in Washington?
I might have but I don't remember for sure.
"Religion is probably, after sex, the second oldest resource which
human beings have available to them for blowing their minds."
-Susan Sontag (1933)
But sex is more fun!
I agree. I don't remember anything about religion that was as mind blowing as sex. Religion tells you not to have sex so it must be jealous of sex.
Then how come people scream OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD then?
;)
Because they are hoping that's what heaven is about. That super duper feeling every day all day forever.
afterward.
so damn all you heathens
Susan Sontag said that the year she was born? What a clever clever clever baby!
;)
Yep, Susan shot right out of the womb knowing some clever stuff. Imagine what she must have said when she celebrated her first birthday.
He was asked if his party was morally superior to the Democratic Party. He said that Republicans as human beings are not superior. He still didn't say whether his party is morally superior.
the house negro who assisted bush in stealing 2004
The man personally rigged an election. Where's the investigation? Where's the prosecution? Where's the hard time for this crook?
gosh I just had this orgasmic thought of a petition to the justice department........
Most people are right handed, the word "right" makes them think they are dominant, stronger, and infallible. I remember a time people rarely used the sides of an aisle to describe republicans. I wish we'd stop calling them "right" as they are not those positive things you associate with that word. Calling them "right" is weak and helps their rotten egos get an undeserved boost.
The double standards they use to divide the country into us and them, as Palin did in calling some of their base "real Americans", must end too now that it is well known their "moral superiority" is a delusion.
We talk about someone being in their 'right mind.'
The heraldic mark for a bastard was the 'bar sinister' - a diagonal to the left; while right-facing objects are 'dexter' - the same root as dexterous/dexterity.
And so on ...
Going to the left, you're a bastard...and going to the right means you're a serial killer?
;)
(Even if I was expecting a pun or two based on the word.)
But is Michael Jackson DEAD?
Reportedly, he is dead.
http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/world/michael...
cuz somehow dick cheney keeps on ticking
I'm actually paying attention to that story and hoping for the best for him. Two big names dying in one day will eat up the news for a long time.
I have it on TMZ..... http://www.tmz.com/?tsp=1
but yet to hear it from anyone credible, as if there is such a thing anymore.
You know I love ya like the mother I had committed against her will, but I need a valid news source. Again, if any exist anymore.
And I liked Michael Jackson, at least in the 80s when he was still black.
even during their disco period
look, the guy went into cardiac arrest
years of self abuse to his body has taken its toll
not only has he abused himself with plastic surgery (some doctors are evil) but he definitely has an eating disorder
he is done...whether the major news media is reporting it or not
today...britain and france mourn...the only two countries who still seemed to like him
isnt it nice how god works? every time news gets really shitty, someone dies to take our minds off our own probs
although i did cry when i heard about farrah fawcett....too young
supposed to be have a comeback concert in the UK.
The man was a wonderful entertainer, but had so many obvious problems going on with him and nobody seemed to have the balls to say anything or try to help him. So he spiraled. But it's not my place to judge, so I choose to remember him the way I like, when he was in The Wiz and Thriller and his wonderful music, singing and dancing.
I'm the same age as Michael and remember the young Michael with real affection. He was a supernaturally gifted young performer."I Want You Back" is one for the ages. What a drag.
Huff Post has it on their home page.
I just heard the LA Times has said he's in a coma. Leaving his personal life aside the guy can dance and sing. Back during his Thriller days, I thought he was great.
... is not confirming the TMZ report.
The LA Times is now reporting that he has died.
never doubt me
i also knew that sanford was off on an affair, man has landed on the moon...and there was no shooter on the grassy knoll
You were right about all those commie pinkos in Hollywood too!
The teevee is saying he is an a coma. I had one of his albums, not a big fan though. I liked his moon dance.
Update: Now they confirm he died. Rip to Farrah too, I loved her poster.
like to convey the notion that only their platform reflects the "proper" moral stance and only they possess "true" values and strong convictions.Their latest spin in the face of these scandals is to ask if they should "abandon" their beliefs because of the failures of a few individuals.Well,no.You should not.Just don't force them down everyone else's throats in a crass display designed to garner votes.
Just because Liberals don't wear their convictions-religious or otherwise-on their sleeves doesn't mean they don't posses them.
How do you deal with infidelity?
First deal with the fact that people need sex.
Chris Matthews wasn't called any names by the OP. That's a new one, now let's see how long it takes for my comment to get deleted.
...would it be deleted?
Do you want it to be deleted?
Are you often deleted?
Do you post in the hopes of being deleted?
I had deletion once. I drank a warm glass of salty water and it cleared right up.
Nope, I don't post hoping to be deleted, but I do however disagree with the posts sometimes and I hope that my comments have some value, even if they do not reflect the opinion of the posters. Dont you?
your comments are written in a way that does not violate the commenting policy.
All I did was disagree and yes, called the poster about what I saw as unfair coverage. But to broad the discussion, should the same policy be applied to both posts and comments alike, to stablish fairness and balance? (which I believe not only this blog, but progressive blogs in general are about? Or would you rather have Fox News type coverage and comments?)
Nothing could get me to watch that. Too much craziness in one place.
--answer the fucking question! They (Rs) think we're as dense as they themselves.
Exactly. Why would ANYone on TV give Blackwell airtime? His face convicts any host who offers him refuge, as an accessory.
Especially Chris Matthews. My mind is closed where he is concerned. He has no honorable place on a progressive blog, column or TV show, except to hold up as an example of what craven journalists look like. The man is smegma.
It isn't up to me to tell C&R what to post, and other progressive sites are far more likely to tick me off than this one -- but it's important to point out that Matthews is part of the problem; not part of the solution. We shouldn't ever forget that.
If you dislike what I've said; I can accept that. But just ask yourself: What was Ken Blackwell doing on Matthews' show in the first place? Really?
sc
I laugh, and I laugh again.
What a knee-jerk (emphasis on jerk) right-wing partisan he is. I can't believe that a black man would so embrace the party of intolerance for those just like him. His embarrassing vote tally in the last election for governor here in Ohio (the lowest ever for a major-party candidate) indicates the "respect" he garners with his half-assed non-opinions.
Yuck!
01:20 - Blackwell: We are a party that takes a (sic) reasonable and reasoned positions and we hold our leaders to those standards.
01:38 - Blackwell: You're going to have fall out; we're not a perfect party.
01:41 - Blackwell: But we must believe our leaders are perfectable.
WTF? My head is spinning.
Here's a slogan for 2012. "The New GOP: Reasonable Perfection - What You Need."
