Boehner Still Touting Spending Freeze and Republican Alternatives on Budget Nonsense

John Boehner thinks America has forgotten about the last eight years if we're supposed to believe that he cares one iota about fiscal responsibility. On Face the Nation John Boehner continues to hammer on their disasterous request for a spending freeze.
Even David Brooks called this out for what it is, insanity.
CongressMatters has more here on another of Boehner's B.S. on the Republican having any plans for job creation: "Twice as Many Jobs at Half the Cost" - Mythbusting Republican Spin.
But, just for the record, they didn't really offer anything. And there is absolutely no credible data to support that claim a republican alternative would have created twice as many jobs at half the cost. Just like there was never $30 million for any Pelosi's mouse. Just like the stimulus bill doesn't have provisions designed to kill bible study programs.
It's a wonder Boehner, Cantor and the rest of the GOP leadership doesn't have whiplash from the constant spinning.

Actually I do think the Republicans have been asking some good questions about the stimulus package. The massive contradiction is that they had not asked any of these same questions when the Bush administration was out of control. In fact they rubber stamped every friggin legislation that the Bush administration put forth.
I keep wondering why Cramer's idea put forth on his program Mad Money that banks should reduce all interest rates down to 4% across the board. So that those who consciously unconsciously made economic mistakes are not the only people to have access to lower interest rates. This makes sense to me

on budget. have a deficit from less money coming in or from spending more, same exact effect on deficit. so lowering taxes might have some good out come, in regard to deficit, no difference, so they shouldn't bring up deficits when arguing about taxes.

The fact is...there is NO trickle down effect on tax cuts at the upper level.
That whole premise has now been disproven THREE TIMES.
If you cut taxes on middle and lower incomes (which is what the Obama plan does), what is know as a demand side tax cut, you put money into the hands of people that will actually spend it on goods and services...like food, clothes, appliances,...etc. NOT BMWs and dinner at La Cirque...which doesn't happen as frequently as middle class trips to Burger King. Now...here is the modern day rub. In the PAST, before GOP policies decimated our manufacturing base...those middle class dollars stayed in the U.S. and got paid to American workers...who also spent them...the well known...multiplier effect. Today, those dollars get shipped overseas. Which is why Obama is seeking investments in new technology and industries.
So, under demand based deficit spending, you will increase deficits in the short term, but grow out of them as the economy expands. What is NOT discussed today, is that 30 years of conservative policy and tax cuts...has createed...structural deficits. That is, spending...mostly in military and healthcare...which both for political and cost reasons there is no political will to address. Again, President Obama wants to address it, but the fact is that everyone is demagoguing the issue on both sides.
It depends on the economic environment. You wouldn't want a supply side tax cut in a demand shock situation like we have now. Supply and Demand have to meet at equilibrium (and they will meet at equilibrium eventually, it can be just painful when it does if aggD or aggS has fallen/risen dramatically).
when Reagan initiated supply side the economy was already coming out of the oil embargo induced recession...he was railing against deficits...and by the time he left...his supply side policies had trebled them.
The entire economy of the Unites States has...for the last 30 years...been based on some half assed bell curve and economic theory written on the back of a napkin by a half wit economist.
Carter provided supply side stimulus in the form of removing price controls on oil during the embargo, that's supply side economics that worked. Don't discount an economic tool based on political nonsense.

Your own definition says nothing about price controls but: adjusting income tax and capital gains tax rates, and reducing regulations (perhaps price controls could fall here).

What Hoover did between 1929 and 1933 turned a recession into a depression. And the consequence of that was 30 some years of liberal/Keynesian economics and the Republicans were locked out of governing.

A cursory review of history will indicate that the rethuglican party has never had a successful economic plan. Name one sustainable period that they set forth. Reaganomics just ended in the greatest crash since the Hoover crash. The rethugs have no plan and that is whey they do not put one forward. They hate government and wish to destroy it. They still believe in free market systems which even the founder, Milton Freidman, signed off of before his death in an interview with the Financial Times in 2003.
