White House budget director Peter Orszag expects health care reform bills by August. Orszag says some are trying to slow down the process in an attempt to kill it. "The typical Washington bureaucratic game of — ‘if you don’t have a better alternative, just delay in the hope that that kills something’ is partly what’s playing out here," said Orszag.

Think Progress noted that GOP consultant Alex Castellanos suggested "if we slow this sausage-making process down, we can defeat it."

and proof the Thugs have no interest in moving the country forward, even though Public Option sucks. Thugs want less than, worse than public option, with their BFFs in the health insurance industry being able to maintain that Bernie Madoff style of living, a style of which they have become accustomed.
Personally, I'd like to see them having to grow accustomed to Madoff's current lifestyle.

I think a little praise is due Orszag for this little truth bomb.

Good on him

Ms Nancy said she has been working on health care for 30 yrs , what she really said was health care has been working for her for 30 yrs . I want what she has and if not then all gov. critters should have what i have , nothing .

Im pissed off , been up since 3 am , going back to bed will try and wake up my rosy self , morning all .

every time you throw a little mud , you lose a little ground .

What Nancy meant by that is she has been working for the insurance lobby for 30 years. Her track record bears that out. Why do you think she could come on this site and say, in all seriousness, that the public option doesn't even kick in until 2013. Hmm, what I should have asked during that live chat was, specifically what parts of the Healthcare Reform Bill kick in immediately. My guess it would be the part of the legislation requiring us to buy insurance NOW. Oh, we'll get our public option eventually, but the masters in the insurance industry ALWAYS get theirs first.

Two things Republicans never do is (1) offer their own viable solutions and (2) avoid confronting reality head-on, and honestly. As for (2), since the word "rationing" is one of their scare tactics, it's about time someone took the topic on in a straighforward, mature, pragmatic manner. This is a must-read:

Clarifying my (2): Republicans almost ALWAYS avoid confronting reality...

You only have to meet two criteria. 1. Tell the American people all of the details which in turn means providing lawmakers with the time to review all details of an already 1,000 page bill while providing total transparency. But more importantly, 2. What ever the final outcome of the bill, make it law, that every member of Congress give up their current plan and make it mandatory for them to accept what their providing to the rest of the country. If it’s good enough for us, then it should be good enough for them. Without that clause, we will end up with an inferior system of service. If what congress has now is good enough for them, then it should be just fine for all of us.

It is a shame that some Americans are so gullible, to the outlandish propaganda and lies spat in the newspapers, television and radio about Obama’s health care agenda. They have demonized the British, Canadian and other worthy plans. Hidden under a sub-rosa undercover, these radical entities are determined to keep the special interest organizations in absolute power. Comprising of the money-draining profitable insurance companies and their rich stockholders. They don't want any changes to the broken system of medical care, because it will hurt the status quo. I was born in England, in the county of Sussex and until the inception of the European Union and the European Parliament dictating to Britain. That they must accept millions of foreign workers, the nations medical system was exemplary. I never had to wonder if I would have to file bankruptcy, to pay my medical bills, or listen to the incessant ring of debt collectors on the phone.

On several occasions I ended up in the cottage hospital and their was never a cost applied to it, never a ream of paperwork. No doctor, no hospital or specialist ask me for my Social Security number, drivers license or if I was covered by a predatory for-profit insurer. Today the British Isles is being submerged under a barrage of legal and illegal immigrants, who have never paid into the system, have caused some rationing. Prior to the importation of foreign labor my trips to doctor, to hospital, the eye or a dentist was paid from my taxation. Unless we pass a national health care agenda, Americans will never know what it's like to breeze through their lives, without worrying about paying for health care? Tell your Senators and Congressman you want an alternative to the--GET RICH-- insurance companies, before a Universal health care is killed. 202-224-312 REMEMBER THE INVESTORS AND STOCKHOLDERS DON'T WANT THEIR PIECE OF THE $$$TRILLION$$$ DOLLAR PIE DISTURBED. EVEN SOME POLITICIANS HAVE THEIR DIRTY FINGERS IN THE PIE?
AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO THE PRIVATE HEALTH CARE, A GOVERNMENT SINGLE PAYER SYSTEM WILL ASSIST IN REVITALIZING THE WILTING US ECONOMY.

"Alex Castellanos suggested "if we slow this sausage-making process down, we can defeat it"

WTF??? Is that what our ruling elite and their minions in the media consider what may be potentially the single most important piece of legislation to affect working Americans since Social Security?? A sausage-making process??? See, it's all about clever soundbites and spin to these fucking Beltway sociopaths. To them, it's all a game; our side has to win, win, win. The fact that the lives of millions of working Americans will be directly affected by the Healthcare reform legislation doesn't even begin to compute with these freaks. Working and middle-class Americans may as well be some exotic form of lower animal life to these people.

There is NO reason to rush this except the single-payer plan is gaining momentum. Remember what the division is: Real People vs. Corporations. Also remember that the DEM vs. GOP is not at issue here. The corporations have bribed both sides, perhaps equally. If we do not get single-payer, then nothing else will do. And single-payer should begin IMMEDIATELY. Or sign up for the sacrifice list. You know, those who are volunteering to die while waiting for their coverage to begin.

President Obama has some very sharp people working with him and Peter Orszag is one of them. Let's get it done, save our middle class and country. Time for change.

This is not my father's America

Since March I have 92.00 Dollars taken out of my social security per month for medicare. My sister in Belgium, pays that amount every 3 months for a private room.

We are not in great shape as we are force on top to buy private insurance for pharmaceutical product, if you do not you are penalize.

The republicans with the pharma and medical for profits has lied to us for years.

Nixon start privatization of the medical insurance, and the war on Drugs.
He probably created the 2 worst programs that would have been better left alone.

Illigal Drugs would never have be so expensive as it was proven that pot was not dangerous, therefore no one would be rich by those drugs. The south America cartels would never have profit of their product, our jail would have less people in jail which would demand less taxes.
Medical insurances would be cheaper because they would not be for profit and could not advertize their product.

Lets hope this time will work.
