Liz Cheney suggests Cheney presidential ticket in 2012

Former Vice President Dick Cheney chose not to run for president in 2008 but his daughter suggested that he might be a good candidate in 2012. Appearing on Fox News Sunday, Liz Cheney dropped the former vice president's name as the panel was discussing President Barack Obama's decision to respect the Japanese Emperor by bowing during a formal greeting.
Fox News felt compelled to cover Obama bow to Japanese Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko after conservative blogs attacked the president. "Sarah Palin would not have bowed to the Emperor of Japan. She wouldn't have even curtsied to him," said Bill Kristol.
But for Liz Cheney, Palin wasn't the only answer to replacing a president that would dare to pay respect to a foreign leader. "You can look at the comparison and think Cheney 2012," teased Cheney. It wasn't clear if Dick Cheney's daughter was joking but the Fox panel seemed warm to the idea.
"That's all I'm going to say," she said.
Kristol, who has long been an advocate for Sarah Palin, had an even better idea. "Cheney/Palin," he suggested.
"Or Palin/Cheney. Don't be sexist," replied Chris Wallace.

Isn't bowing in Japan basically the same as shaking hands? I mean it's not like Obama came up behing Angela Merkel and started giving her an impromptu (and unwelcome) back massage.
It is the same as shaking hands. Obviously the concepts of respect and politeness are lost on these buffoons. You have to wonder how people like them don't fall down more.
Bowing is only polite. Nothing more is meant from it. I do it all the time in Asia; it comes naturally to me. Shaking hands has only been adopted because Asians want to do business with the West, but it is a bit unnatural and uncomfortable for them.
If you don't bow, Asians watching think you are "uncivilized". Besides Japan is a huge American ally over here. Why not be polite?

I have already seriously considered this. It is far easier said than done. Work visa, job, place to live. It all takes money I don't have and Canada isn't real generous with their work visas these days. We're stuck here with the spawns of satan. It is why I am strongly advocating that they live their fantasy and secede. Seriously. We should encourage that the next time they bring it up. It is our best hope.

That's only because Sarah Palin and other neoconservatives are ignorant nationalists who know nothing about other cultures and are convinced that the United States is entitled to rule and dominate the world instead of being part of the world. The fact that they don't think the President of the United States should show respect to the leader or symbolic leader of another country in a way which is meaningful to that culture shows that they actually have very little if any respect for the rest of the world. Would Sarah Palin even know that bowing in Japan is primarily a gesture of respect rather than of subordination? For that matter, would she even care??? I very much doubt it -- on both counts -- and that's just one of the reasons why I consider the woman to be completely unfit to hold federal office of any kind, even if she were not Bailin'-And-Failin' Palin.

Here, they seem to be allergic to extending common courtesy, which helps us with other countries, but I was also discussing with someone yesterday how wingnuts' refusal to even consider learning another language ("because we don't have to, morans! USA! USA!), bites them in the ass too, and removes certain advantages from their individual lives. I don't get it.
