Syndicate columnist Charles Krauthammer appeared on Fox News Sunday with sharp criticism of President Barack Obama speech to the UN General Assembly. "I think he indulged himself in his speech at the General Assembly, which started out as sort of adolescent utopianism and went downhill. He started out saying things like no nation can dominate another. He said no group of nations ought to be above others," said Krauthammer.

"What do our allies think when they hear that and when they hear -- as we saw in the clip -- Obama denigrating his own country and presenting himself as the man who will redeem America from its wickedness and he said those of you who doubt that the character of America should look at what we -- meaning I -- have done in the last eight months, including joining the human rights council act at the U.N. which is a body which we should take no pride in being on. I thought it was a sorry performance. It did not advance our interest in the least," concluded Krauthammer.

Wow, these are horrible statements, huh? Pfft...
He and the other AE's don't believe in anything remotely like karma, so they don't understand why things like terror may happen here. Well, it's not "because of our freedoms".....

Smug PUKIES, what O-bought-ma did, was 'mea culpa' for the previous mis-administration's predatory, aggressive/regressive assult, invasion, butchery, pillaging. looting, sacking, of a gov. that was at least functioning, more than can be said for the neoNAZIcons in present time, even.

King Geo was supposed to get those GD OIL Leases, but Mr. Failure just got his own private collection of torture tapes, CD's to jack off to.

The rest of the world has to take in these refugees without a country and that is a burden on the rest of the world, they don't like and the UN is cutting out as much 'participation' as possible from the USofBLOODYISRAEL.

King Geo is too stupid and intellectually non-curious to have any idea of the destruction he brought to this country and a good part of the rest of the world.

Remember when he said he sleeps just fine at night? That's how fucking stupid he is.

We didn't get any significant cooperation with the boycott against Iran by being arrogant and demanding with the rest of the world-the Bush 'strategy.' Being polite and respectful as an alternative strategy strikes me as simply being another example of the President's good manners and high intelligence. If it doesn't work, what have we lost? If we end up bombing Iran, some people will give us credit for having tried all reasonable alternatives first, and we will have alienated fewer people. I'm a progressive, and not keen on war, but I really don't want to see that insufferable two bit dictator I'm-a-dinner-jacket with nukes plus missiles.

actually you catch more flies with shit. One of my chores was to clean under the henhouse and reload the fly trap. That is a rectangular box of fly screen with an inverted funnel of flyscreen inside. The flies go for the shit then rise into the cone, end up inside and die. I see so many analogies.

He just wants his country back. The one where his kind dictate "American interest" as dollar diplomacy, Halls of Montezuma to shores of Tripoli, Send in the Marines, eminent domain, White Man's Burden, neo-con, Star Wars, Axis is Evil view of the world. Sorry, you've lost. Get used to disappointment. If W showed us anything, it is that nobody will care about America if we clearly only care about ourselves.

Krauthammer is a terrorist.

He doesn't get that people like him are what Obama keeps apologizing for. And since when is rejecting American exceptionalism a bad thing?

"American Exceptionalism" is the new mantra for the likes of Chuckie, Rush, Glennda et al.

Apparently no society, including the Greeks, the Romans, the Mayans, the Egyptians, the Druids or any other "ancient" society did anything of worth. Nope. Everything that is "exceptional" started in the U.S.A. 230 years ago.

Simply nauseating listening to that creep. Plus he's funny lookin.

proudlyprogressive's picture

Look far enough into Krauthammer and you'll find either a Nazi sympathizer, or a grandpappy in the gestapo. He looks like a Kraut, the worst kind. Sorry no insult meant to real, regular German people.

paddyodeck's picture

My dear American friends, this is what the rest of the world sees when we watch you.
"American Exceptionalism" what piffle, hubris is the most disturbing of vices.
There is a ratio that rings true in most things in life, 20/80.
20% of the people you meet you will judge poorly, why do you as a country have those 20% speaking for you?

There is no need to watch American sitcoms, their news shows have all the laughs!

Druids weren't a society but a religion; they were a religion of the Q Celts.

Diabolus est Deus Inversus

Yes, YS, I get that. But they built bloody Stonehenge. I'm not as smart as you, but from what I have read Stonehenge was quite forward thinking.

My point was that humans did not suddenly, 230 years ago in North America, become innovative. As FOX news and all their minions appear to believe.

ysbaddaden's picture
)O(

Stonehenge was built starting 4500 years ago, so approximately 2500 BCE.

Druids didn't arrive until 45 BCE.

They had no idea what Stonehenge was for, because it was already ancient. That led to legends of a race of giants making it, or the magic of Merlin. This doesn't preclude the possibility that they used it though, but nobody knows in what fashion.

But you're right about American Exceptionalism. It seems for the most part we didn't invent a whole lot of what we take credit for but made more efficient, a reputation taken from us by the Japanese about 50 years ago.

Diabolus est Deus Inversus

Again, I'm not as smart as you, but I was wondering if you would mind shagging your ass on out here to Lubbock, cause I have the flu and need someone to run some errands for me. I'm out of soup AND beer.

love that football team fan mentality. Screaming, "We're the best," does not make it so. Right now we look pretty sad and rudderless.

Sorry, Charlie. Obama hasn't been going around the world "denigrading" and "apologizing" for America. He's been going around the world "denigrading" and "apologizing" for people like George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Faux News Channel and YOU...none of whom is synonmous with America, but simply a sub-culture of America hating loons who figured out how to play the celebrity game well enough to gain way too much attention, power and influence than they ever should have.

Krauthammer is a hideous human...by hiding behind his gig at the WaPo-wing of Rupe's NewsCorp monopoly and his permanent presence on Cluster-Fox it's clear a little of the joint KoolAide has rubbed him (finally) to the bone... Think tanks won't have him... reputable 'news' organizations won't have him... campaigns won't have him.. yet he continues to spew this bile of racism everywhere just like his Cluster-Fox brethren..

It's truly abysmal that some folks in the US still stoop to this level of trivial debasement but when you got nothing left, I guess that's the only answer... Charlie is simply part of a sub-culture of America-hating loons that for some reason seem to get their faces plastered all over the Cluster-Fox propaganda machine...

The world already doesn't think much of the US, Obama's speech actually helped US interests. If he'd gone and continued to play at being the leader of everything it would have driven the final nail into what is left of US support and buried it outright.

That's what they call Realpolitik.

However, the problem is Realpolitik is generally shaped by past conflicts: WWI, the Munich Syndrome, WWII, the Cold War, the Vietnam Syndrome etc, not on present circumstances, which can lead to specious historical analogies with often tragic consequences.

Maybe it was william safire who first did the former epithet.

this kind of talk is such obvious bullshit -- even to those barely tuned in -- that chuck's only impact will be on that ignorant 28%. the neocons are in full panic having lost two of their daddy figures in the past week; and polling showing that progressive policies are popular -- and live in terror that should the democrats finally figure out a way to sell their message and see it pass -- with successful foreign and domestic policies, the republicans will go extinct before the icebergs.

Kananaskis's picture

Why doesn't Krauthammer just come out and say it - he's an admirer of the old Soviet Union and Nazi Germany, among a host of other belligerent terror regimes that ruled by force. But he can take solace that Obama's words are just that. Chuck still has Gitmo, Bagram, a shit load of black sites and two dismal military occupations as his Viagra.

President Obama was admonishing the Republicans. Krathhammer can't tell the difference and wouldn't admit it if he could understand. KrathHammer is a stupid oportunist.

"By words the mind is winged." - Aristophanes

During the Chimpy years, there was indeed much to apologize for. Krauthammer speaks to a dwindling, idiotic base. I can't believe there was a time when the conservatives were supposed to be the adults. They all sound like petulant, spoiled children. Time for them to sit in the corner for a few decades.

you'd see that people around the world LOVE Obama, including the leaders.

Why wouldn't they? Obama has done nearly as much to improve the reputation of America in his first 8 months as Bush did to destroy it over 8 long years.

People abroad cannot believe that Obama was elected. But what they can't believe even more is that so many people are protesting his policies, particularly healthcare.

Republicans are masters of the disingenuous misunderstanding - [Re: like children/ but more skilled]

Krathhammer would rather have his flock believe he doesn't understand the wise things President Obama does, than for them to see the truth about Republicans - Swindlers. The rest are in on the disingenuous misunderstanding.

Krathhammer is full of it - a repigliscum agent.

Why is it that everyone who hosts a talk show (Gordon Peterson, Chris Wallace, et al) always defers to Krauthammer as if he has the definitive explanation for all things?
