Republican presidential candidate Jon Huntsman won't be puckering up for Donald Trump anytime soon.

Huntsman, along with Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX), has declined to take part in a Newsmax debate moderated by Trump later this month. Appearing on NBC Monday, the notorious birther slammed Huntsman as someone who wasn't going to win the nomination anyway.

Later on Monday, Fox News host Martha MacCallum gave the GOP hopeful a chance to respond.

"I'm not going to kiss his ring, and I'm not going to kiss any other part of his anatomy," Huntsman explained. "This is exactly what is wrong with politics. It is show business over substance. If he had any courage at all, he would be running for president of the United States of America as opposed to manipulating the process from the outside."

"The presidency of the United State of America is more important than these silly game shows and reality shows."

An obviously-bitter Trump had also assailed Huntsman in an interview with NBC's Chuck Todd Monday.

"By the way, Mr. Huntsman called my office a number of times trying to set up a meeting," the billionaire claimed. "I didn't have a meeting with him and then he went on the debate and said, 'I didn't meet with Mr. Trump like everybody else in the room.' So, you know, I'm sure he'll tell the truth about that because he's a Mormon."

In a statement to Think Progress, Huntsman spokesman Tim Miller didn't address the religious attack, but did dismiss the meeting claim as something that had been "litigated in the press before."

"You’ll be surprised to find out that it's Mr. Trump who is not telling the truth," Miller said. "We never requested a meeting. We are focused on issues that matter not presidential apprentice."

Huntsman is the smartest by far in this circus. I absolutely believe him over trump. Trump was the one who said he was finding out all kinds of stuff about Obama during the mystical birth certificate search. As soon as the birth certificate was shown by the president, that was the last we heard about Trump's finds.

Does he think we are all stupid enough to buy his bs?

Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.

You gotta admit, that's not a very high bar to jump. Smarter than the average teabagger, to be sure, but still a wingnut in the end.

"Whatever your particular problem is, I promise you, the Republicans are not the least bit interested in solving it. They are interested in two things, and two things only: making you afraid of it, and telling you who's to blame for it."

If you want to watch somebody rip these guys apart (Trump, Newtoon Leroy, Romney, Bachmann, Cain) watch Tweety (Hardball).

wouldn't have stashed him over in China for all those years, keeping him out of the media. Slick move by Obama.

"Better." It's what we should ask of ourselves and of our leaders.

.

Not sure who's playing who in that little game. Huntsman is a BushCo employee and was a convenient way to keep the insider intel flowing, (as if SecDef Gates wasn't enough).

Still, it's hard to believe Donny could get any slimier than he already was. Such a little high school game, "Ha ha, I put him on hold before he put me on hold..."

Classy. Just like his properties.

At least a couple of the Republican Presidential Candidates have a set......... If they(The Republicans) can't put somebody up worth voting for, They should stop all the whining, keep their money in their pocket and wait for 2016.....L M A O!!!!!

I heard someone describe Congress as a bunch of prostitutes. That statement is slanderous to all prostitutes and should be stricken from the record.

Huntsman is to smart for the republican party of stupid today. He'll never get the nomination.

I do not agree with a lot of what Huntsman believes but I respect him because he is straight forward. He is smart. Good for him for telling Trump to go fuck himself. If he was nominated he would win the election.

Especially when filthy rich candidates for national office use it to seem like "regular" guys on TV pundit podium.

Gee, Huntsman sure is a genuine guy - har har - he meant he will not kiss Trump's ASS - ha ha ha, On TV!! snicker.

I am getting plenty sick of the diversionary bread and circus of candidates and media - both either so bored with each other or so scared to discuss the real, fundamentally important issues and hard decisions that need leadership.

of these "candidates" a pass, I'd like to point out that "Trump's ring" is not part of his anatomy. The finger the ring is on would qualify but not the ring.

Yep....I know I'm reaching here, but I don't care. :)

So? Who's ring IS he gonna kiss? I'll bet it's a cockring.

Vote GOP and move forward to the 18th Century.

Well john if you ever decide to kiss his ass you better be ready to pry Gingrich from it.
He is a permanent fixture there.

Huntsman starts by saying the only reason he missed the Donald's debate was because of a scheduling conflict and that he looked forward to the next one.. it was only after the interviewer brought up a cut by the Donald that Huntsman said what he did.. what's impressive about that?.
