Stephen Colbert would like to hold a massive historic rally to rival Glenn Beck's but he's looking for a sign from God first.

Beck held his "Restoring Honor" rally at the end of August. Colbert noted Tuesday that a scientific estimate put the crowd size at about 87,000.

But Beck has said that the crowd numbered at least 500,000 and Rep. Michele Bachmann said it couldn't be less one million.

Colbert prompted those in his audience that agreed that the crowd must have been at least a million to hold up their hands.

"Who agrees with me?" asked Colbert. "Okay, so that's one, two, three, 57,000 people agree with me."

The Comedy Central host pointed out that only a miracle could make 87,000 people into a million people. "The secret is God," said Colbert.

And the number of people was just one of the miracles at the "Restoring Honor" rally. Beck found Divine Providence in a flock of geese that flew in formation over the crowd.

"I think it was God's flyover," Beck told his Fox News viewers the week following the event.

Thousands have also joined a movement on the internet calling for Colbert to host his own rally. Reddit users have called the movement "Restoring Truthiness." Over 37,000 have become members of a group supporting the idea on Facebook.

But how could 37,000 multiply into millions without the help of God? Colbert needed a sign.

"So to get a good gander on this gathering, I would need my own God geese to tell me to hold a rally," he said.

Just then, a real live prophetic goose, "Geese Witherspoon," appeared on Colbert's set. But the goose offered no indication that Colbert should hold his own rally and a bottle of Grey Goose vodka just told him to "stay home and drink all day."

This absolutely needs to get done. I haven't attended too many rallies, but this one I'd show up for.

And to be truly perfect satire...MSNBC needs to promote the hell out of it, and they shouldn't care that this is a Comedy Central thing.

Nowwhat's picture

Make it as magically spiritual as possible, Play up the crowd no matter the size, actually smaller the better??? Use mirrors and stuff.

misspelled sign! ;)
