President Bill Clinton told NBC's David Gregory that the vast, right-wing conspiracy that once targeted him is now focusing on President Barack Obama. "You bet. Sure it is. It's not as strong as it was because America has changed demographically but it's a virulent as it was," he said.

Clinton being such a slimeball politician, people still love this guy. Conspiracy? IF he could keep his pecker in his pants and not lie about it, there would have been nothing for them to attack.

The right went after Clinton hard well before Lewinsky ever got to DC, and long before Doughy Pantload's mama got Linda Tripp to engage in illegal taping.

Hillarycare-gate
Trooper-gate
Travel-gate
Whitewater-gate
Foster-gate

EVERYTHING even to this day, that the Clintons were/are involved in, is always shaded in grey. Slimeball politician is an understatement for Clinton. His best friend is named Bush. That should give everyone a strong hint.

;)

And

Rush, Ann, Sean and Glenn thank you for your daily support.

people in politics. Investigations for 8 years - 75 million of tax payers money spent (with Kent Star -Independent Investigator - HA) and all they got was a lie about a blow job. Not a single person was indicted in Bill Clinton's cabinet. Try looking up how many were indicted under Reagon and little bushey!

We all know it's the Repugs that are crooked. They only hated the fact Clinton was getting it on with a women. Most Repugs are closet homosexuals.

Stop persecuting Bill Clinton on the Court of Public Opinion. Your opinion means sh*t to me you RWCL!

F*ing a consenting adult is not grounds for impeachment. Neither would lying about that be grounds for impeachment. Going after him over arms sales to Turkey? That's a spanking, for sure.

.

:p

Turkey is a NATO member, but the part about their being an ally is questionable. Listen to any of the Seibel Edmonds testimony?

Turkey is our friend like Israel is our friend.

you can't be a NATO member and not be an ally.

Whether you may find their politics/stances questionable is a completely different matter. And it is more of a question of how those questionable stances point towards the fact, that maybe... just maybe we're as bad as our allies.

Americans can't have it both ways when it comes to alliances.

and

Cheating on your wife doesn't justify the "clinton death count" lies and similar disseminated by these horrible shitheads.

into several wars is impeachable and constitutionally illegal.

You left out the phrase "under oath". Every lawyer knows what that means.

LOL.

He is "concerned" you know...

They tried to tie him to a land deal they said was shady but in the end proved to be legit.
After much digging around they decided to expand the investigation from the original Whitewater deal to philandering in order to embarrass him. That he tried to lie about it ws just a bonus for them to latch on to and run with.

They were after him no matter what he did and they were going to get him on something one way or another.

I am not all that enamoured with him either, he pretty much was a right wing President just like all the others the US has had for the last 35 years, but that does not change the fact that the right wing of the US had a hard on to take him out and were going to do anything they could to accomplish this.

... but Mr. Star ended up finding out the Clintons lost money in that deal.

A $30,000.00 land deal too. Pretty big stuff.

"... but Mr. Star ended up finding out the Clintons lost money in that deal."

That's just evidence that they were stealing elsewhere. Absence of a conspiracy is evidence of a conspiracy to Truthers, Birthers, Ron Paulogists, ************ers, LaRouchites, and all other similar conservatives.

the responses to my post prove I'm right. Thank you for being so predictable in your fake outrage fellow posters. What was so great about Clinton that makes normally civil people reach out with anger? He caused/created/extended alot of the shit that is hitting the fan right now and you still all get huffy. Clinton, like Obama, continued or copied many many many Republican ideals, and is still to this day, thought of as some Kennedyesque hero. And these same people call themselves progressives and liberals. Ha!! Clinton tossed liberals under the bus. Clinton is bestest friends with many Rethugs, proving exactly who/what he is. But then again, just like Obama, many people KNOW what Clinton thinks.

And Bill certainly does not need me to defend him. I just think you are wrong. Some of your remarks read as if they could have authored by someone like Bill Kristol.

I do find it very curious that a self-styled 'Concerned Canuck' would be so vehement in 'his' condemnation of a remarkably popular American politician.

I tend to develop my take on political actions from personal experience. For example, my family struggled hard to survive in the 80s as New England watched its manufacturing base disappear into a cloud of Reaganomics. We rebounded very nicely in the 90s, and were able to actually have some savings and investments-which almost survived Dubya's first term. I am now waiting for another recovery.

Your faux outrage is funny as hell!
Face it, just because you don't like him doesn't mean that there wasn't a coordinated and concerted effort to discredit him.

As if everything were based on what you like and dislike!
You positively sound like an American when you post like that.

Concered Canuck pisses me off. Go back to Canuck land, and mind your own damn business.

No offense to Canada, I admire your country greatly, but you can keep "Mr.or Ms. Concerned".

"IF he could keep his pecker in his pants and not lie about it, there would have been nothing for them to attack."

Yes, which is why they've been sunshine and sweetness to Obama. You are so naive.

If he could keep his pecker in his pants there would have been nothing for them to attack?!? Are you f*ing kidding me? In case you haven't noticed facts don't matter to these people. There would have been whitewater, Vince Foster, travelgate, troopergate, and countless other BSgates. And as for the sex thing if Americans weren't such hung up prudes this wouldn't have mattered. It always should have been a private matter of concern only to his family. But no the land of Oprah, the land where most people can't get a decent orgasm on their own let alone with someone else, has to be obsessed with the sex lives of people in the spot light because they are so bored with their own.

George Bush, Dick Cheney and Sarah Palin thank you for your concern. Remember, it's all Clinton's fault. Both of them. And maybe Chelsea too.

ConcernedCanuck!? I don't think so.

Concern troll is more like it.

Yo, YSB, how about we ignore this commenter too?

A positive police state agenda which Clinton escalated, Bush accommodated, and Obama simply continues.

Good old Republican Lite Bill Clinton lets progressives shake their heads as Bill says that Olympia Snowe is his kind of "Democrat". Bring on that wonderful trigger, Olympia. The Democratic Party, owned by the same unregulated capitalists that own the entire GOP, are destroying the middle class. Oh well, just dump on the public option and watch the Dems go down in 2010.

before someone mentioned that. The Snowe trigger??? The irony of all the right wing attacks on Clinton and Obama is that neither one is a liberal. Clinton's endorsement of Snowe's phony trigger proposal, which everyone knows will never kick in, is the latest proof.

Neo-Liberals. Not Liberals. Not Progressives. Neo-Liberals. The Democratic Party's answer to the RethugliKKKlan Party's shift to the fascist (Corporatist State) extreme Reichwing. You know, where all the deep pockets for campaign funds are to be found.

I also seem to recall Clinton, while President, being referred to as our first black Republican President. Which makes Obama our second one, correct?

When the Oligarchs have stolen the last crumbs possible they can rest assured that their escape route is secure.

People will still defend them and call them the greatest thing since sliced bread.

The Real Right Wing Conspiracy:

The CRFB Sees Locusts, Plagues And Lots And Lots Of Budget "Impossibilities" In America's Future

Zero Master here

In essence, the very future of the American system is at stake. And somehow nobody in the administration is willing to do anything to prevent what will be a certain cataclysm absent some miraculous diametric shift in policy. Which of course will never come, as Obama has to be very worried about his sliding popularity and upcoming mid-term elections, while the oligarchy of Wall Street knows too well it has at best 2 years to collect on bonuses, and option incentives for massively mispriced underlying stocks, before everything eventually comes crashing down. And when it does, everyone will take off in their Textron made jets (which will by then likely be a Goldman LBOed company, purchased once the Conviction Buy becomes a Conviction Sell, and Goldman stealthily purchases all the stock), to live happily ever after on some quiet Pacific Island, far from the pitchfork armed crowd of what was formerly the American middle class (as all boats will have been purchased by Optiver's market manipulating liquidity providing multi-quadrillionaires).

The CRFB report here

The Committee For A Responsible Federal Budget Project consists of heavy hitters telling unvarnished truth. Paul Volcker is one of them. Not likely to be very popular.

Back when he was in office, the right wing conspiracy was underground. now it's broadcast 24/7,... plus, he was a white southern gentlemen, now we have a black man in office,... they won't stop until they see Obama crucified.

exposed Osama bin Ladin and went after him.

Bush and the republicans went after Americans.

Clinton played closet Conservative throughout his Presidency, acquiescing to those rotten bastards who never let up trying to fuck him over.

Is it a conspiracy when everyone in a stadium boos the opposing team?

Granted it may seem like a concerted effort, but there isn't a controlling shadowy hand directing it. Everyone on the right knows what to do: Do what ever you can to de-legitimize Obama.

There is a big difference between a shared objective and a conspiracy.

Granted the effect is much the same as if there were a conspiracy, but now you just sound like a paranoid loon for mentioning it.

There was a coordinated effort in the Congress and RNC to get Clinton no matter what, that is what makes it a conspiracy.

he was a slimeball that was popular and they were jealous.

... is completely beside the point.

Clinton is right when he talks about this, and only a total fool would dismiss it and pretend it has no meaning.
It is the crux of why the US moves farther to the right every year.

Besides I still think it reflects my stadium analogy. Repubs in congress didn't need to be directed to go after Clinton over any opportunity, real or imagined, any more than the home crowd needs to be told to boo the opposition.

... and discuss what could be done to together. And that alone makes it a conspiracy.

That it involved Republican controlled media outlets, the RNC, a large number of PAC's and right wing Republican support and religious groups all working together in a coordinated manner, with the media outlets receiving direction from the RNC and Congressional Republicans makes it a vast conspiracy.

)O(

You've forgotten collusion.

And conspiracies only require two or more people involved, no definition says there's a controlling shadowy hand

Actually that sounds more like the invisible hand of the marketplace.

A group of people behaving the same way to achieve the same goal doesn't necessarily imply collusion. A group of people crossing the same street, in the same direction to go to work in the same building aren't colluding, nor involved in a conspiracy.

To be clear, I'm not saying there wasn't an all out effort by the right-wing to de-legitimize Clinton, and now even more offensively, Obama. You'd have to be blind not to see it. I'm just quibbling about the name applied to the dynamic that its stemming from.

)O(

People crossing the street at the same time gives no evidence of any kind of agreement, or that they even know each other.

But if it's the middle of the night, the street is virtually empty, and a group was crossing the street in a furtive manner...

And once you get the legal machinery working, especially on the taxpayer's dime, for essentially charges that the one raising them knows is trumped up, you are talking an illegality.

)O(

Bad analogy. Booing is not illegal.

But persecution passing for prosecution, or opening cases on false pretexts are two of many forms of the republican Congress abusing their power then.

And the abuse of power is also considered possibly criminal.

It's ironic that was one of the things they were accusing Clenis of doing.

Congress is hardly vast. And for the rest, attempting to de-legitimize your political opponent by loudly decrying everything they do, is pretty much the same as booing. The legality or illegality of anyone's actions doesn't necessarily impact the validity of the analogy. Just because there is a difference between two things doesn't automatically invalidate any comparisons between the two things.

The definition of a conspiracy means:

First: That two or more persons, in some way or manner, came to a mutual understanding to try to accomplish a common and unlawful plan, as charged in the indictment;

Second: That the person willfully became a member of such conspiracy;

Third: That one of the conspirators during the existence of the conspiracy knowingly committed at least one of the methods (or 'overt acts') described in the indictment; and

Fourth: That such 'overt act' was knowingly committed at or about the time alleged in an effort to carry out or accomplish some object of the conspiracy.

when you say it's an unlawful plan.

But conspiracies can be legal, as well. If you and I discuss going to the store, or throwing someone a surprise party, those are conspiracies.

Remember those Monday Morning Meetings the Thugs and media types had during the CheneyBushCo Reign of Terror? Where they'd discuss talking points and get everyone on the same page? That was conspiracy (also possibly criminal, since it involved the govt participating in domestic propaganda).

I'll bet there are meetings at FOX 'News' that discuss the same. Not criminal, but a conspiracy, nonetheless.

)O(

I would call that an agreement. Seeing what toppings everyone wants on a pizza no one would ever call a conspiracy

Unless they really really hate anchovies.

)O(

If 51% of Congress was involved that would be unusually vast, and then count in their numerous pundits, and cable networks, and print media acting essentially as their propaganda tools, and people such as Richard Mellon Scaife, Roger Ailes and Rupert Murdoch behind much of it, then yes I would consider vast an apropos description.

The point I have been making as well.

If you look. But I think it is about to backfire on them.
They have lied and cried wolf so many times no one believes them any more. Well almost no one, the right wing nut balls still go fetch for them. But they to the ones that aren't totally brain dead are starting to see just what a terrible waste being a republican really is!
republicanism is a mental illness! If you can have one commited today!

You keep saying it is a mental illness.

It isn't, the multi-quadrillionaires know exactly they are doing.

It is the little guys that are taken in by their propaganda that don't know what they are doing.

Man, it's both strange and sad to remember his eight years of relative peace and prosperity -- followed by the most ruinous two terms in American history. The terrible unchecked reign of the Smirking Frat Boy himself, Georgie Junior.

BID

On edit: No, Clinton wasn't perfect. But he and Democrats/liberals/progressives in general are light years better than Repugs/regressives/CON-servatives. Put that in your "concern" pipe and smoke it.

You forgot to mention the fact that Clinton handed over a record budget surplus which after eight years became a record deficit.

But this hate he has been shown by supposed liberals is not deserved at all. Clinton did a lot of good and he still does. I always winch when people compare him to Bush Sr. or worse yet Bush Jr. Clinton was attacked from any and all angles By GOPs and Blue dogs. That he got anything done under the hate that was thrown at him is amazing that he in fact had us back on a path to restoring the middle class and such was incredible. I can't help but think if Bush Jr. had not of basically canned and reversed anything "Bill Clinton" Clinton would be praised as one of the greatest presidents.

)O(

Let's not forget that the media CONTROLS the message, and has effectively twisted the phrases "conspiracy" and "conspiracy theory" from meaning "a secret scheming or planning together to do something treacherous or evil" as per the dictionary, to meaning "a paranoid excuse to blame honest, God-fearing servants of the people for your own failings" .
That's my conspiracy theory and I'm sticking to it.

And if the phrase 'conspiracy theory' is accompanied by a dismissive wave of the hand, no further discussion is warranted.

)O(

And they've changed it also to mean the belief that there are space aliens from the planet Koosebain who landed at Roswell, were on the grassy knoll directing the Kennedy assassination, so they can jump into the black spaceships and take away all our guns and wimmin, to take them back to FEMA camps, and put them into their own Lebensborn project.

And when you ask for proof of that belief, the very lack of proof becomes the key evidence.

Of Oklahoma City and Olympic Park.

During Clinton, we had several major acts of right-wing domestic terrorism in the USA. Sadly, I see no signs the reaction to the presidency now is any better than in 1993.

Wow. Bill tells the truth about the right wingers and so many of the comments are going after Bill. Clinton is right. In a professional way, he's telling Gregory about how the GOP is now being run by a bunch of lunatics and their leaders in congress. Clinton is also right about the country being more diverse, which does not bode well for the ever more non-inclusive Republican party.

)O(

The funny thing was even while george will was publicly snickering over Hillary's vast right-wing conspiracy he was blaming a liberal collusion for getting his cable TV show off the air, not the invisible hand of the market-place.

Is this suppose to be some kind of revelation? Insight from on high? It's like, DUHHHHHH.

He looks good generally but if you know what to look for
you know he's messing up with his heart.

Willie lost me forever with his " How Dare You ?" comment to one of the millions of Americans who question the official account of Sept 11th . Clinton is supposed to be a very intelligent man so hes either got his brain up his ass or hes running cover for the Neo Cons and his pal Bush. My think is that anyone with half a brain would have at least a few questions about 911 based on the science alone. He must be with them then .

Clinton gave the "right-wing conspiracy" the greatest gift of all -- a scandal that was guaranteed to appeal to the lowest common denominator. Most people wouldn't understand or care about Whitewater, NATO, or Osama, but they sure understand sex. He ruined his legacy all on his own and has no one to blame but himself. He could have just said "Yep, I porked her -- right in the Oval Office" and that would have been the end of it.
