Clinton defends 'appropriate' NYC trial for 9/11 accused
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told NBC's David Gregory that a trial for the alleged 9/11 mastermind in New York City was "appropriate."
Clinton said New York City residents shouldn't fear the trial of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. "All believe that New York City not only can handle this, but that it is appropriate to go forward in the very area where these people launched this horrific attack against us," Clinton said Sunday.
Not everyone is convinced that a trial so near the 9/11 attack is the best decision. Appearing on CNN Sunday, former mayor Rudy Giuliani said that the trial would put residents at risk.

The talking heads raised a good point this morning.
They said he will say he's guilty. If he pleads guilty, there will be no real trial.
But I don't believe everything this guy says. He'd say anything to get out of US custody. He want's to go meet Allah and the 70 virgins .

(If he had a jury of his "peers"....say 12 Hasan types...he might have a chance)....
But everyone knows this is just a "show" trial. Even the fact that he was tortured won't result in any "evidence" being thrown out.
When he is pronounced guilty, even though the penalty for a federal crime of this magnitude is the death penalty, he should instead be given "life in prison without the possibility of parole" if for no other reason than to deny him his meeting with Allah and the 70 virgins.

ya, all except the show trial part. He may be made example of but that is different unless i don't know my show trials well enough.
I'm real glad the system is starting to get control back from all the wrenches the Bushies tossed in to sabotage everything - especially the Justice Department.
This is an important test of the funtionality of the government after the Bushie era. Count on Cheney the Barbarion to show up this week. He has no heart but apparently he can still know fear.

If this was a GOPer prez in office. And her/his AG was doing this.
They be all for it. Shouting out how brave she/he was for doing it.
How much courage it took.
assholes.
What is your conceptual, continuity?
This trial will serve two ends
1. Confessed criminals will be judged.
2. The crimes of Bush Cheney will be on the record.
This is a brilliant way for the world to see both sides of this grim story in open court! Genius!
I hope you understand my point. We want the past administration to be held accountable. This is a path to that end.
Ya.
Cheney does not recall any of it. It's important to remember that detail in all this.
Cheney is a hostile witness, even to the FBI.

when she started talking about how we were going to "win" in Afghanistan and that we "won't be there forever."
Who Pay Them off?
Where they used as PATSIES?
New Yorkers and we deserve to know!
What are they covering up?

Peace!
Can we finally get a little piece of F*ing closure?
He's a lying partisan hack without a shred of cred. Try 'em all in NYC then put 'em in a Montana prison for life.
We have surrendered our passion for freedom to the acquisition of stuff. We cannot even mount a decent opposition to wars that are destroying what little we have left in our treasury or to resist the oligarchy that has taken over our electoral process.
Really needs to tone it down and stop trying to scare people for political gain.New yorkers deserve much better than that.Surely he's profited enough already from 911 without having to stick his pointy nose into this as well.

Exactly! Montana would be most appropriate!
Have the repulsives given any thought about how stupid they're going to look and what they're going to say when these guys are convicted and sent of a supermax facility and New York City is still standing and New Yorkians are still breathing? How will the Fakes News Channel cover ... umm ... nothing happened?

This New Yorker thinks having them tried here in NY is the best thing to do. And IMO anyone who suggests otherwise is a dick.
