President Barack Obama accused Fox News as operating in a talk radio format. Fox News only strengthened that argument Sunday as they allowed only White House detractors to comment on the situation. Chris Wallace went so far as to suggest the White House was using mob tactics in it's "war against Fox News." Of course, Fox couldn't find any White House defenders to appear on the Sunday talk show.

It's "what some people are calling the administration's Chicago way of doing business," said Wallace referring to a scene from the classic mobster movie "The Untouchables." Wallace's comparison follows other commentary by the right wing echo chamber. The Wall Street Journal's Kimberly Strassel was one of the first:

A White House set on kneecapping its opponents isn't, of course, entirely new. (See: Nixon) What is a little novel is the public and bare-knuckle way in which the Obama team is waging these campaigns against the other side.

Glenn Beck followed the script with a rant about the White House "beatdown" of its enemies the following day.

That's the Chicago way and now we have it in Washington with Rahm Emanuel and Barack Obama.

What was it that Obama promised on the campaign trail? Oh yeah, a "new kind of politics." America didn't think the "new" politics would be even worse than the "old" politics.

Agree with the administration? Fantastic. Dare to stand in the way of "reform"? Uh-oh.

No longer is it a gentlemen's disagreement that can be debated. No, you are going to play ball or get a beatdown.

Media Matters put together some examples of how Fox opinion bleeds into Fox "News."

Ths first shot was fired by the fraud news organization.

http://thinkprogress.org/2009/03/23/fox-vp-op...

Well, he is from Chicago. (a small village in Kenya)
I'm watching Public Enemies right now and Johnny Depp's character totally reminds me of Obama.

I thought he was from Kenya, Indonesia. Confusing.

No,

he was born in Kenya, attended a Muslim terrorist training camp in Indonesia before moving to Chicago where he joined the Weather Underground with Bill Ayers and Al Capone.

.

and

played left wing for teh Black Hawks for 2 seasons ..

boo

.

Some people are saying Chris Wallace is a pale imitation of his father and will never rise beyond what nepotism can provide for him.

Some people are also saying Fox couldn't find news if it was presented to them on "Dick" Cheney's bare ass.

Thanks a lot for a picture that will be trying to exert itself into my consciousness for the rest of the day. Just what I need with my morning coffee... visions of some wrinkled old fish belly white ass.

.

The last thing I wanted was to be alive when the three most powerful people on the planet would be named Bush, Dick and Colin.

-- Kurt Vonnegut, Man Without A Country

...of his dad. Mike Wallace has done some good TV journalism. Chris hasn't, and is unabashedly a tool for the neocons.

on cheney's bare ass, you can bet the "journalists" at fox would've found it. They've been kissing his ass for a decade now.

Some people, as in Glenn Beckerhead!

They get one shill to make a comment, then indirectly quote that shill, and it's "news"? Good grief Charlie Brown

... sound kinda wimpy and whiny.

they are wimpy and whiny.

Kinda like outing a covert CIA agent?
Would that be considered gangster tactics?

Or firing 9 U.S. Attorneys for not prosecuting your enemies?

:p

Abduction and torture of thousands in secret prisons?

Oh wait. That's worse than gangsters.

*

Or how about shooting that guy in the face, and telling him he has to apologize for getting in the way of the gun. After over 24 hrs, so Cheney could sober up.

Redistricting Texas, so GOPers would have more power.

Who else besides Cheney or The Godfather could get a guy to apologize for getting shot in the face?

:p~

The bird shot was a total loss. Cheney got him to pay for that too.

After all, he did get to keep the bird shot.

he even gets to wear some of it permanently.

:p

Holy shit you're right! 200 pieces of it!

"Whittington was injured in the face, neck, and upper torso. Whittington was reported to be in stable condition at Corpus Christi Memorial Hospital and had been moved from intensive care to a "step-down unit" on Monday. Doctors had decided to leave up to 200 pieces of birdshot pellets lodged in his body rather than try to remove them. Each pellet is less than a tenth of an inch (2.5 mm) in diameter. Because of their small size, it is hard to pinpoint the precise location of each pellet with medical imaging."

Each time one of those puppies pops out he has to mail it to Cheney.

p:

Just for shits and giggles, Whittington's apology:
"... on February 17, 2006. At a press conference he said: "My family and I are deeply sorry for everything Vice President Cheney and his family have had to deal with. We hope that he will continue to come to Texas and seek the relaxation that he deserves."

...

wow, hes happier to take a shot in the face than Sasha Grey ...

you can't show off.

That Scooter Libby received some kind of award recently.
Go figure.

the Nobel, so the neo-cons had to make up one of their own

... used The Medal of Freedom.

There are apparently several ways a neocon can "earn one."

and Scooter 'convicted felon' Libby was in attendance. yes, he was the felon watching the man, his former boss, who is an 'unconvicted felon' in my book.

It was at the dinner where cheney won his Keeper of the Flame award. Others there got lesser awards and Scooter was one of the others, as was David Addington. It was a den of crooks and liars.

its "Keeping the Middle East in Flames Award" ...

Does anybody really think that the Republicans could withstand a RICO investigation? (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations) They have long ceased to be a political party and have acted for many years more like a crime syndicate.

Of course, one of the reasons that such an investigation would fail is perhaps the strongest evidence of criminality. The Department of Justice and Bench (all the way up to the SCOTUS) have been packed with Repugnicant hacks who decide cases on political and ideological grounds rather than the letter of the law or precedent. Isn't that -- conspiracy to hobble the legal system -- the very essence of corruption?

That is why you see GOP after their name all the time just like the gangster rappers use initials like that. I have been advocating a RICO investigation for years.

The upside is that you confiscate all the income made from illegal activities, unless the defendant can prove it was not made that way. It is an unconstitutional provision that have been abused for years, so either human rights are advanced or the national debt is paid off.

That would be a win in either way.

n/t

if there were only some 'gentlemen' at Fox to agree with. hah! and another hah! glenn beck and chrissy wallace are such girls whining and lashing out when they don't get their way. glenn cries all the time and chrissy tries mightily to please his father but fails all the time. petulant children they are.

And just to prove Fox is not a totally right channel, next week Chris Wallace will have Rush on the Sunday morning show.

Fox's plan is, black guy, angry, organized crime, ergo Obama is dangerous.

I nearly choked listening to Dana Perino talk about how the world watches the US and how can Obama restrict news organizations when the US goes out saying how important freedom of the press is across the world. The US is "the example to the world." The Bush adminis. was a "great example" of violating treaties against torture while preaching human rights. The pot/kettle comes to mind. But she had her talking points down pat.

Also Wallace did everything he could to push the Chamber and AHIP representatives into further conflict with the current adminis. It was laughable how he kept pressing without any big pushback from them.

Ya think we would have ever heard from Perino again if she wasn't fox "cute"? Nope, me neither. I mean when did she become intelligent about anything?

I was sitting at the island in the kitchen making up little trick or treat gift bags while she was on. At one point I seriously considered throwing one of those little bags at the tv.

.

My ex, bless her sadistic soul, gave me the greatest present ever: little nerf "bricks" that could be tossed at the TV when the urge could no longer be resisted. Alas, she got those too and I haven't seen any since. I'm convinced there's a market for these now, more than ever.

Hey, I have one of those bricks. I should have had it with me this morning in the kitchen. Mine is made of sponge and looks an awful lot like the real thing.

"The Chicago Way"

Let's take it away from them and use it ourselves.

I'm going to watch football this afternoon, the Chicago way.

And all the big corporate sponsors and their K-Street pals everyone is always complaining about.

But it's football.

Go Bears!

If we stop watching football, the terrorists win.

As long as it's not the Packers.

........it's the ONLY thing that's fair and balanced on FOX. Go Falcons!

I did not watch the lying idiots show fox!
I never waste my time on known liars and morons.
republicanism/conservatism is a mental illness.

First it's a waste of time and second you just support the beast.

As David noted, Fox's News is only strengthening Obama's argument by allowing only supporters of Fox to comment on their "news" shows.

Another (and to me the most) telling difference from other news organgizations is the way Fox News commentators are escalating the rhetoric, as any good right-winger does quite naturally on practically any political topic. For all their other faults, I cannot imagine ABC, NBC, CBS or CNN commentators going for the jugular in anything approaching the way Fox's have were they to be similarly criticized by the White House - they would be much more "above the fray" in their responses.

When you think about it, Obama mostly criticized the organization as a whole, yet all the commentators are acting as if they were personally criticized. That is not the behavior of an organization focused mainly on getting the news right, it is the behavior of an organization with a political axe to grind.

)O(

I was reading an article I think just yesterday about this embroglio between Obama and faux, and they listed cw as an example of one of faux's "serious journalist," along with Sheppard Smith.

...thinks of Fox News using their logo...

for the mill.

The revolution won't be televised but streamed:
Collapse

)O(

Isn't he just trying to swipe becky's bat and Untouchables reference?

Now that's serious commentary.

)O(

This appears to be a theme that the faux brass are running through all their shows.

And we're supposed to respect their "reporters?"

You gotta be pretty desperate to steal Glenn Becks shit.

consistenly insults Chicagoans. Maybe it's time for them to open a can of whoopass of Fox.

Fox

wants so desperately for an official restriction on thier operation so they'll be able to distribute boxes of tissue throughout the land as the new martyrs revolt what they want to revolt.

Real change is scary and so is diarrhoea but do we simply stand there?
I don't think so.

)O(

When you go to the Revolution

Bring hip boots

(It would simply be unthinkable to wear the ones from last season).

Every day, as the Foxies try to defend themselves against The White House's observation that they are not legitimate, they say things that prove Obama right. And "gangster" is the nicest thing anyone on Fox has ever said about Obama.

more than the White House needs Faux. Faux represents 20% of political opinion in this nation and is owned by a "Ferighner", who wishes to control public opinion in our nation.
President Obama and the Dems control 2/3 of the branches of our government while the 20%ers control appx 45-55% of the third branch and could conceivably drop to 30%+- depending on 2012-16 elections and retirements on the court.
The 20% are very loyal to Faux Noise but if the Dems shut them out Faux Noise loses legitimacy with at least 50% and perhaps as much as 70%+ of potential viewership.
Faux noise is a Repug Advocacy tool, their wounds are self inflicted, and their whining for legitimacy is painfully absurd and an embarrassment to legitimate journalism.
Obama and the White House are in the Catbird seat and there is no reason to alter their current policy on Faux Noise.

Factor in Raggedy Annie Coulter's fantasy about "all assassins have been communists / leftists / liberals" and you might get the impression that the NeoCons are trying to stir up a violent reaction to the nearly continuous spew of vile from MSM, particularly the Rupert Murdock empire, by some Obama supporter who slips a cog and goes ballistic.

Potentially, such blowback would be used as a trigger for Their orchestrated new civil war, IMHO. Think that a military coup couldn't happen here? - Think again about all the NeoCon stay-behinds (moles) that Darth Cheney has scattered throughout the military and executive branch that Obama has failed to evict.

Their problem is that they consider their opponents to be just as mentally unbalanced as they are. At what point does their incitement cross the boundary into criminal acts, let alone to meet the definition of "domestic terrorism" as defined in the USA Patriot Act(s) and the Military Commissions Act?

%$!K Chris Wallace. The day that sorry little weasel can get that off center little smirk off the side of his face when talking to what he obviously thinks are the stupid and unwashed masses... actually I suppose that IS a pretty good description of those who actually listen to the little rodent but the rest of us need to be left out of his fantasies... is the day I might dredge up an ounce of credence for anything he has to say.

Fricking Limbaugh Lite... that's the best he can ever aspire to. Sad life there, Chrissy.

I don't know why anyone from Chicago would watch FOX or vote Republican at this stage. The whole Untouchables storyline is so weak.
It's designed to appeal to the unimaginative sub-normals that gawk at FOX all day long. The network doesn't have to offer anything substantial it just points it's viewers at broad easily digested fact free story lines crafted for maximum damage.
The whole "News" industry is begging for serious regulation.
Opinions are fine-fill yer boots, but to call this crap "news" is at best false advertising and at worst anti democratic.
You heard me.

Murdoch is an Aussie, lets keep the tired '80s movie references going with some clips from Mad Max ...you know the leather Freaks riding thru the wasteland spewing crazy hatred and senseless mayhem ...sounds like Faux to me ..

oh wait ...here comes the Fox news team now ..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_TL4XZdyo3g&fe...

.

I wish Mike would haul this guy out to the woodshed. He needs a session with the birch switch REAL BAD.

Chris "Fish Lips" Wallace just keeps suckin' it in from Fox - and spewing it back out again disguised as "News"...I think the saying is "Garbage In, Garbage Out..."

Come to think of it,most of these bums look like Dick Tracy bad guys.
They even possess the same over the top "cartoon evil" persona's.

none of the crybaby Cons seem to remember this!!! Somebody please call them on it!!!

Right on Woody.."Fish Lips" describes him to a tee...

Come on out to Chicago and I'll put you up for a week Chris...I'll introduce you to a couple of guys who will show you the ropes... Oh, can't make it?? To bad...all talk - no action..what scum..

Well some people say that Wallace has the genetic make up of a salamander.

...

'and Mike should'a j@cked off that nite ...'

at least thats what 'some may say' ...right Prissie?
...cuts both ways dont it?

... on Fox being shown sitting in front of laptops all the time? That supposed to make them look intelligent or something? CNN does it, too... as if their "air-talent" are something special because they can use a computer? Maybe it's just an embedded commercial for Apple. Seems the networks keep trying to make the teevee screen look more like the internet, and the internet look more like teevee all the time.

..

.

when she talks.

No Mike Wallace I'm sorry, there's no such thing as a post birth abortion 40 years down the road.

Former White House propagandist Tokyo Rose Perrino plays the Chicago wedge card.

North against the South, black against white, straight against gay, immigrant against non immigrant, Christian and secular, Chicago against the rest of America, San Francisco values, latte sipping Volvo driving Americans, see the pattern? All the GOP has is division. If the GOP ran on their true platform of screwing the middle class in favor of the rich and the corporations they would never win so they play the 50 + 1 Karl Rove election strategy of dividing Americans against one an other for their own political gains.

Republicans are scum filth. They are a cancer on America.

How bad would Fox News have to be before the President is allowed to criticize it?

When did the "news organization" at Fox become incapable of distinguishing between critique and a mafia hit?

That response -- all by itself -- PROVES that Fox is a political organization. News organizations don't behave like that.

Chris Wallace and his gang are the gangsters here - they are always a mile behind the curve and ignorant as sin.

Typical paranoid victim rantings from a kook who belongs in a mental ward. Wallace is also typical of his authoritarian old white boy network by simplistically describing any opposition to them in warlike/us-them terms. They want the ability to criticize others with impunity but also the ability to silence their opposition without discussion.

)O(

Did Mike Wallace use to pick up his kid by his ears all the time?

Only that would explain that constant expression.

and some say their house had a LOT of lead paint in it ... at least thats what some people say ..

Actually, the best part of Chris Wallace ran down his old man's leg...

I have neverr dealt or watched such cry babies as I have in FOX News over their lask of business skills with the President of the United States.

I have been a viewer of news and FOX is the biggest whiners I have ever seen in all the years I have been watching.
