Former Vice President Dick Cheney responded to an op-ed by former National Coordinator for Security and Counterterrorism Richard Clarke during questions at the National Press Club Monday. Cheney suggested Clarke didn't warn the Bush administration that terrorists wanted to attack the U.S. Clarke "obviously missed it," said Cheney.
Cheney is, of course, lying. Clarke's January 2001 warning to the incoming administration is fully documented in the 9/11 Commission Report.

Wow, he's smug, even for a brazen liar. Whatever else one says about Richard Clarke, he was a zealot about getting bin Laden in every independent account. Cheney insisted on heading up a counterterrorism task force - that then never met. Rice blew off warnings from Clarke and Sandy Berger. Bush blew off the briefer who delivered the August PDB, "Bin Laden Determined to Attack in U.S," telling him, "All right, you've covered your ass now." It'd be nice to see Cheney offer this BS under oath and cross-examination.
Why do people keep saying this as if being under oath would magically make him tell the truth? He is an evil lying dishonest psychopathic bastard, and will never tell the truth unless it suits his plans. He has no value to any decent person. I have always believed that if anyone in the Bush administration was the Anti-Christ, it was Cheney. This would probably make him proud. And Rove was his impish cypher. Valueless out of context.
savannah43, you've got a point, but most of the Bushies have been very careful about not perjuring themselves - although both Gonzales and Rumsfeld lied to Congress. I have no doubt Cheney would lie if it suited him and he thought he could get away with it (as he usually can in media appearances) but confronted with a paper trail and hard evidence in the context of a trial, that's a different matter. Bush commuted Libby's sentence, but Libby was caught in a lie. The evidence we have already is quite damning. (I'm with you on the anti-christ thing, though.)

On March 13, 2002 there was a presser from the WH (on record) where Bush was asked about bin Laden to which he replied..."I'm not that concerned about him...."
They needed bin Laden for the blame and to hang over everyone's heads. Richard Clarke and whomever it was who resigned from the Bush Adm early on have all voiced that-(AND Wilkerson who remarked in different terms that the Bush Adm. didn't give a s*** about al-Qaeda)it is a known fact that the foray into Iraq was planned LONG BEFORE 9/11....they just needed their 'new Pearl Harbor' to 'convince' the populace to go along with it.
I have never been one for the MIHOP.....but I do think they knew enough (as Paul Thompson says in "9/11: Press For Truth") "to protect their own" - and didn't give a damn about anyone else who would be hurt/killed. You know, the old 'more bang for the buck' thing.

Starting with Dick Cheney running drills on 9-11, preparing for a terrorist attack with planes. Also Cheney telling the Air force to stand down when the real planes were slamming into WTC buildings.

Personally I want him to keep talking, I want all of them to talk as much as possible. Not so much that they can convince me of anything, they cant. I wasn't behind their policies then and I sure don't back them now, I want them to talk so more comes out at least we might get half the truth.
