David Axelrod responded to Dick Cheney's recent criticism of President Obama Sunday on CNN's State of the Union. "[President Bush] has behaved like a statesman," Axelrod told John King.

Axelrod disagreed with Cheney's assertion that Obama's terrorism policies were failing. "I find it supremely ironic, on a day when we were meeting with NATO, to talk about the continued threat from al Qaeda in Afghanistan and Pakistan, where they're still plotting against us eight years -- or seven years later," he said. "I think the question for Mr. Cheney is, how could that be? How could this have gone so long? Why are they still in business?"

Neither did Theodore Bundy.

Ferrofluid's picture

If you google image search for Bundy, be surprised at one of his photos, its GWB to a tee.

The main difference is Bundy's body count was pathetic compared to Chimpys.

there are still terrorist because they are a cash cow for the rich.
Why not pick up a few billion here and there based on Americans fear.

Cheney can go f*ck himself.

When did Cheney EVER act like a statesman? I don't remember a single instance.

Warmonger, fearmonger, asshole. That I remember. Statesman? Not in the first 100 things I think of when I (am forced to) think about Dick.

I just wish these guys would stop talking about Cheney and start investigating Cheney! He's beeing out there bragging about war crimes! I don't care that he criticized Obama I care that Obama's justice dept won't go after these criminals!

Cheney is busted. That's OK but:

Why the new admin keep on calling the buggy man Alqaeda?

The various groups we call the Taliban are in a war against foreign occupation.

From TRN:

http://therealnews.com/t/index.php?option=com...

"take a look at this manual prepared by US Army Training and Doctrine Command, TRADOC—one more wonderful Pentagon acronym for us to memorize. It's all spelled out. This is a US war against, yes, Pashtuns who are funded by drug-smuggling and US allies in the Gulf—they don't say that, but they are US allies in the Gulf—who are trained and assist by, yes, the ISI, with some, in fact, marginal al-Qaeda assistance."

"Al-Qaeda's a detail. The Americans don't understand al-Qaeda. They have a pan-Islamic agenda, while the various groups we call the Taliban are in a war against foreign occupation. On page 10, they finally admit that Karzai in Kabul is supported by a lot of warlord militias involved in crime, narcotrafficking, and smuggling. The key thing here is not terrorism; it is the control over the very, very lucrative poppy-heroin manufacturing and smuggling routes. Then there's the stark admission by a former Taliban that they are not the real enemy."

those perps should have been given the bums rush on the 21st.

...a scheming, Machiavellian, Sadistic, Sonofabitch to be able to act Statesmanlike, much less to ever be one?

Remember the time he went to a funeral or some ceremony in Europe dressed like he was going to a Redskins game?
Yeah, he's a statesman all right.

dickie-boy was at the memorial service commemorating the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.

While the other world leaders wore respectful black clothing, he showed up in a drab green parka with his name stitched on it, a knitted ski cap with the embroidered words 'Staff 2001', and thick brown laced-up hiking boots.

Classy.

a significant portion of the jewish vote in some districts. And Lieberman was more smitten than usual with Dickie boy after that stunt.

Maybe that ceremony was for the other half of the holocaust victims, you know the ones who weren't Jewish, and thus... not as "important."

the opportunity to say that it's too early in the new administration to come to conclusions and then replies the inaccurate and typical Cheney response.
Axelrod is spot-on about the dangers being left in place in order to conjure the perception of lingering dangers when Cheney answers this question.

A self-confessed torturer and war criminal. Why no proscecution?

We do "enhanced interrogation techniques."

I was once told a while back, by a hippie acquittance of mine, that this was never the land of the free nor the brave, but the land of slogans and hypocrisy. I dismissed the old crazy bastard then.... now I know better. And I damn hate him for that!

Debber's picture

STFU! Sit down old man... you're outta the game and nobody's listening to your bull$hit any longer. By the way, Dick, why aren't you in prison yet?! (quite possibly a rhetorical question)

He did go whore around up in Canada recently, didn't he?

Axelrod, please don't kiss Rethug ass when it's not needed.

When Cheney was in office, we could hardly find him to ask him any questions. Now that he's out he's all over the place. He should be somewhere with some lawyers trying to keep his ass out jail.

Loathed at home and abroad
An enemy of the state for criticizing a sitting president during time of war.
A liar
A war monger
A war profiteer
A killer of innocent civilians and 4500 American soldiers to date.
A CIA agent outing traitor
A 5 draft deferment chickenhawk
A lying sack of shit
A Dick
A bad shot - thankfully for the small, pen raised, flightless birds...not so good for old lawyers

But a statesman? Not even close.

calgarylady's picture

but I would add 'Astonishingly, still a free man' to your list. That would make it complete.

sixandseveneights's picture

Seems the only thing Cheney would have to fear is vigilante justice. The "No one is above the law" thing I keep hearing about does seem to have it's exceptions.

Maybe an unwanted legal opinion offered to somebody who couldn't take it.

calgarylady's picture

I had never considered that. Maybe that poor old dude apologized so his name wouldn't get added to dickie-boy's ever-growing assassination squad hit-list.

Captain Kangaroo's picture

I wonder if the old boy has taken a private plane ride since the shooting. If he is smart he never will.

I agree with alot of what you say there, 6&7/8ths. But I certainly had a lot to criticize about Bush's war policies as did a lot of others that post here. Does that make me an enemy of the state?

LeftandLeft's picture

Dick Cheney is no different than John Gotti, Al Capone, Carlo Gambino, et al....only this fucker killed many more and stole much more money.

Somehow I tuned into John "Chris Wallace" King at the end of the show and there he was interviewing these weird people who said they hated Obama and Obama was doing alright in Europe because he had not embarrassed himself. When asked who they were hoping would run for President for the Republicans in 2012 they said Sarah Palin. Not much more can be said except that of course John "Chris Wallace" King did not interview any Obama supporters. maybe he could not find any?

Fuck John King. Whenever I am watching CNN and John King comes on or I see the magic wall I turn it off. I don't expect confetti to be dropped from the ceiling when they talk about Obama but I sure do expect a little more fair reporting from CNN now that they got rid of Glenn Beck.

Cheney is a douche bag and a criminal. He's trying to CYA because he's worried about being charged with war crimes, which he should be. I'm no fan of George Bush, but do at least give him credit for behaving in a gracious manner on his way out the door. Cheney is a disgusting human being and a disgrace to this country.
