First off, has anyone like Rove and Hannity ever navigated their way through the VA? No! Because they were always to chicken to serve in the military! If they did serve and are part of the VA like me they would know that any and all literature you can get your hands on makes dealing with the VA a lot easier. I'm dealing with the VA right now for a claim that was denied for a left foot injury that I feel is service connected. My disagreement is still pending and hopefully will soon be reviewed by the VA Board of Appeals once I get my VA form 9 ready.
With that out of the way I just looked over the so called "death book' on the VA website which I have reviewed also in the past. First, it says the the VA Your Life, Your Choices book is being revised and will be out soon so everything they are talking about now could be changed very shortly, who knows.
Next, the page they are referencing is, as it states, an exercise with explainations about various worse case scenarios that anyone could face later on in life. It discusses the options you have and what the various procedures do and do not do if you choose not to have them. I've answered similar questions from the VA numerous times and so have my relatives. Its not a death panel. Its just letting you know your options and how you may want your situation handled by your loved ones if you unfortunately become incompacitated in some way that is all. What is wrong with that?
Jeezz, what is going to be next with these clowns? Are they going to claim that since every service person who goes overseas or into a potential conflict zone who normally fills in a benificiary for his/her life insurance is some how being forced to commit suicide by doing so?
Unfortunately, that's a large part of the repug strategy.....fill the air with so much bull and lies that now one knows what's the truth.....and the many fearful, especially repugs, will believe the lies.
Yeah, you're right...."Jeezz".
Really makes me sick.
The media and the dumbass American citizens really make me fucking angry. Last night on CNN(Fox lite) The two assholes named John(King and Roberts) during the announcement of Kennedy's passing actually said that Kennedy was for compromise regarding Health Care.
those Johns are a$$holes!
Ted Kennedy was very clear about what he wanted from a health care system... something that worked for EVERYONE, not just the rich, entitled asswipes... perhaps the category these two Johns fit into.
"Conservatives want live babies, so that they can grow up to be dead soldiers."
Conservatives care very little about the quality of life for our fine men and women who put themselves in harm's way at the request of politicians that stay at home.
"When are we going to stop trying to tell elected officials what to do. Our job is to spend the taxpayers' money the best way we can." -- Tommy Watkins, Justice of the Peace, Crawford County, Arkansas
I couldn't watch much of that video.
That picture of Rove behind the sign says it all....he's evil with that shit-eating grin, as if this is a game (and with him, it probably is a game, trying to pull all sorts of dirty tricks).
I also saw that Ainsley Earhart in the first part of the video.....she's got to be one of the dumbest blondes Fox has. There is nothing between her ears but air. I've seen her say the dumbest of the dumb things on Fox before.
You know, its funny to that Rove and Hannity have never pointed out why veterans like me who put claims in for a service connected disability are made to prove that their disability is in fact service connected. Why don't they cry foul on that one especially when it would go over really well with the "I support the troops" Fox News crowd?
I'll tell you why. The reason is because many veterans and some people who have never even served at all have went to VA and made compensation claims in the past that were not even remotely service connected or were in some cases completely fraudulent. The result, they bilked the American taxpayer for and in some cases hundreds of thousands of dollars. I hate to tell those Fox News viewers but there are some in the military now just like there are in society itself who are not these "Knights in Shining Armor" that they make them out to be and the VA is trying to crack down on them.
I'm sure we could help if you need help with the initiation fees and all...
me-oww!
Rove isn't in jail yet?? WHY NOT??? Ahh..it must be the GUTLESS DOJ/POLITICIANS that won't pursue him or any of his kind...disgraceful letting him continue walking the streets.
still trying to catch up with Curious George on that reading list challenge.

a FOX high tech graphic. It has only two spelling errors and labels no alleged criminal a "D."

Yip that's what it's all about now.
Duh
..not enough of the msm is calling "death panels" exactly what they are: Bullshit! The idiot talking heads on most of the major networks act as if there really are death panels but that they are called something like: Terminal Retirement by Proxy Professional Panels or something equally tongue-twisting so they use death panels. Why shouldn't msm just say "Look, there are no death panels!" cowards
Kudos to KO and Rachel and anyone else for doing just that!
Mickey: "It was an epiphany. Do you know what an epipany is?"
Keoni: "NOT NOW MICKEY!"
..next time put the sign up a little higher if you don't have to wear the bag on your head so we don't have to look at your doughy, over-fed, face. And hey, while you at it, I wouldn't mind if you had to stop breathing the air on this side of a prison wall.
Mickey: "It was an epiphany. Do you know what an epipany is?"
Keoni: "NOT NOW MICKEY!"
Democracy without honest information creates the illusion of popular consent while enhancing the power of the state and the privileged interests protected by it.
That's all this is about. They don't mention the preacher would would like HIS pamphlet to be the ones veterans get at $5 per copy billed to taxpayers.

Because I bet he is.

Rove is right about something, he looks half dead.

Exercise they point to on page 21 says:
Instructions This exercise will help you think about and
express what really matters to you. For each row, check (✔)
one answer to express how you would feel if this factor by
itself described you.
And at the end of the exercise it says:
Instructions To help others make sense out of your answers, think about the following questions and be sure to explain your answers to your loved ones and health care providers.
If you checked "worth living, but just barely" for more than one factor, would a combination of these
factors make your life "not worth living?" If so, which factors?
If you checked "not worth living," does this mean that you would rather die than be kept alive?
If you checked "can't answer now," what information or people do you need to help you decide?
Jim Towey makes it sound like they are asking those who can no longer walk to kill themselves. It does not say that at all. This is an exercise to get people to consider under what circumstances they want to end treatment.
The "Five Wishes" booklet is far less thorough and contains less information. It does not ask difficult questions to promote discussion or thinking on end of life issues. Finally, it has a decided religious bent to it.
Wish 4 states
I wish to have others by my side praying for me when possible
I wish to have the members of my faith community told that I am sick and asked to pray for me and visit me.
Rove and Hannity keep pointing out how the Bush administration got rid of the book. They fail to mention that it did not happen until 2007. I don't see either of these guys up in arms over insurance companies the deny care all of the time in the name of making more profit, but god forbid the government wants people to have all of the facts.
You know that deep down inside these two don't care if you pull the plug on grandma. They are such selfish pigs that as long as they got theirs who cares about anyone else. Heck, they should be in favor of pulling the plug on grandma because deficits are a terrible thing, so the sooner they die, the more money we can save on government spending.
Ever notice how these fucking guys have no eye for color, design, typography, or anything else for that matter. It's like they are completely tone deaf to art, literature, and music.
Normally, I don't get much time to check stuff out in-depth (which is bad, I know, I have to rely on good progressives to do my dirty work, heh heh). But today, I downloaded the "Your Life, Your Choices" PDF to see what the Hell Rove is talking about. One caveat: I suppose, it's extremely possible he's looking at a version of this pamphlet I didn't download.
First of all, the pamphlet is 53 pages. Rove makes a comment about finding information on Compassionate Choices on a page in the 90s. So either his version of the pamphlet is drastically different, or it's large-print because his chronic squinting to avoid seeing certain truths has really effed up his eyesight.
Second of all, the organization Rove mentions - which is not Compassionate Choices, but Compassion & Choices (the former is a vegan group), is not mentioned in the pamphlet I downloaded. Looking at their website (which is how I found out Rove was wrong about the name), I learned that their reason for being is to care for terminally ill people...INCLUDING helping them with end of life decisions. End of life decisions is NOT why they're around, but a part of the various care services they provide. Which, to my naive simplistic way of thinking, IS MUCH MORE DIFFERENT than a supposed "hemlock society."
Finally, the page Airhead...sorry, Earhart, mentioned in her "reporting" on the pamphlet, the "What Makes Your Life Worth Living" page? The page that precedes that is a page entitled "Who should speak for me?" The pages are supposed to be filled out in tandem. In other words, FIRST you decide who you'd want to have as your spokesperson in the event you couldn't speak for yourself, AND THEN you discuss with this spokesperson what you would consider to be situations where you'd not like steps taken to keep you alive. Which, to my naive simplistic way of thinking, is MUCH MORE different than having a government bureaucrat hovering over your shoulder going "Hey...hey gimpy...betcher sad cause you can't get out of that chair...want I should smother you in your sleep? No trouble, I gotta pillow here all ready for smotherin!" Funny how that's the way Earhart made it sound.
So, to some up, Hannity, Rover, Earhart. Ginourmous evil f*cking liars who should be in prison, if only for the amount of lies they spread that jeopardize the general welfare of the public.
Evil
F*cking
Liars.
I know, try not to act too shocked.
on a cup of hemlock.
Gene has it nailed: Death by Democrat - the funniest comment of the week!
and the specter reappears--
the ghastly apparition of a cross dressing republican.
he dresses as a democrat, but is really a republican to the bone.
he wants investigations into the "your life choices" manual???
someone tape a "kick me" sign to his back.
balsa wood casket.
Rove is saying we shouldn't pay doctors to give this counseling because they are not lawyers, ministers, or ethicist. So what? The doctors are giving the patient medical options for end of life decisions. A prudent person would want to know from an expert all of the medical options.
Hannity then says the government is getting involved in these decisions. How? Where? What the? The doctor is providing information and the "death book" encourages you to talk other people about your decision. Where is the government bureaucrat?
What kills me is that people actually buy this BS.
Another shrill shill bleached teethed, bleached blonde, silicon tittie bimbo broadcasting the "news". Gotta keep the attention of those knuckledragging Viagra popping slow witted conservative white dudes.
Turblossom and Doughboy Hannity are sleazebags. Rove the Traitor should be rotting in prison or standing in front of a firing squad instead of broadcasting reich wing lies and propaganda on Foxaganda.
Turdblossom "we should be turning this over to faith"
Funny coming from an atheist like Turdblossom. But he knows the right wing base is ignorant and blinded by religion so all he has to do is bring up "faith" to reel em in!
I had a salesman when I used to run a lumber yard that wanted me to take on his hardware. I would not do it because we already had three hardware stores in our small town and we needed to sell lumber not hardware. After finding out the owner thought of himself to be religious the salesman says" you know every morning when my feet hit that old cold floor I just look up and thank the lord I've got a job".
The owner looked over at me and said this is a good christian man trying to help us out.
I said this is a salesman trying to put his hand in your pocket, and if you by this hardware it will put us out of business. He bought the hardware and less then a year later we were out of business.
We had no money to by lumber and could not sell enough hardware to make up the losses.
So yes I have seen first hand that all you have to do is say the words and reel the sucker in!
republicanism is a mental illness!
in prison. He's going to be real popular. A cell block favorite.
Yes indeed.
I can just see him now snivelling in a corner with his sock suspenders and pee stained boxers.

When will this hateful, horrible man sit down and shut up? He's an embarrassment to this country.
CSPAN aired the Patrick McHenry (R-NC) town hall, during which I saw and heard a middle-aged white male say the following to McHenry:
"You Republicans in Washington need to come home more often. As it is, I'm forced to rely on talk radio and Fox News for my information."
About says it all.....
Waste time watching the MSM or listening to a republican.
All you can get from either is bullshit and lies.
republicanism is a mental illness!
this nonsense is tiring. wow in a democracy we're giving people choices. choices they can use to pre- plan before it's too late. there are people that want to be kept alive by ventilation/medication but there are others that don't. there's millions of people who undergo unecessary/unwanted suffering. in addition to the moral angle this comes at a big financial cost. with the aging population/veteran population increasing these are commonsense measures. of course it can't be overlooked by me that this is BIG business. there are windowless facilities in california that have people under chronic ventilation that have absolutely no chance of living. there organs are just kept functioning while they are under heavy medication to overcome the primitive reflexes to fight something down your throat. medicare pays for this maintianing of organ function at a big cost because people failed to pre-plan and family members are afraid to "pull the plug" if you will.
"hemlock society"
how interesting he should hold that up, hemlock is famous for being the agent used to kill socrates. the logical metaphor would be that he is worried obama's policies will result in the state-sanctioned death of our most educated and forward thinking individuals. yeah, maybe that's what he meant....what a douchebag....the kind of douchebag that deserves rape-me-up-the-arse prison

There is a question about assisted suicide. I'll put it in my post & then you can see Rove & Hannity are bull$hitting!!!
Q: Can I specify that I want assisted
suicide in my directive?
A: No. Assisted suicide is currently
illegal. However, even if it becomes
legal, the person making the request
would have to be competent and
able to change their mind at the time
of the suicide. Advance directives
only go into effect when you are no
longer competent to make decisions.
Hey Sean,
My cousin loves your show. I saw Rove on the other day & you guys were talking about the so-called 'Death Book.' Now I'm going to post an exact quote from the book (page 51):
pasted quote from above
WHY THE HELL would you & Rove rant on & on about this euthanasia crap when it says this in the booklet!? It's on page 51 if you don't believe me. Rove also said something about the groups to contact on Page 90. Well there is NO PAGE 90 nor any mention of the group! Can you stop spewing bullshit lies to the American people? I'm so sick of hearing my idiot friends cite you as news information when you are a bullshit artist.
Thank you Mr. Olberman and Mr. Robinson for attempting to stem the flow of this BS. I dont know where to start to comment on this media frenzy of deathbooks and death panels. It's ridiculous for something that was created to help veterans with life choices is now being used as a political platform to derail health care initiatives, make our president out to be a fool, and foster the agendas of special interest groups. You can see how a real live veteran feels about it at http://www.lowcarbmarine.com
