It's Always A Hoot! Ralph Peters (Talking About The Deaths Of US Troops)

(Nicole:) Leave it to Fox News to try to spin the sad news that more coalition soldiers have died this month than in any other month since June 2008 into another "It's all Obama's fault" story.
Not that Obama doesn't need to accept some responsibility for the coalition's continued presence, don't get me wrong. But who put them there in the first place? Who never had a strategy there? I'm against our continued presence in Afghanistan, but I understand the Colin Powell/Pottery Barn mentality of "you broke it, you own it," most recently voiced by Tom "Friedman Unit" Friedman.
But is there anyone more disgusting to bring on than Col. Ralph Peters to discuss our troops' safety? The same man who suggested that the Taliban killing a captured American soldier would be the most expedient solution dares to advocate on behalf of the troops from President Obama? Reprehensible.

What really galls me is that we can flush $10 billion down this black hole every MONTH and we can't come up with $1 billion to continue the junker buy back or, heaven forfend, universal health coverage.
Get. Us. Out. Now.
The former goes to the war profiteers and to feed the military industiral complex. The later goes to help the middle class. The former always wins out over the needs of the middle class though it's our tax dollars paying for it.
One would think Obama started this war based on the ramblings of this right wing puppet..
Bush had NO plan when HE started these wars, but the right wing attacked the patriotism of anyone who spoke out- But now that Obama is in charge, right wingers are simply attacking ghim by repeating things the left said about Bush...
Do right wing Republicans have ANY remaining credibility?
But it is true- there is NO objective in these wars- wars that were started during the Bush administration- we need to end this war NOW
i do think one reason Obama wants to continue Bush's war is because he is desperate to gain the approval of the Republicans..
Obama has ignored these questions. No, he doesn't bear "some" responsibility; its all his.
Bush and Cheney left obama this mess...
*
Just because the former owner of my condo left a mess doesn't excuse my leaving that mess to rot and fester for the next six months - especially when I up the ante and pile more on.
a condo in Afghanistan?
No money down; easy financing. No air conditioning, but since most of the west side of the unit is gone, the AC isn't really needed any more.
How much are the association fees?
The walls have excellent ventilation.
Obama said he'd get us out...
Nagahapun.
Not for decades.
It's all going according to plan, yano? The Puke plan: first, throw the election by nominating a ticket which has no chance of being elected; next, attach the Obama/Dim brand to all the bushevik clusterfucks, and fix it so he fails to resolve or repair any of them (GOP/BlueDawg obstructionism), and finally, put up another Bush in '12, when the weight of the disasters in too great for the Dims to overcome...
Like clockwork...
All that is left is for the LEFT to abandon him...oh wait
I'm convinced Obama's decison to continue Bush's war is 100% political- he wants to convince the Republicans he's 'tought on terrorism', and therefore gain their support.
obama needs to wake up!
Republicans will NEVER support a black man in the oval office
he is a republican.
Isn't strategy just another word for a " Declaration of War " as required by the controlling legal authority of the United States of America, our constitution ?
Just like when these clowns discuss projecting power, they really mean wholesale slaughter of others.
He looks like a fucking owl. Not a hoot for those dying in BUSH'S WARS.
Hopefully on the endangered species list.
I'm not going to ruin my Sunday listening to that disgusting POS.
We should be OUT of Iraq and OUT of Afghanistan. If there are any military operations they should be targeted to getting bin Laden and his colleagues who were involved in 9/11.
Peters is a retired lieutenant colonel, meaning he served his 20 plus and didn't make the grade of O-6 colonel, entitling him to the former rank with the eagles on his shoulders. In civilian terminology, he never made full bird colonel.
As a retiree, his title is mister, dude or hey you, but never "colonel." Don't elevate that turd. Same goes for disgraced former marine Ollie North.
is busy trying not to get co-opted by the US military in Afghanistan. She is now a senior adviser for them after being a senior adviser for the UN troops there.
Oops, and she just went over to help rebuild houses that were destroyed after the first time.

this is just plain ass stupid. are they really that ignorant. obama inherits the mess that the bush admin absolutely created and he attempts to fix that problem. instead of accolades for what he is attempting and seemingly accomplishing, the conservative element wants to point out the futility of the effort. well,to all the conservatives who would place the blame on the doorstep of obama, you need to suck it up and see things realistically. Not the way things are spun by your radio pundits, but the way things actually are. can you really blame obama for this mess, if so, get a brain.
that said, i was listening to the news shows this sunday morning and i see where obama is increasing the number of troops in iraq. The greatest insult we can bestow on this man is to dub him Bush junior. is this how he proposes to bring an end to this wrongful occupation. it makes me really wonder whether i should have voted for hillary. nah, she's too much of the politician as well. her best selling point is that she would have been the pit bull on the issue of health care for everyone. obama appeara to be letting that hot topic alone. might hurt him too much in his bid for a second term. obama's best selling point is his rhetoric and his intellect.
DAMN, WHERE IS DENNIS WHEN YOU NEED HIM????
Afghanistan. Obama deserves no accolades for perpetuating Afghanistan. If he were a smart man, and I think he is, then just a few weeks of study would convince a reasonably smart person, maybe only hours, to realize Afghanistan is a huge lie. We invaded their country because they wouldn't give up bin Laden. That is presumably illegal as an act of aggression. Second, we invaded Afghanistan to "topple" the Taliban. Well, that was done in a few months, but we still stayed on. Why? To then install a government and hold an election? We did all that. Then why are we still there? Oh, the Karzai government is extremely corrupt and inefficient, and the Taliban never really left because they are a significant population of the country. In other words, after bin Laden left we continued to kill Afghanis even though we claimed we were there to help, and, of course, Bush never made it a real priority to rebuild or bring jobs. It was a war to gain territory, resources and trade routes. Even if the Taliban did harbor bin Laden, maybe that is their right as a sovereign nation. I wonder if Britain balked at turning over Rushdie (sorry, Salman), they could face invasion? And, nevertheless, bin Laden has been in Pakistan or some other friendly country (Saudi Arabia? Yemen?) for years. So, what it really comes down to is a war of imperialism. It was called the Great Game in the 19th century, and after a hiatus it seems to have come back, although arguably it never left.
...is this claim accurate, "Youtube has suspended CSPANJunkie & VotersThink accounts"
"(From CSPANJunkie)
YES! Youtube has suspended my CSPANJunkie & VotersThink accounts. I told You this was coming!
I will be making an attempt to get the 6400 videos now not available back online. I’m afraid that’s probably not very likely.
The new Youtube account is...
Thanks and if so... what is your theory for Youtube takeing this action?
This pathetic twig is just the ticket for this pathetic network of unhappy, sore losers. Once again...and I feel like a broken record on this....he makes no logical sense whatsoever. Out of one side of his twist ass hole he is talking about how we can beat anybody, anyplace, any time. On the other side of his twisted ass hole he is talking about how we have no mission, and we'll never succeed.
Even the dip shit blond was interjecting the mission as keeping the peace and fighting back the Taliban...WHERE WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN FOR THE LAST EIGHT YEARS!!
What an ass wipe.
I can't believe anyone on this site would cite Tom Friedman as credible or offering anything of value, and Colin Powell and his break-it-you-bought-it mentality are as credible as his b.s. notion that the only wars one should fight is when you know you have overwhelming capacity for victory. Yeah, I'm sure that is what he urged in Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan. Colin Powell is a liar, a war criminal and a traitor, but no one will ever tell America. I have despised Powell since his toady days in the mis-administrations of Reagan and Bush I, not to mention the war crimes he committed under Bush II, just think of von Ribbentrop. Powell is a sycophantic, yes man, and while most generals have to be sycophantic, yes men, he and they should, in the words of Gen. MacArthur, simply fade away and not heard from. Actually, there is very good reason to think he is being paid by the Pentagon to voice their propaganda.
The Bush apologist host starts out by saying that when Bush was president "the death count (in Iraq) was front page news nearly every single day." That's BS. The death tolls were buried deep into some other section of most papers and it wasn't even every day. I remember when ABC news wanted to show the pictures and names of the fallen. Some affiliates refused to do so because they felt it was too political and made Bush look bad.
Obama's war? The war in Afghanistan started in 2001. And just think if Obama decided to immediately get the troops out. He'd be a "cut and runner."
"The establishment media is still very much in love with Obama?" I guess that's the reason why they keep giving continuous air time to idiots like the birthers and you Mr. Peters. You're always a hoot.
whose is it?
We voted to end the war and get our troops out of there in 2006.
Obama campaigned on how smart he was to know that the war was bogus.
He's president. He takes the heat for the fact that our troops are still targets instead of being on the way home.
And by years' end - AP reports that there will be twice as many troops in Afghanistan as when Bush left office. 68,000! And whose fault is that?
to be thanked after your reprehensible fear-mongering and unpatriotic, ne traitorous, comments you made regarding that soldier the Taliban is holding. and these comments where you blame Obama. ive thanked many a veteran for their service, but you I would actually insult to your face if I had the chance for how youve betrayed your fellow veterans with your comments. you can shove it.
...when a bitter retired Lt. Colonel second guesses an active General or his CIC.
He is just another bitter lizard hoping to cash in on his meager success and Faux is more than obliged to exploit him......what a sad spectacle.
back up and do a dishonourable discharge and stop his bennies.
Like on CSPAN several years ago...I was really
impressed with his transcendence of petty republican
BS. This was the first time I actually listened to the
guy and, of course, he was selling his book. I was
wondering what's this guy doing writing for a rag like
the NY Post? After awhile I caught on. He's tied into
the RNC talking points machine and spends his time
operating as a RNC liar4hire. Once you start taking
their money you are locked in for the duration.
doesn't mention is that formulating a strategy seven years after you invade isn't going to work. You need to have a formulate your strategy BEFORE you begin your mission. Did he chastise the Bushies when they decided to go Afghanistan? If he did and made the same arguments he did here, they obviously didn't listen.
I have no respect for this man, even if he is a LTC (Ret). After the horrible comments he made about the American soldier who was taken captive, this is particularly hypocritcal.
These guys are so transparent. When their man Bush was in charge, they castigate anyone who raises a voice of dissent. But when the president isn't from their party, dissent is mandatory, even if he's trying to clean up their man's messes.
I'm confused. Do Republicans think empathy is good or bad? The last noun I'd have used for GW Bush's 8 yr run down the drain would be "empathy."
Peters:
"What we're really trying to do is change the culture of Afghanistan. We're trying to nation build, where there's no nation to build. And this is a problem the administartion has across the board. They don't try to see the world through the other guy's eyes. For instance, we think we know what's best for Afghanistan. We know what the Afghans 'should want'. But you need to stop and say: 'hey, what do the Afghans really want?'"
Has this jackhole been sleeping the previous eight years? Can you imagine in your wildest dreams a Republican opinionator describing Bush's Afghan strategy thusly? Incredible.
