Nicole: Seth MacFarlane decided to feature Chris Matthews on his animated sitcom, The Family Guy, and amazingly, Tweety appears to have consented to provide the voice for his character, who has, shall we say, a rather prominent feature.

Love that MacFarlane totally nailed Matthews' penchant for continually interrupting his guests.

Oooh...I wouldn't want to offend Seth McFarland.

His humor's so tasteful

It's but an afternoon soiree in the sculpted gardens with Lady Grey tea, triangular cut watercress sandwiches (crusts trimmed off of course), followed by lady fingers

And bon mots to go with the bon bons.

I tried I tried and I tried...eventually i had to turn it off.

family guy features a lot of edgy comedy that's both shocking and funny in a similar way to south park. this particular episode was just disturbing. one joke that stands out is 'welcome to feline AIDS'. holy crap, dude! if you dont understand the reference you wouldnt understand why that was supposed to be funny. and if you DO understand the reference, you know its about a news story about (and some details might be off) a guy who picked up a one night stand and after they were done, she rolled over and whispered to him 'welcome to the world of AIDS.'

turned out she was kidding and she didnt have AIDS. but it wasnt a news story until he beat her to death.

btw, its also an OLD news story in the early days of AIDS.

While there have been people who have infected other people, the story as related above is an urban legend.

okay, i thought it was an actual news story.

its still pretty disturbing though....

LOL

that was so on point... sounded just like him, too.

Chris Matthews provides his own voice to poke fun at himself?

C&L is a very important blog. But if you notice, Amy Goodman and others have an edge. They don't do better work, they just do more important work. No photoshops, no superimposed hate dialog, they report.

John Amato...elevate your position. Become more than what your underlings want you to be. PLEASE!

I enjoy the humor here. I learn just as much, but am not twisted up into a knot of fear and alarm while learning it. Rather, I'm laughing.

Amy Goodman has a paid staff that helps her develop stories.

We're a bunch of volunteers doing this because we think it's important. Not every post is going to be some sturm und drang about the condition of the country.

One of the reasons John started this blog was because he was looking at who the people were that framed the debate. We're not a news outlet. We're a political blog that focuses on who shapes the national dialog. Like it or not, Matthews does that and he is part of pop culture.

If this particular post is not your cup of tea, I invite you to look back at the 25,000 other posts in the archives. Or you can wait until 7:00 for the next post (which is mine, and on Olbermann's Special Comment--serious and edgy enough for you?).

every post is going to be some sturm und drang about the condition of the country." For which I am extremely grateful. Perpetual outrage is so hard on the digestion. Love the LNMC. Love the humor. Love the fact that this site displays a basic humanity that is too often lacking elsewhere. I even like the people who tell me to get stuffed on occasion. Change is inevitable but I, for one, hope you don't stray too far from the current path. Your work is appreciated.

and I might add take a look at all the other things we post at Video Cafe daily as well. It's not like we can't walk and chew gum at the same time. We're posting everything from segments from Democracy Now, the PBS Newshour, the BBC to CNN, to MSNBC to Fox, to Comedy Central to you name it daily. They don't all make it to the front page but this sister site along with the really wonderful work Gordon is doing at Newstalgia are a part of this blog. If you haven't taken a good look around the site, you're probably missing a third or two of what's posted here every day.

If I see something that either makes me want to throw something through the T.V. screen, looks like an important story that deserves some more attention or makes me laugh out loud and is related to politics or the media, I put it up and so do my wonderful helpers here at VC. Our hope is that it provokes some discussion and makes this an enjoyable place for everyone to spend some of their time. And as Nicole said, we're volunteers, it's a blog, and we're not a "news service".

We post what interests us and hope it interests the rest of you as well.

`that I didn't list those sister sites separately as things I love about this place. They are so seamlessly integrated into the whole it is easy to forget that particular people are responsible for their content. When say your work is appreciated I mean all of you.

...and I completely agree with the other replier(s)

I love this blog FOR it's humor! That is one of the reasons that this is one of the first sites I check out in the morning and one of the last I read before I go to bed. Plus I must agree that Mathews is one of the big voices out there and this silly little family guy clip matters in the larger context of our pop culture. I don't know if I consider myself and underling or not but what I want is for this site to stay the same. It has always been chocked full of progressive fun, news, and commentary that I very much love and agree with. keep it up! PLEASE!

Yes

I agree, foderick! C&L is the best.

I love Family Guy.

This clip illustrates that quite well.

Hey

at least he has a sense of humor.

the only thing "hardball" about chris matthews show is his calcified nutsack which only gets blood flow when he sees president bush's flight suit bulge when he declared victory in iraq many years ago.

Listening to Mike Malloy tonight on the internet radio at AM 620, KPOJ in Portland, OR. Damn!...he hits it on the head way too often. We are following hot stories like Tiger Woods and his fender bender....the White House party crashers....Jesus, all those so important stories.

Then we get this egotistical prick and have to listen to him rant about what he wants to talk about...and it just puts our society to sleep.

We are a f*cked nation. F*cked, thanks to the media, f*cked thanks to the right wing distractors and liars, and f*cked because 1984 is here and we are busy with needless, meaningless bull shit.

That part was funny, the rest of it wasn't really. I hadn't watched it in quite some time... It seems like they switched annoying cutaways every 5 seconds for hyper ridiculous levels of violence. I watch South Park religiously and love zombie films and I still was disturbed by some of it. The part near the end where a dog claws at a door until you just see blood and bones was enough.

No thanks. Meanwhile American Dad and (much to my surprise) the Cleveland Show seem to stay good. I never understand how people like Family Guy and not American Dad. Watch the Spring Break episode and tell me it's no good lol.
