The Village media does not like Ted Cruz (R-TX) at all. It's hard to remember so much disdain being heaped on a Republican Senator in a single segment like this. And it's partially why the notion that liberals should fear Ted Cruz's presidential prospects is ridiculous on its face.

Back in his home state, Cruz can get away with belching up wingnut craziness without any repercussions at all, and that makes for a very undisciplined politician. Apparently, he's learned absolutely nothing from Rick Perry's implosion on the national stage. Perry's suggestion that Ben Bernanke would be lynched in Texas shocked the national media, but he'd been talking like that in Texas for years.

So, as long as Texas Republicans continue to reward whackjobs like Louie Gohmert and Ted Cruz with electoral victories, it's hard to imagine a serious presidential candidate coming from Texas anytime soon. And that's a problem, because Texas is the largest Republican state.
