Republicans are such predictable hypocrites. Whatever they are obsessed with and accusing the other side of doing is what they are actually doing.

Take Rep. Tim Murphy (R-PA), for example. Rep. Murphy is a fine, upstanding Republican with a wife and a mistress. Good red-blooded guy, who is now implicated in his girlfriend's divorce.

According to texts produced in connection with her court proceedings, there was concern about a possible pregnancy, which would be a difficult thing to manage when Murphy and his lady friend Shannon Edwards thought she might be pregnant.

"And you have zero issue posting your pro-life stance all over the place when you had no issue asking me to abort our unborn child just last week when we thought that was one of the options," Shannon Edwards wrote in a text message, the Post-Gazette reports.

Murphy answered her right away, writing, "I get what you say about my March for life messages. I've never written them. Staff does them. I read them and winced. I told staff don't write any more. I will."

Speaking of staff, Murphy isn't a very nice guy to work for. Not at all. A complaint filed by his Chief of Staff demanded that he stop abusing his staff, driving while texting on his iPad, and more.

The memo criticized his "inability to hire and retain competent staff, abysmal office morale," as well as "hostile, erratic, unstable, angry, aggressive and abusive behavior."

According to the memo, the office has had nearly 100 percent staff turnover in one year and that the office has lost more than 100 staffers since Ms. Mosychuk started working with Mr. Murphy. Ms. Mosychuk began working with him in 2003.

Read the whole thing. It's brutal, particularly coming from his Chief of Staff, who has worked for him since 2003. Apparently love didn't make him a nicer guy.

I don't really care if Republican Congresscritters want to have affairs with people. That's their business. But it turns into mine when they vote for a bill criminalizing abortions which take place after 20 weeks, forcing women to carry stillborn or severely handicapped babies to term. Rep. Murphy has been lauded by the likes of the Family Research Council for his stance on abortion, belongs to the "pro-life" caucus in the House, and wears it like a mantle to seduce religious fundamentalists into voting for him in spite of his utter lack of morals and ethics.

Under those circumstances, yes. I care.
