The mad dash now is to re-take the Senate. Unfortunately, we're likely to lose one Senate Seat before Trump takes office.
Is Trump Working To Dislodge A Democratic Senate Seat?

The two most vulnerable Democratic Senator seats for 2018 are Claire McCaskill, from my state of Missouri, and North Dakota's Heidi Heitkamp.

Senator McCaskill is a person who has stood by the President, and Hillary Clinton. She's also stood by the people of Missouri, and I'll do what I can to see her re-elected.

Senator Heitkamp, on the other hand, is more of a mixed bag. She does support the Affordable Care Act, and we're grateful for her support. However, she also fought the Obama administration on most of President Obama's energy and climate initiatives.

Now she's meeting with Trump for a possible position. If she's offered a position in the Trump Administration, and takes it, this would help Trump pretend that he's bipartisan. It would also free up a Senator position right now that will be quickly grabbed by Republicans.

We have to consider her Senate seat as one in the loss column. The Republicans won't have a filibuster-proof majority, but it cuts into the Democratic count. However, if the Republicans screw up health care, as I suspect they will, I think we're looking at vulnerable Republican seats in 2018 and 2020.
