Carl Higbie came back on The Kelly File to do damage control for himself after he cited WWII Japanese internment camps as precedent for Trump's Muslim registry.
November 18, 2016

Former Navy Seal and avid Trump supporter Carl Higbie followed up his disastrous Tuesday night appearance on The Kelly File, where he justified creating a Muslim registry by using WWII Japanese Internment camps as precedent, denying what he said and blaming Megyn Kelly for "putting words out there."

Megyn Kelly outlined what happened Tuesday night and said, "You made a reference to the Japanese in WWII, and your position tonight is that that was not a reference to interment camps, right?"

Higbie feigned shock and said, "Oh, absolutely. I was quite frankly, I was actually shocked that you brought in internment camps."

He continued, "It was as reference to the scrutiny on immigration and the stopping of immigration and the registration of immigrants coming from place like Japan and Italy and Germany. Nothing to do with internment camps whatsoever."

Kelly countered, "You didn't say you were shocked."

Megyn then played the debate between the two from last night, where Higbie clearly references WWII Japanese internment camps.

She continued, "So I mean there wasn't shock expressed. You were saying, 'there's precedent for it' which is what got people confused, but I take you at your word if you're saying you were referencing something else. You were trying to make a different point."

People weren't confused, they were offended.

Higbie tried to cover for himself and said, "It was in reference to parallel with Iran, under Jimmy Carter where we banned immigration from Iran. Forgive me for not being as clear as I possibly could..."

Kelly said,"You mentioned the Japanese and World War II."

"Yea, no I did, but I did not ever mention internment camps and for those out there..."

Kelly made a funny face at him for trying to deny what he had originally said.

"I know but that's kind of the big story about what we did here with the Japanese."

"But that's because you put words out there, Megyn, and let's be honest --"

"Only after you put out the words about what we did to the Japanese in WWII," she shot back.

Carl realized he was fighting a losing battle and blamed "left wing media."

"I think the left wing media took this by the horns because they're not a fan of Donald Trump. This is exactly why he won because of the dishonest media. Not saying you!"

No, Carl. We only discussed your own words and historical references you made to defend the creation of a Muslim registry.

And you were blaming Megyn Kelly for putting words in your mouth, but nice save. I know you'd want to keep going back on her show.
