Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump insisted over the weekend that he wasn't blaming the victim by attacking Hillary Clinton for her husband's infidelity because she shared the responsibility for it.

During an interview on Sunday, Fox News host Chris Wallace pointed out that Trump had made an effort to compare Bill Clinton cheating on his wife to allegations that Bill Cosby raped scores of women.

"No, I'm not doing that," Trump replied unconvincingly. "That's totally up to the public."

"You have mentioned both in the same sentence," Wallace reminded the candidate. "As inappropriate as his relationship with Monica Lewinsky might have been -- and she was an intern -- it was consensual."

"If you read the book, the book has other ones that were really horrible," Trump opined. "One accusing of rape and other things."

Trump argued that he would not have brought the issue up if she had "not mentioned 'penchant for sexism' for me, penchant, I have a 'penchant for sexism.'"

Wallace noted that many Republicans believe that Trump was going to make Hillary Clinton look like "the victim."

"No, no, no, she's not a victim," Trump declared. "She was an enabler."

"She worked with him," he continued. "Some of the women were destroyed, and Hillary worked with him. There's no feeling sorry for Hillary in this situation, and all you have to do is look at some of the facts and look at some of the settlements, there's no feeling sorry for her."
