MSNBC's Chuck Todd and Savannah Guthrie interviewed Minnesota's wingnut Representative Michele Bachmann and allowed the Congresswoman to completely roll over both of them and filibuster for the better part of the interview, some of the worst of which is posted here in the clip above. This woman has thrown more red meat out there for her base than almost anyone I can think of that's actually holding elective office, but she was allowed to deflect and change the subject when finally asked about it with no follow up to her response.

Does anyone else think that any Democrat who decided to throw their name in the hat for a presidential run that had made anything even close to resembling the amount of crazy crap that's come out of Bachmann's mouth would be allowed off the air without a thorough grilling instead of being allowed the pass that Bachmann was here when Chuck Todd decided to change the subject? Hell, they crucified Howard Dean as being crazy for his "Dean scream" when he's never said anything close to in any interview to the kind of kind of bats**t crazy things we've heard out of Bachmann's mouth.

I give Todd and Guthrie a small amount of credit for actually showing the viewers the things she's said in the video mash-up they aired. I give them a fail for not pushing harder for her to explain why any voter should take her seriously as a presidential candidate after making those statements. She's a flame thrower and they know it and they gave her a pass for throwing those flames.

I also think that Bachmann should not be allowed on the air to rail about the evils of "big government" until someone asks her about her and her families' farm subsidies that I wrote about here -- Meet the New Welfare Queens. Maybe someone can ask Todd and Guthrie if it's asking too much to point out that bit of hypocrisy while they've got her on the air.
