Richard Lewis, a great friend to C&L, passed away yesterday at the age of 76.

I called John Amato to get his thoughts, since they were friends.

I met Richard Lewis in the mid-90s and once he found out I was a New York Knicks fan we bonded instantly.

Richard was a comedian's comedian and his improvisational skills were unparalleled. He frequently cited Crooks and Liars and was always happy when we posted his videos when he joined Keith Olbermann on MSNBC, back in the old days.

I remember in the late 90s we went to a New York Yankees game together down in Anaheim against the Angels and we had a glorious time. He stopped and talked to every fan that said hello and signed any autograph requests.

He called me after my car accident to see how I was doing even though he was also dealing with his own health issues.

His wife Joyce was a calming influence in his life and my heart goes out to her.

Richard will be missed and the world has lost a true comedic voice.

Good night to a truly talented comedian and great person.
