“When you start picking sides in the Middle East, it can get really messy very quick,” said Sen. Tuberville with his usual homespun dipshittery.

Alabama's (or Florida's) embarrassment with some unwelcome advice.

The United States has been an ally of the state of Israel since it came into existence and was the first country to recognize it in 1948. Furthermore, Israel is designated by the United States as a major non-NATO ally, and was the first country to be granted this status alongside Egypt in 1987. Israel is also the largest recipient of both foreign aid and military aid, or it was before Russia invaded Ukraine.

Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) is under fire for telling an interviewer (WBRC) that “when you start picking sides in the Middle East, it can get really messy very quick” amid the violence in Israel spurred by Hamas.

America and the world have been consumed by the new violence that has erupted since Hamas launched an unprecedented coordinated terrorist assault on Israel Saturday morning that brought with it indescribable horrors that are still unfolding.

Among the sideline controversies to this issue have been controversial reactions and commentary from U.S. political figures, including Tuberville’s remarks to an interviewer for local Gray Television station WBRC in Birmingham this week:

His complete quote.

TUBERVILLE: I’m hoping that cooler heads prevail, they don’t go into Palestine. Hopefully they get the hostages back and people start cooperating.

But this has been really bad. Israel has the right to go because they came in and they did some terrible things in their country.

But the problem is when you start picking sides in the Middle East, it could get really messy very quick.

As for Israel, what do they think of their special relationship with the United States?

A lot.

And I agree, people like Trump and Tuberville aren't going to like seeing this, as Netanyahu thanks the United States and President Biden.
